Scottie Scheffler had just won his second Masters when he turned his attention to Meredith, his pregnant wife waiting at home in Dallas: “I’m coming home. I’ll be home as quick as I can.”
Scottie Scheffler had just won the 2024 Masters when his attention turned from the second green jacket of his career to his pregnant wife, Meredith, waiting at home in Dallas.
During the post-round interview and presentation in Butler Cabin on Sunday, April 14, 2024, Scheffler was asked whether he had a message for Meredith. His answer was brief and personal: I’m coming home. I’ll be home as quick as I can.
He also told her that he loved her and said he was looking forward to celebrating with her.
Meredith was pregnant with their first child
Meredith was not at Augusta National for the final round. She was at home in Dallas, pregnant with the couple’s first child. Before the tournament ended, Scheffler had made clear that the possibility of becoming a father took priority over completing the Masters.

According to PGA TOUR reporting before the final round, Scheffler and Meredith kept open lines of communication, and he was prepared to leave immediately if she went into labor. That was a contingency plan—not something that happened during the final round. Scheffler completed the tournament and won it.
Scheffler won his second Masters by four strokes
Scheffler entered the final round as the leader and finished the tournament four strokes ahead, earning his second Masters title after his first victory in 2022. The win reinforced his status as the dominant player in golf at the time, but the Butler Cabin exchange shifted the emotional focus of the afternoon.
Rather than treating the victory as the defining event of his life, Scheffler publicly framed it alongside the impending birth of his first child. He had already said that he would leave the most important tournament of his season if Meredith needed him. After the final putt and the presentation, his first public message to her was that he was coming home as quickly as possible.

PGA TOUR coverage has portrayed Meredith as an important source of support, including around his earlier Masters breakthrough. Scheffler has likewise emphasized that his identity and family priorities are not determined by a golf score. Those are his stated public perspectives; the brief interview does not establish private details about the couple’s marriage or their arrangements.
What Scheffler actually said
The public exchange happened in the post-round Butler Cabin interview and presentation setting. It should not be described as a private phone call, and there is no reliable basis for adding a specific flight, departure time, or arrival time. The supported point is simpler: after completing the Masters, Scheffler wanted to return to Dallas quickly to be with Meredith.
