How to watch Shark Week 2024 now
Because the 2024 event has ended, there is no longer a live Shark Week 2024 broadcast to tune into. The most direct historical online option was Max, where Discovery promoted the event for on-demand viewing. To stream Shark Week on Max, search the current Max catalog rather than assuming that every 2024 episode remains available.
That distinction matters: streaming libraries change, episodes may be grouped differently from the original broadcast, and availability can vary by country. The 2024 announcement confirms that Max was a destination for the event at launch; it does not establish that the complete season is still available in the United States or elsewhere.
Watching the original Discovery Channel broadcasts
The live premieres aired on Discovery Channel in the United States. In 2024, viewers could access the network through a traditional pay-TV provider or through selected live-TV streaming bundles. The contemporary viewing guide named Sling TV, DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV as examples of services carrying Discovery Channel at that time.

If you are trying to watch Discovery Channel without cable, check the provider’s current channel lineup before subscribing. Package names, channel carriage, prices, free trials, DVR rules, and regional availability are all subject to change. A live-TV service is most useful if you need a live Discovery feed or DVR functionality; it is not necessarily the cheapest way to watch an older season on demand.
Prime Video and physical media
Amazon-associated listings have historically included some Shark Week seasons or individual episodes for purchase, but the available evidence does not confirm that the complete 2024 event is currently sold or included with a Prime subscription. Check whether a listing is for the specific 2024 season, an individual program, a channel subscription, or an older collection before buying.
If you want a physical keepsake rather than a guaranteed way to watch the 2024 lineup, historical releases of archival Shark Week episodes on DVD may be worth investigating. Do not assume that a DVD collection contains the 2024 programs: the evidence supports historical Shark Week DVD releases, not a verified physical edition of the 2024 event.
What was Shark Week 2024?
Shark Week is Discovery Channel’s annual week-long programming event devoted to sharks and related marine research. The 2024 lineup mixed scientific investigations, underwater expeditions, shark behavior, attack analysis, species-focused documentaries, and high-drama promotional premises.

The programs were framed as investigations into questions such as how great whites feed, whether an unusual hammerhead population could represent a previously unrecognized species, and whether researchers could identify sharks involved in fatal attacks.

Those descriptions should be read as the premises of television specials, not as independently established scientific conclusions. A program investigating a possible new species has not thereby proved that the species exists, and a title such as “6,000lb. Shark” does not by itself verify the existence or measured weight of a particular animal.

Who hosted Shark Week 2024?
John Cena hosted Shark Week 2024. He replaced Jason Momoa, who hosted the 2023 edition. Cena’s hosting role was part of the event’s presentation; it does not mean he was the scientific authority behind every investigation in the lineup.
Important availability and accuracy notes
- This was a 2024 event: the original broadcast ran July 7–13, 2024, so articles or listings describing it as currently airing are outdated.
- It was a U.S. schedule: the network, times, and service options above refer to the United States. Other countries may have different broadcasters, dates, edits, or streaming rights.
- Max availability can change: the service was promoted for Shark Week 2024, but a current catalog search is needed to determine which episodes remain available.
- Live-TV services change: Sling TV, DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV were identified as Discovery Channel access paths in 2024. Their current channel lineups and offers should be verified directly.
- Promotional claims need context: “monster,” “serial killer,” possible new species, and extreme size claims describe the programs’ investigative framing. They should not automatically be treated as settled scientific findings.
The best way to find a 2024 episode today
- Search the current Max catalog for “Shark Week” and the individual program title.
- Confirm that the result is the 2024 special you want, rather than a similarly titled older episode or compilation.
- If Max does not carry it, check the official Discovery listing or your television provider’s on-demand library.
- Before paying through Prime Video or another storefront, verify the season year, episode title, purchase format, and whether the listing is a one-time purchase or channel access.
When a live-TV streaming bundle makes sense
A live-TV bundle is the better fit for viewers who want Discovery Channel as part of a broader cable replacement, who need live channel access, or who want DVR features. It is less compelling if the only goal is to watch one archived Shark Week special. Since the 2024 lineup was tied to a past broadcast, do not choose a service based on an old article’s price or free-trial language; verify the current Discovery Channel package and recording rules first.

A note about Shark Week DVDs
Older Shark Week DVD releases can serve as archival collections or gifts, but they are not a confirmed substitute for the 2024 lineup. Product descriptions may cover selected episodes or earlier seasons. Check the listed episode titles and release year carefully before purchasing.
