Reported on January 27, 2026, the collection brought together explainers, schedules, highlights, season retrospectives, and related F1 coverage in a native Apple TV playlist. It was an onboarding feature ahead of Apple’s live F1 launch—not the live-race package itself.
Apple’s full U.S. offering arrived later, with every 2026 Grand Prix available live and on demand through an Apple TV subscription, alongside practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, additional data feeds, and Multiview.
What Apple added to the Apple TV app
The pre-season section was titled “Get Ready for Formula 1 on Apple TV” and was described as a collection of “highlights, previews, and more.” Unlike a conventional news story or a link to an outside website, the videos played directly inside the Apple TV app as a native playlist.
The reported collection included:
- Red Bull’s 2026 livery reveal
- An explanation of the 2026 Formula 1 rule changes
- A New Era of F1
- The 2026 Grand Prix schedule
- The 2026 Sprint schedule
- The F1 Academy schedule
- A review of the 2025 season
- Coverage of the Abu Dhabi championship decider
- Lando Norris in Ride with the Champ
- 2025 Formula 2 and Formula 3 coverage
The exact ordering and continued availability of each item were not established by the January report. The collection should therefore be understood as a snapshot of what Apple TV was promoting at that point, rather than a permanent catalog or a claim that Apple produced every listed program exclusively.

Why the timing was significant
Apple and Formula 1 announced a five-year U.S. partnership on October 17, 2025. Under that agreement, Apple TV became the exclusive U.S. home of F1 races beginning in 2026. The January collection appeared before the first Grand Prix, giving prospective viewers a way to learn the sport, review the previous season, and find out how the new season would be organized before live coverage began.
Apple’s own launch materials presented the partnership as more than a rights acquisition. The company described a broader fan experience built around live coverage, supporting programming, and year-round engagement. The App Store also promoted the 2026 season through race coverage, highlights, and pre- and post-race content.
That makes the playlist best understood as a product and editorial onboarding feature. Its likely functions were to:
- Explain the new season: The rule-change video and schedule items addressed the practical questions a new or returning viewer would have before the opening race.
- Introduce storylines: Livery coverage, the 2025 review, the Abu Dhabi finale, and the Lando Norris feature supplied recognizable teams, drivers, and narratives.
- Welcome casual viewers: Formula 1’s growing U.S. audience included people who might be interested in the sport but unfamiliar with its formats, terminology, and race weekend structure.
- Establish a viewing destination: By placing F1 on the Apple TV Home page before live events started, Apple began teaching viewers where to find Formula 1 inside its service.
The final point is an editorial inference from the timing and contents of the collection, not a statement Apple explicitly made about the playlist’s purpose.
From preparation to live F1 coverage
Apple’s full live product was detailed in a March 5, 2026 launch announcement. For U.S. subscribers, the package included every 2026 Grand Prix live and on demand, as well as the sessions surrounding each race:

The opening event was the Australian Grand Prix. Apple’s announcement listed the race for March 7 at 8 p.m. Pacific Time, while Formula 1’s official calendar identified the event weekend as March 6–8, with the race taking place on Sunday, March 8, in local Australian time. The difference reflects time-zone presentation rather than two different events.
Apple said coverage would offer English and Spanish commentary and up to 30 additional feeds across sessions. Those feeds included:
- Driver Tracker: A view focused on drivers’ positions and movements around the circuit.
- Real-time timing and telemetry: Live race data for viewers who want more than the conventional broadcast picture.
- Mixed onboard: A feed built around the drivers’ onboard cameras.
- Podium feed: A feed following the drivers running first, second, and third.
Apple Support describes the F1 area of the Apple TV app as including multiple live feeds, onboard driver cameras, live data, Driver Tracker, and pre- and post-race programming. Full access to events, shows, and features requires an Apple TV subscription, although Apple notes that individual events may occasionally be made available promotionally.

Multiview allows viewers on supported devices to watch up to four feeds simultaneously. Apple said the F1 experience includes preconfigured layouts for teams as well as customizable layouts, allowing a viewer to combine the main broadcast with feeds such as Driver Tracker, timing data, or an onboard camera.
This is especially relevant to viewers who follow strategy, pit stops, tire choices, and gaps between cars rather than treating the race as a single-camera television broadcast. It also gives Apple a way to differentiate the service for established F1 fans while the explainers and highlights help introduce the sport to newcomers.

U.S. availability, price, and supported devices
Access at the 2026 launch
- Geography: The rights and subscription details described here apply to the United States.
- Published price: Apple listed Apple TV at $12.99 per month in its March 5 announcement.
- Trial: Apple listed a seven-day free trial for new subscribers.
- Requirement: An Apple TV subscription is required for full access to the F1 events and features.

Apple listed support for the Apple TV app on:
- iPhone and iPad
- Apple TV 4K
- Apple Vision Pro
- Mac
- Selected Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, and TCL smart TVs
- Roku devices
- Amazon Fire TV devices
- Chromecast with Google TV
- PlayStation and Xbox consoles
- The web at tv.apple.com
For viewers who need a compatible television streaming device, a Fire TV Stick 4K Max is one possible route to the Apple TV app because Apple lists Amazon Fire TV devices among its supported platforms. The device does not include an Apple TV subscription or Formula 1 access; the subscription remains a separate requirement.
Apple TV 4K is another option for viewers who want Apple’s dedicated set-top box and a device Apple lists as supporting the F1 experience and Multiview. Compatibility can vary by app version, device generation, region, and feature, so buyers should verify current support before purchasing.
What “exclusive” means here—and what it does not mean
Apple’s Formula 1 rights are described as exclusive to the United States. This does not mean that Apple TV is the global home of F1, nor does it mean that the same subscription arrangement applies in every country where the Apple TV app is available.
The U.S. arrangement also includes F1 TV Premium through an Apple TV subscription rather than as a separately sold service in that market, according to the partnership announcement. Readers outside the United States should check the Formula 1 and local broadcaster listings for their country instead of assuming that the U.S. Apple TV package applies to them.

Other ways Apple connected the F1 experience
The partnership extended beyond video. Apple’s announcement said Apple Sports would provide live updates for qualifying, Sprint sessions, and races, together with leaderboards, standings, Live Activities, and an iPhone widget. That makes Apple Sports a companion for viewers who want timing, positions, or notifications without watching continuously.
Apple also promoted wider F1-related connections involving Apple Music, Apple News, podcasts, and Apple Maps circuit layouts. These additions fit Apple’s broader race-weekend strategy, but they should be kept separate from the January Apple TV playlist itself. The playlist was the early video collection; the other services were ecosystem extensions promoted around the live launch and subsequent race coverage.
Apple announced additional distribution and promotional arrangements involving Prime Video, Roku, DIRECTV, Xfinity, EverPass, Tubi, Yahoo Sports, TelevisaUnivision, and IMAX. The specific availability and function differed by partner. In particular, details such as which races would appear through Tubi were still to be announced in Apple’s March release, so those arrangements should not be treated as a universal alternative to the Apple TV subscription.

What viewers should take away
Apple’s January move was important because it separated the launch of the F1 viewing habit from the launch of the first live race. A viewer could encounter the sport inside the Apple TV app, learn about the 2026 regulations and schedules, review the 2025 season, and then transition to live coverage when the season began.
For experienced fans, the value of the pre-season collection was mainly convenience and consolidation. For newcomers, it supplied a starting point without requiring them to search across separate services for explainers, schedules, highlights, and historical context. The later live package added the features that make the service a full race destination: every session, multiple data-rich feeds, and four-way Multiview on supported hardware.

- Real 8K HDMI certified cable: The HDMI cables pass HDMI 2.1 Certified. The HDMI Cable delivers 10K 8K@60Hz and 4K@240Hz higher resolution, 4 times higher than 4K@60Hz. The advanced technology makes a remarkable improvement in image clarity and sharpness
- 48Gbps ultra high speed: The HDMI 2.1 Cable with 48Gbps bandwidth delivers uncompressed 8K(7680 x 4320) video and high-speed transmission without signal loss. Make it faster 2.6X than HDMI 2.0(18Gbps). The 4K@240Hz HDMI cord also supports variable refresh rates and QFT to decrease “display latency”. Auto low latency mode and quick media switching for movies and video use the HDMI VRR mechanism to eliminate the blackout period when an HDMI Source device switches its video mode
- Dynamic HDR & eARC: This HDMI Cable features Dynamic HDR to let you capture more details with 12-bit color accuracy and get breathtakingly realistic pictures. The function of eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) directly delivers full-resolution audio, like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X from TV to soundbar/AV receiver. Also Support HDCP 2.3/2.2, Ethernet, 3D
- Enhanced durability: Built with a robust aluminum alloy case, nickel-plated connectors, and a durable nylon braided jacket, HDMI cables can withstand more frequent bending tests and decrease rupture without reducing cable flexibility, ensuring enhanced signal transmission performance and a longer lifespan
- Wide compatibility: Compatible with Apple TV/PS5/PS4 Pro/Roku Stick, Xbox Series X/S/Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, Wii U, Mac mini M4/M4 Pro, Laptop, PC, Blu-ray player, AV Receiver, TV stick, TV Box, DVD player, LG 8K UHD TV, Samsung G8/G9 QLED TV, Soundbar, Projector, Monitor and more
The central limitation is geography. This is a U.S.-specific rights and subscription story, and the $12.99 monthly price and seven-day trial were terms Apple published on March 5, 2026—not guarantees that those terms will remain unchanged.
