This is Spotify’s global artist ranking. It is not the U.S.-only list, a ranking of the world’s music sales, or a judgment of artistic quality. Spotify publishes separate global, U.S., song, album, and other Wrapped categories, so those results should not be treated as interchangeable.
Taylor Swift takes the top spot again
Spotify reported that Taylor Swift generated more than 26.6 billion global streams during 2024, making her the platform’s Global Top Artist for the year. Spotify also described the result as Swift’s second consecutive year at No. 1.

Her 2024 streaming performance coincided with sustained interest in The Eras Tour and the release of THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY. Spotify said the album passed 300 million streams in a single day on April 19, 2024. The company also said “Fortnight” became the most-streamed song on Spotify in a single day when it was released. Those figures are Spotify’s own platform claims, rather than a measurement of Swift’s total audience across every music service.

2. The Weeknd
The Weeknd finished second in Spotify’s global artist ranking. His placement puts him immediately behind Swift and ahead of Bad Bunny, Drake, and the rest of the top 10.
3. Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny ranked third globally. His appearance alongside Peso Pluma and Feid means three Latin or urbano artists appeared in the global top 10, although the list alone does not establish the size of any genre or regional audience.
4. Drake
Drake took fourth place in Spotify’s 2024 global ranking.

What this ranking actually measures
Spotify’s year-end artist ranking reflects listening activity on Spotify during 2024. It should be described as a list of the platform’s most-streamed artists globally, not as a universal ranking of the most popular musicians in the world.

The result does not directly measure:
- music sales or downloads;
- concert attendance or touring revenue;
- radio airplay;
- streams on Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon Music, or other services;
- critical acclaim;
- the number of individual fans; or
- the artists’ total worldwide audience across all platforms.

Global ranking versus U.S. ranking
The word global is important. Spotify’s 2024 Wrapped materials included both worldwide and U.S. rankings. A U.S.-only chart may contain a different order or different artists, so it should not be substituted for the list above.
In the same way, the global artist ranking should not be confused with Spotify’s top songs or top albums. Those are separate Wrapped categories with their own results and methodology.

The names span major pop, hip-hop, Latin, and urbano acts, demonstrating the broad range of artists represented in Spotify’s worldwide listening data. But a list of ten artists cannot by itself prove changes in genre share, listener demographics, or the overall state of the music business. Those conclusions would require separate, current data.
