Prime Video Canada’s July 2025 schedule is led by Heads of State, the Montreal-rooted documentary Simple Plan: The Kids in the Crowd, Ballard, and the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty. The month also brings true-crime and documentary premieres, The Chosen season 5, a substantial July 1 movie drop, and live WNBA, AEW and ONE Championship programming.
This is the Canada-specific calendar. Prime Video release dates, included titles and licensing terms can differ by country, and the Canadian list is not interchangeable with Amazon’s U.S. July guide. Titles can also move between subscription streaming, rental and purchase availability.
July’s biggest Prime Video Canada releases
Heads of State — July 2
Idris Elba, John Cena and Priyanka Chopra Jonas lead this Amazon Original action comedy. Its central setup pairs a British prime minister and the U.S. president—political rivals who are forced to work together when an international crisis puts them both in danger. For viewers looking for the month’s broadest star-driven film premiere, this is the clearest place to start.
Simple Plan: The Kids in the Crowd — July 8
This Amazon Original documentary follows Montreal-founded pop-punk band Simple Plan from basement shows and local beginnings to international success. It is the month’s strongest specifically Canadian cultural hook, making it a natural pick for music-documentary viewers and fans who want the band’s history rather than a fictionalized music story.

Ballard — July 9
Maggie Q stars as Renée Ballard, an LAPD cold-case detective, in this Amazon Original crime series and expansion of the Bosch universe. The series extends the world established by the earlier detective drama while shifting its focus to Ballard and her cold-case work.
One Night in Idaho: The College Murders — July 11
This four-part Amazon Original true-crime docuseries examines the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students in Moscow, Idaho. Because the case involves real victims and an extensively covered criminal investigation, it is best approached as a serious documentary account rather than sensational entertainment.
The Chosen season 5 — July 13
The fifth season of The Chosen arrives on the Canadian schedule as an Amazon Original addition. Viewers who are catching up should check the Prime Video listing for the availability of earlier seasons in Canada before beginning the new episodes.
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 — July 16
The third season is the series’ final season. Prime Video launched it with two episodes on July 16, followed by weekly Wednesday releases. Amazon’s editorial guide identified September 17, 2025, as the finale date.

The series adapts Jenny Han’s book trilogy. If you would rather read the source material—or compare the adaptation with the novels—the original Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy is the relevant companion purchase. Availability, price and stock for physical editions should be checked with the Canadian retailer before buying.
Surf Girl / Surf Girls: International — July 17
The Canadian schedule lists this release as Surf Girl. Amazon’s U.S. editorial guide uses the title Surf Girls: International and describes it as season 2 of the competition documentary series. Since regional listings can use different names, Canadian viewers should search Prime Video by the title shown in their local app rather than assume that every territory has the same metadata.
Juegos de Seducción / Follow — July 18
Diego Boneta and Martha Higareda star in this Amazon Original film. Its premise follows a con artist whose latest target creates a dangerous complication, turning the operation into something more complicated—and riskier—than expected.
Justice on Trial — July 21
Led by Judge Judy Sheindlin, this courtroom-format Amazon Original revisits notorious cases through dramatized legal analysis. It is structured around the examination of past cases rather than a conventional scripted courtroom drama.
Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War — July 23
Season 2 of the documentary series examines Teen Mania, its youth-ministry culture and allegations of a darker institutional undercurrent. The subject matter makes this a natural follow-up for viewers interested in documentaries about religious institutions, authority and the experiences of young people within tightly controlled organizations.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is not part of this Canada-only list
Amazon’s U.S. July guide includes titles such as Better Man, Uncharted, Wicked and War of the Worlds. They are not included here because the supplied Canadian schedule does not list them. A U.S. release announcement should not be treated as confirmation of Canadian availability.
A note on the books behind The Summer I Turned Pretty
The final season gives viewers an opportunity to return to Jenny Han’s original trilogy: The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer. A physical boxed-set edition is listed by Simon & Schuster Canada. Canadian price, inventory and delivery terms can change, so check the retailer’s live product page before ordering.

Availability notes for Canadian viewers
- “New on Prime Video” does not always mean that a title will have identical access terms everywhere in Canada. Subscription inclusion, rental status and catalogue rights can change.
- Release dates are the dates supplied for the Canada-focused July 2025 schedule, not dates copied from the U.S. catalogue.
- Regional title differences matter: the Canadian listing says Surf Girl, while Amazon’s U.S. editorial material says Surf Girls: International.
- For sports and other live events, confirm the current time and replay availability in the Prime Video app or website.
