When was the American Idol Season 23 finale?
The American Idol Season 23 finale aired Sunday, May 18, 2025, rather than serving as an upcoming broadcast. The three-hour finale began at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ABC. ABC’s official program information and 2025 press materials provide the network and schedule details, while ABC News’ report on the Top 3 confirms the finalists heading into the finale.
Readers searching “What time is American Idol tonight?” should use the date as the important qualifier: Season 23 concluded on May 18, 2025, so that broadcast is no longer live as of August 13, 2026. A current ABC schedule should be checked for any later season instead of treating the Season 23 finale time as a current listing.

Viewers could watch the Season 23 finale live through their local ABC station at 8:00 p.m. Eastern / 5:00 p.m. Pacific on May 18, 2025. ABC access depended on the viewer’s local affiliate, so a live-TV streaming provider could only be used if that provider carried the local ABC station in the viewer’s market.
That distinction matters for cord-cutters. A live-TV service should not be described as carrying ABC nationwide without checking the provider’s current local-channel coverage and the viewer’s ZIP code. The historical schedule itself is supported by ABC’s May 2025 ratings and programming report.
