The original 220-episode Naruto series has also been offered through free, ad-supported services including Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee. But the headline needs an important correction: this does not establish that all 500 episodes of Naruto: Shippuden are free on one U.S. streaming service.
In other words, the free viewing plan is substantial, but it is not one complete, permanent, all-in-one Naruto library. Availability can vary by title, service, territory, audio track, device, and licensing window.
What became free?
VIZ’s November 6, 2024 announcement said that its official YouTube anime-movies playlist had added all Naruto and Naruto Shippuden movies. The movies could be watched without a subscription, with the normal advertising model associated with free YouTube viewing. You can find the announcement and VIZ’s linked programming through its official YouTube anime announcement.
Entertainment coverage identified the offer as 11 films in total:

- Three original Naruto movies: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, Legend of the Stone of Gelel, and Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom.
- Seven Naruto Shippuden-era movies: Naruto Shippuden the Movie, Bonds, The Will of Fire, The Lost Tower, Blood Prison, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie, and The Last: Naruto the Movie.
- One sequel-franchise movie: Boruto: Naruto the Movie.
The reported 11-film count is consistent with contemporary coverage, including The Outerhaven’s report. For the most reliable current status, however, VIZ’s own announcement is the primary reference.
The episode offer is narrower than the headline suggests
The original Naruto television anime contains 220 episodes. VIZ announced that those episodes were available around the clock through free, ad-supported Naruto programming on Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee. Freevee offered both a dedicated linear Naruto channel and on-demand access through the Freevee app, Fire TV, and Prime Video.
VIZ’s announcements do not say that all 500 episodes of Naruto: Shippuden became free in the same way. That is the key distinction behind the misleading phrase “all Naruto episodes and movies.” The free episode announcement applies specifically to the original 220-episode series—not automatically to the entire Shippuden sequel.
VIZ described the franchise as including multiple television series, films, and OVAs, with Boruto: Naruto Next Generations following Naruto’s son. A free movie or free original-series channel should therefore not be interpreted as a permanent free catalog of every Naruto-related special, OVA, sequel episode, or dub.

| What you want to watch | Free option to check | What the evidence establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Original Naruto series | Pluto TV | VIZ announced a free, ad-supported channel carrying all 220 original-series episodes. |
| Original Naruto series | Amazon Freevee / Prime Video Free with Ads | VIZ announced both a linear Naruto channel and on-demand availability on Freevee. |
| Naruto and Naruto Shippuden movies | VIZ’s official YouTube channel and anime-movies playlist | VIZ announced that all 11 films were added to the free, ad-supported movie offering in November 2024. |
| Original Naruto title | Tubi, The Roku Channel, Fandango at Home Free, or other current listing services | A dated U.S. catalog check identified these as free-with-ads possibilities, but availability can change. |
| Original Naruto title through a library | Hoopla | A current U.S. availability listing identified free library access; eligibility depends on your library system. |
The easiest approach is to check VIZ’s official YouTube presence for the films, then search the specific series title—not merely “Naruto franchise”—on the service you plan to use. Ads, sign-in requirements, supported devices, and language options may differ.

Current U.S. streaming snapshot
A JustWatch U.S. listing checked August 11, 2026 showed the original Naruto title available through a mix of subscription, ad-supported, free library, and purchase options. The listed subscription or ad-supported services included Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll, Crunchyroll’s Amazon Channel, Netflix Standard with Ads, Amazon Prime Video with Ads, and Hulu.
For no-subscription viewing, the same snapshot listed The Roku Channel, Amazon Prime Video Free with Ads, Pluto TV, Tubi, Fandango at Home Free, and Hoopla. It also listed DVD and Blu-ray purchase options.
This is a useful guide rather than a guarantee. JustWatch’s page concerns the original Naruto title and does not prove that every film, every Shippuden episode, every dub, or every subtitle track is included in each service’s catalog. Streaming rights are title-specific and can change without much notice.

How to watch without paying a subscription
- Start with the movies. Open VIZ’s official YouTube channel or anime-movies playlist and search for the individual film if the playlist does not display every entry in your region.
- Start the original series on a free channel. Check Pluto TV or Amazon Freevee for the Naruto channel and on-demand listing. Freevee may appear inside Prime Video as “Free with Ads,” depending on the device and account interface.
- Use a title-specific search. Search separately for Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, The Last: Naruto the Movie, and Boruto: Naruto the Movie. A service may carry one title without carrying the others.
- Confirm the audio and subtitle options. Do not assume that a free listing includes the English dub, Japanese audio, or a particular subtitle track. Check the player’s language menu before committing to a service.
- Expect advertisements and catalog changes. “Free” generally means free at the point of viewing but supported by ads, and a channel or movie can disappear when a licensing window ends.
What about all 500 episodes of Naruto: Shippuden?
The available evidence does not establish one U.S. service where all 500 Naruto: Shippuden episodes are permanently free. Some services may carry Shippuden episodes through a subscription, an ad-supported tier, a rotating free offer, or a separate channel arrangement, but those are different claims from VIZ’s confirmed offer for the original 220-episode series and the 11 movies.
If your goal is to watch the whole story, plan around three separate catalog questions:

- THIS TRENDS BACK TO THE FUTURE - ONE SHEET WALL POSTER uses high-resolution artwork and is printed on PhotoArt Gloss Poster Paper which enhances colors with a high-quality look and feel

- EASILY DECORATE any space to create the perfect decor for a party, bedroom, bathroom, kids room, living room, office, dorm, and more
- Are all 220 episodes of the original Naruto available?
- Which service carries the Shippuden episodes you need, and are they free, ad-supported, or subscription-only?
- Which of the films are available in your territory, and do you want to watch them according to release order or simply after finishing the main series?
This separation also prevents a common mistake: treating a listing for “Naruto” as proof that the service includes Shippuden, Boruto, OVAs, specials, and movies.
Are the movies essential to the main story?
Most Naruto films are side stories rather than required chapters of the television plot. They can be enjoyable extensions of the characters and world, but the viewing order and canon status vary by film. The Last: Naruto the Movie is especially significant to the franchise’s broader continuity and is generally best saved until after the main events of Naruto: Shippuden. Boruto: Naruto the Movie belongs to the next-generation part of the franchise.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For a first-time viewer, a practical route is to watch the original 220-episode series, continue into Naruto: Shippuden through a service that carries it, and then add films at a suitable point rather than assuming the YouTube playlist is a chronological episode replacement. If you are watching casually, the free movie playlist works well as a collection of bonus adventures.
Free streaming versus owning the series
Free services are the cheapest way to begin, but they are not the same as permanent ownership. A title may rotate out, a channel may change its schedule, and physical releases may include different language tracks or bonus features than a streaming version.
For readers who want a stable backup instead of relying on changing licenses, a Naruto complete series Blu-ray or DVD collection is an optional ownership route. Check the exact product listing, region compatibility, included episodes, and audio/subtitle specifications before buying; the availability information confirms physical purchase options, but it does not endorse one particular edition.

“All Naruto movies are free” is a defensible description of VIZ’s November 2024 movie announcement, subject to regional and licensing changes. “All Naruto episodes are free” is too broad unless it is explicitly limited to the original 220-episode series and a named service or channel.

The most accurate summary is:
In the United States, VIZ made all 11 Naruto and Naruto Shippuden movies available free with ads on its official YouTube channel, while the original 220-episode Naruto series was also offered through free ad-supported programming on services including Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee. The availability of Shippuden episodes and other franchise titles must be checked separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are all Naruto movies free to watch in the U.S.?
VIZ announced that all 11 Naruto and Naruto Shippuden movies were added to its official YouTube anime-movies playlist as free, ad-supported viewing. Check the individual movie listing because YouTube availability can change by territory and licensing window.
Are all 500 Naruto: Shippuden episodes free?
No such complete U.S. free offer is established by the available announcements. The confirmed free episode offer covers the original Naruto series’ 220 episodes, not automatically all 500 Shippuden episodes.
Where can I watch the original Naruto series for free?
Check Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee or Prime Video Free with Ads first. Current U.S. listings have also identified Tubi, The Roku Channel, Fandango at Home Free, and Hoopla, but catalogs vary and should be verified before watching.
Recommended Free Tools
Does free Naruto streaming include the English dub?
Not necessarily. Audio and subtitle options can differ by service, title, territory, and edition. Open the specific listing and check its language options rather than assuming the dub is included.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The major free-streaming news is real, but the precise version is narrower than the headline. VIZ made the 11 Naruto-related movies free with ads on YouTube, and the original 220-episode Naruto anime has been available through free ad-supported channels such as Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee. The 500-episode Naruto: Shippuden series, Boruto episodes, specials, and permanent availability are separate questions.
