“Police disrupts Streameast, largest pirated sports streaming network” refers to an Egyptian enforcement action against the Streameast operation on August 24, 2025, publicly announced by ACE on September 3, 2025. ACE reported 80 associated domains and described the network as the world’s largest illicit live-sports streaming operation.
The shutdown explains why familiar Streameast addresses may be unavailable, but it does not verify any later mirror using the same name. Replacement domains may be unrelated or unsafe, so viewers should avoid pirate downloads and use authorized sports broadcasters or licensed streaming services.
Key takeaways
- Egyptian authorities and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment announced the Streameast shutdown on September 3, 2025, while ACE dated the operational action to August 24, 2025.
- ACE reported that the network used 80 associated domains and received more than 1.6 billion visits during the previous year, averaging more than 136 million visits per month.
- Streameast provided unauthorized access to major European football leagues, UEFA competitions, international events, MLS, and domestic cup competitions.
- A later website using the Streameast name is not automatically an official continuation, and the takedown does not prove that online sports piracy has ended.
- The FTC warns that illegal streaming apps and add-ons can expose devices, passwords, banking details, and payment information to malware and fraud.
What happened to Streameast?
Egyptian authorities and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment shut down the Streameast operation in an enforcement action dated August 24, 2025; ACE publicly announced the action on September 3, 2025. ACE described Streameast as the world’s largest illicit live-sports streaming operation, but “world’s largest” is ACE’s characterization rather than the result of an independent global audit.
The operation was associated with Egypt, while its audience reached viewers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other markets. The action targeted a distributed network rather than one isolated web address. ACE’s official announcement about the Streameast shutdown says the network operated through 80 associated domains.

When did police shut down Streameast?
| Event | Date | What the date means |
|---|---|---|
| Operational enforcement action | August 24, 2025 | The date given by ACE for the action against the operation. |
| Public announcement | September 3, 2025 | The date ACE and Egyptian authorities publicly announced the shutdown. |
The two dates describe the same case at different stages: August 24 is the operational date, while September 3 is the public-announcement date. Calling the event a September 3 enforcement action would therefore blur an important distinction.
How large was the Streameast network?
According to the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment’s 2025 announcement, Streameast operated 80 associated domains, generated more than 1.6 billion visits in the previous year, and averaged more than 136 million monthly visits. Those figures were reported by ACE and describe the scale ACE attributed to the network; they are not an independently audited census of every sports-piracy site.
| Measure | ACE-reported figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Associated domains | 80 | A distributed network of related addresses, not a single URL. |
| Visits in the previous year | More than 1.6 billion | Traffic attributed by ACE to the network during the year before the announcement. |
| Average monthly visits | More than 136 million | ACE’s reported average, not a count of unique people. |

Is Streameast down? The original network was targeted in the August 24, 2025 action announced publicly on September 3, 2025, so a familiar address may no longer work. However, the existence of a later Streameast-branded domain does not prove that the domain belongs to the original operators or that the domain is genuine.
Are Streameast mirror sites real? A mirror may simply be an unrelated operator reusing a recognizable name, a temporary copy, a redirect, or a malicious site. No reliable conclusion about ownership can be drawn from the Streameast name alone. Do not use a replacement address as evidence that the original service has returned, and do not search this article for replacement links: none are provided.

Is the new Streameast link safe?
Is the new Streameast link safe? It should not be treated as safe merely because it uses the Streameast brand. Pirate streaming domains can prompt visitors to install extensions, applications, add-ons, codecs, or “special players,” and those downloads can create a security risk.
The Federal Trade Commission warns about malware from illegal video-streaming apps, including stolen credit-card information, stolen shopping or banking credentials, slow or unusable devices, unwanted pop-ups, and the possibility that an infected computer could be used in further criminal activity. The FTC’s direct advice is: “If you want to avoid downloading malware when you stream video, don’t watch pirated content.”

An Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment and Motion Picture Association factsheet published in 2026 reported a 25.5-times-greater risk for streaming-piracy sites than mainstream websites in the cited comparison. That figure is a reported risk indicator from the factsheet, not a universal probability for every visitor or every piracy site; the 2026 ACE/MPA factsheet provides the source and context.

What to avoid on a replacement domain
- Do not install a browser extension, app, add-on, codec, or “special player” offered by the site.
- Do not enter a credit-card number, banking information, or a password that you use elsewhere.
- Do not allow unexpected browser notifications, redirects, or remote-access requests.
- Do not assume that a working video player proves that a domain is legitimate or connected to the former network.
What to do if you already installed something suspicious
- Disconnect the affected device from the internet if suspicious activity is continuing.
- Update the device’s operating system and security software, then run a complete security scan.
- Remove an unfamiliar extension or application using the operating system or browser’s normal removal tools.
- Change passwords that were entered on the site, beginning with email and financial accounts; use a clean device when possible and do not reuse passwords.
- Contact your bank or card issuer and monitor financial accounts if payment details were entered.
- Seek qualified technical assistance if the device remains slow, displays persistent pop-ups, or shows unauthorized account activity.
Why does the Streameast takedown matter?
The Streameast case matters because it disrupted a large, cross-border network of domains rather than merely removing one popular URL. ACE’s commentary frames live-sports piracy as a problem affecting leagues, broadcasters, teams, athletes, and fans, while the reported audience demonstrates why rights holders pursue large streaming networks.
ACE chairman and Motion Picture Association chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin called the action “a resounding victory in its fight to detect, deter, and dismantle criminal perpetrators of digital piracy.” That statement is ACE’s advocacy position, not an independent finding by a court or law-enforcement agency. ACE’s commentary on the wider live-sports piracy problem provides that context.
The shutdown disrupts access to one prominent network; it does not demonstrate that online sports piracy has ended. New domains can appear, and a later domain using the same brand may have no connection with the operators targeted in Egypt.

Where can you watch sports legally now?
Where can you watch sports legally now? Use the official league service, the league’s authorized broadcaster, or a licensed streaming platform available in your country. The correct choice depends on the sport or league, geographic availability, blackout rules, live-versus-replay access, price, supported devices, and whether the service is an official broadcaster, league service, or licensed distributor.
| Decision factor | Question to check before subscribing | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Sport or league coverage | Does the service hold rights to the specific competition and match? | A service can be legitimate without carrying the event you want. |
| Location | Is the service available in your country or region? | Sports rights are geographically licensed. |
| Blackouts | Are local or nationally televised games unavailable in your area? | Blackout rules can change which live games are shown. |
| Access type | Does the subscription include live matches, replays, or both? | A replay package is not the same as live access. |
| Price and term | Is billing monthly, annual, or event-based? | The cheapest-looking option may require a longer commitment. |
| Devices and apps | Does the service support your television, phone, computer, or streaming device? | Compatibility determines whether the authorized service is usable at home. |
Because sports rights, prices, blackouts, app availability, and geographic eligibility change frequently, this article does not rank current providers. A streaming media player can connect a television to authorized services such as Hulu, Sling TV, Amazon Prime Video, or YouTube TV, but a device does not provide rights to a particular league and must not be used to access pirate streams.
What should viewers remember?
The short answer is that Egyptian authorities and ACE disrupted Streameast on August 24, 2025, and announced the action on September 3, 2025. ACE reported 80 associated domains and very large traffic figures, but the shutdown is not proof that every later Streameast-branded site is authentic or safe. Avoid pirate downloads and use an authorized sports service instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Streameast mirror sites real?
A later domain using the Streameast name should not be assumed to be an official continuation. The original operation was disrupted in an action dated August 24, 2025, but the existence of a new branded domain does not establish who operates it or whether it is safe.
