There was no single, universally free online stream for every 2023 UFC Fight Night. In the United States, many cards required ESPN+, while selected main cards also aired on ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC. Short answer: There was no single, universally free online stream for every 2023 UFC Fight Night. In the United States, many cards required an ESPN+ subscription, while selected main cards also aired on ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC. If you had an eligible pay-TV or live-TV subscription, you could authenticate the ESPN app; if a card aired on ABC, you might have watched its main card over the air. The exact answer depended on the event, so identify the card by headliner and date, then check its official UFC “How to watch” information.
This guide is historical: it explains the U.S. distribution arrangements for events held in 2023. A 2023 broadcast listing, free trial, or subscription offer should not be assumed to remain available in 2026.
Was UFC Fight Night free to watch online in 2023?
Usually, no—not as a complete, legal, live internet stream with no subscription or television entitlement.

“UFC Fight Night” referred to a series of events rather than one particular card. ESPN’s 2023 schedule included, among others, Strickland vs. Imavov on January 14, Yan vs. Dvalishvili on March 11, Vettori vs. Cannonier on June 17, Emmett vs. Topuria on June 24, Sandhagen vs. Font on August 5, Fiziev vs. Gamrot on September 23, Yusuff vs. Barboza on October 14, and Song vs. Gutierrez on December 9.[c001] Each event could have a different television and streaming split.
For U.S. viewers, ESPN platforms were the authorized digital home of UFC programming under the UFC–ESPN arrangement. Some Fight Night events were promoted as UFC on ESPN cards, while others were UFC on ESPN+ cards. That distinction mattered: ESPN-network cards could be available through ESPN or ESPN2 with pay-TV authentication, but ESPN+ was still used for many prelims and for the full coverage of numerous events.[c002]
The legitimate ways to watch a 2023 UFC Fight Night
1. ESPN+ subscription
ESPN+ was the most consistent online destination for UFC Fight Night coverage in 2023. UFC event pages commonly listed the prelims on ESPN+, and many listed the main card there as well.
For example, UFC Fight Night: Pavlovich vs. Blaydes listed prelims at 4:30 p.m. Eastern and a 7:00 p.m. Eastern main card on ESPN2 and ESPN+.[c003] Fiziev vs. Gamrot used a similar arrangement, with the prelims on ESPN+ and the main card on ESPN2 and ESPN+.[c004]

That does not make ESPN+ a free stream. It is a subscription service, and access can depend on the plan, territory, and current rights. A page that says a UFC event is “on ESPN+” is generally telling you that ESPN+ access is required for that portion of the event unless you have another authorized entitlement.
2. ESPN or ESPN2 with television-provider authentication
Some cards were simulcast on an ESPN network and ESPN+. If you already subscribed to a qualifying cable, satellite, or live-TV provider, you could typically use that provider login in the ESPN app or Watch ESPN to access the network broadcast.
For Vettori vs. Cannonier, ESPN’s event guide listed the main card on ESPN and ESPN+ and the prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+.[c005] Sandhagen vs. Font was likewise listed on ESPN and ESPN+.[c006]
This may feel “free” at the point of viewing because you do not buy a separate UFC pay-per-view, but it is not free internet access in the broad sense. The authorization comes from an existing paid television or live-TV package. ESPN app access also does not necessarily mean that every part of every event is unlocked; the network and event listing determine what your credentials cover.

3. ABC for selected main cards
A small number of events had broader broadcast access. UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs. Topuria on June 24, 2023 listed its main card on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN+, while the prelims were listed on ESPN2 and ESPN+.[c007]
That meant viewers in an ABC broadcast area could potentially watch the main card over the air with a compatible antenna and an available local ABC station. It did not make the entire event universally free online: the prelims still had a different distribution, and local station availability varied.
4. A promotional ESPN+ trial
UFC’s ESPN+ explainer advertised a seven-day free trial during the period when that page was published.[c008] A trial could have been useful for an eligible new subscriber, but it should not be treated as a guaranteed way to watch a 2023 event. Trial eligibility, duration, pricing, renewal terms, and availability can change.
If a current signup page offers a trial, read its terms before starting it. Check when billing begins, whether the offer is limited to new or returning subscribers, and how to cancel before renewal if you do not want a paid subscription. Do not assume that canceling a trial retroactively restores access to an old event.

5. Official replays, results, and highlights
UFC and ESPN maintained official event pages with results, interviews, clips, post-show material, and replay information. These are legitimate choices if you missed the live broadcast. However, an official event page or highlight video is not a promise that the complete fight card is available free of charge.
ESPN event pages identified UFC Fight Night replays as ESPN+ content in the relevant listings.[c009] Availability can also depend on the date, territory, and the viewer’s account entitlement.
How to find the correct stream for a specific 2023 event
- Identify the exact card. Use the 2023 UFC schedule to match the event’s headliner and date. “UFC Fight Night” alone is not specific enough because there were many events.
- Open the matching UFC event page. Read the “How to watch” section rather than relying on a search-result headline or a third-party streaming listing.
- Separate the prelims from the main card. They may have different start times and different platforms. A main card on ESPN does not automatically mean the prelims are on ESPN.
- Check the time zone. UFC listings commonly used U.S. Eastern Time, while local schedules may display a different time. Confirm both the prelim and main-card start times.
- Match the listed platform to your entitlement. If ESPN+ is listed, you generally need ESPN+ for that portion. If ESPN or ESPN2 is listed, check whether your cable, satellite, or live-TV provider carries that network and supports ESPN authentication.
- Check ABC locally when it is listed. For a card such as Emmett vs. Topuria, verify that your local ABC station carried the broadcast. ABC availability is not identical in every location.
- Use official replay information after the event. If live access is no longer available, look for the event’s official replay, results, and highlights instead of assuming a third-party full-card video is authorized.
Examples from the 2023 schedule
| Event | Documented U.S. distribution | What that meant |
|---|---|---|
| Pavlovich vs. Blaydes | Prelims on ESPN+; main card on ESPN2 and ESPN+ | Online viewing required ESPN+ for the listed ESPN+ portions; ESPN2 access depended on a qualifying television entitlement. |
| Fiziev vs. Gamrot | Prelims on ESPN+; main card on ESPN2 and ESPN+ | The same basic split applied: ESPN+ was the direct online route, while ESPN2 required network access. |
| Vettori vs. Cannonier | Main card on ESPN and ESPN+; prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+ | A qualifying pay-TV or live-TV subscriber could authenticate the ESPN app for the network simulcast. |
| Sandhagen vs. Font | Listed on ESPN and ESPN+ | Viewers needed either the ESPN+ route or an eligible provider-backed ESPN entitlement, subject to the event listing. |
| Emmett vs. Topuria | Main card on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN+; prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+ | The main card could be available over the air through ABC in participating broadcast areas, but the full event was not universally free online. |
What “free UFC Fight Night stream” did not mean
A legal, complete, live internet stream of every 2023 UFC Fight Night with no subscription, provider login, or broadcast availability was not established by the distribution information. Consequently, any page promising one universal “free ESPN+ stream” was misleading: ESPN+ itself is a subscription product, and event pages placed some prelims and main cards behind ESPN+.[c003][c004][c010]
Avoid pirate stream aggregators, illegal mirrors, credential-sharing schemes, and instructions for bypassing ESPN’s geographic or subscription controls. Apart from violating rights or service terms, these sites can use deceptive download buttons, aggressive advertising, malware, and constantly changing domains. They are not a reliable substitute for checking the official event listing.

Watching authorized ESPN coverage on a television
If you already have ESPN+ or a qualifying ESPN television entitlement but your TV does not have a convenient streaming app, a compatible streaming player can simplify setup. A Roku Streaming Stick 4K connects to a compatible television through HDMI and uses Wi-Fi for streaming.[c011] It is optional hardware: it does not include ESPN+, does not provide ESPN network authentication by itself, and does not turn a subscription event into a free stream. You still need the appropriate ESPN account or provider access.
Before buying any streaming device, confirm that your television has a compatible HDMI port, that your Wi-Fi connection is adequate, and that the required ESPN app is supported in your country and on the device’s current software.
U.S. rules do not automatically apply internationally
The ESPN arrangement described here was specific to the United States.[c002] UFC rights varied by country, and ESPN+ was not a universal international answer. Viewers outside the U.S. should use the local UFC broadcaster or the event’s country-specific “How to watch” information. Do not infer international availability from a U.S. ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPN+ listing.
Bottom line
For a 2023 UFC Fight Night, start with the exact event page—not the generic event name. ESPN+ was the dependable U.S. online destination, but some main cards were also simulcast on ESPN or ESPN2 for authenticated television subscribers, and selected events such as Emmett vs. Topuria were carried on ABC. A promotional trial might have been available at the time, but it was conditional and temporary. There was no single legal, universally free online stream for the complete 2023 Fight Night schedule.

No. ESPN+ was a subscription service, although a promotional seven-day trial was advertised during the period covered by the historical information. Trial eligibility and terms were conditional and could change.
Was ESPN+ free for UFC Fight Night in 2023?
For cards listed on ESPN or ESPN2, a qualifying cable, satellite, or live-TV subscription could let you authenticate the ESPN app. That was paid television access, not universally free internet streaming.
Could I watch UFC Fight Night with a cable subscription?
Yes. Emmett vs. Topuria on June 24, 2023 was listed on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN+ for the main card. Local ABC availability varied, and the prelims had a separate ESPN2/ESPN+ listing.
Did any 2023 UFC Fight Night main cards air on ABC?
Official UFC and ESPN pages offered results, highlights, interviews, and replay information, but a complete free replay was not guaranteed. Relevant replays were identified as ESPN+ content in the event listings.
Can I watch a 2023 UFC Fight Night replay for free?
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: In the U.S., many 2023 UFC Fight Night events required ESPN+, while selected cards were also available through authenticated ESPN/ESPN2 access or, in limited cases, ABC. Check the exact UFC event page for the card, date, start times, and platform. Do not treat a 2023 trial or broadcast arrangement as a current offer.
