The quickest way to remove a video from Amazon Prime Video’s Continue Watching row depends on your device: use the title’s three-dot menu on the web, press and hold it in the mobile app, or press the Fire TV remote’s Menu button and choose Remove from Continue Watching.
Remove a title from Continue Watching
The quickest way depends on your device. On a computer, open the title’s three-dot menu in the Continue Watching row and choose Hide this movie, Hide this video, or the equivalent removal option. On a phone or tablet, press and hold the title and choose the hide option. On Fire TV, highlight the title, press the remote’s Menu button, and select Remove from Continue Watching.
Amazon changes the wording and layout between its web interface, mobile apps, Fire TV, and other television platforms. Look for the title’s contextual menu rather than trying to delete it from your Watchlist.
On a desktop or laptop web browser
- Sign in to Prime Video in your browser.
- On the Home page, find the Continue Watching carousel.
- Move your pointer over the movie or show you want to remove.
- Select the title’s three-dot More or options button.
- Choose Hide this movie, Hide this season, Hide this video, or the equivalent removal command shown by your interface.
The current browser design generally puts the control in the three-dot menu. Older versions of Prime Video used an Edit control followed by an X. If you do not see Edit or an X, that does not necessarily mean the feature is unavailable; look for Hide in the title’s options menu instead.

On an iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet
- Open the Prime Video app and switch to the profile where the title appears.
- Find the Continue Watching row.
- Press and hold the movie, show, or episode.
- Tap Hide this video or the equivalent remove/hide command.
The exact label and gesture can differ by operating-system version and Prime Video app version. The important step is to open the title’s contextual menu from the Continue Watching row. Opening the player, adding the title to a Watchlist, or deleting it from the Watchlist will not perform the same action.
On Fire TV
- Open Prime Video on your Fire TV device.
- Highlight the title in the Continue Watching row. Do not open it.
- Press the remote’s Menu button—the button marked with three horizontal lines.
- Select Remove from Continue Watching.
This Fire TV option is available when the device displays a Continue Watching row. If the title is from a third-party streaming app shown through Fire TV, the removal process may belong to that app instead. For example, Netflix content must be managed from Netflix’s own content-detail page rather than through Prime Video’s Fire TV menu.
Optional: watching Prime Video on a television without built-in Fire TV
You do not need to buy anything to remove a video if the web or mobile method works for you. If you want the dedicated Fire TV menus on a compatible television, an Amazon Fire TV Stick is one optional way to watch Prime Video through Fire TV. Hardware is not required for this account-management task, and the exact device model and availability depend on your region and television setup.
Continue Watching is not the same as Watch History
Continue Watching is the row used for viewing progress or recently started content. Watch History is an account setting that records watched movies and episodes. Watchlist is a separate list of titles you saved to watch later.

Hiding or removing a title from Continue Watching should not be described as a guaranteed, account-wide deletion of every viewing record or recommendation. Amazon’s interfaces can expose these controls differently, and a third-party app may keep its own history and progress.
If the video still appears
Check the Prime Video profile
Make sure you are using the same Prime Video profile in which the title was watched. Profiles have separate lists and viewing activity, so removing an item from one profile may not remove it from another.
Try Watch History as a fallback
If the Continue Watching row has no removal control, open Prime Video’s account settings and look for Watch History. If the relevant movie or episode is listed there, remove that entry if the available control allows it.

This is a fallback, not a universal reset. Deleting a Watch History entry does not guarantee that every recommendation, profile record, Continue Watching entry, or third-party-app record will disappear immediately.

If you selected Hide, Prime Video may place the title in a Hidden videos area. That is different from a temporary row refresh. If you later want the title back, use the Hidden videos area to restore it where that option is available.
Refresh the app or browser
Close and reopen the Prime Video app, or refresh the browser page after making the change. This can update a stale Continue Watching row, although it is a practical synchronization step rather than a guaranteed fix.

Check other devices and services
If someone watches the title again on another device or profile, it can be added back to a Continue Watching row. Also check whether the item actually belongs to another streaming provider surfaced on the device; that provider may control its own progress and history.

Prime Video is available across computers, mobile devices, Amazon devices, smart TVs, game consoles, set-top boxes, and other media players. However, Amazon documents the removal workflow most clearly for the web interface, mobile app, and Fire TV. On another television or streaming player, highlight the title and open its options, More, or contextual menu. The command may be called Hide, Remove from Continue Watching, or something similar.
If no such command appears, use the browser or mobile-app method with the same Prime Video profile, then reopen the television app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does removing a video from Continue Watching delete my watch history?
No. Continue Watching, Watch History, and Watchlist are separate Prime Video features. Removing a title from Continue Watching does not guarantee that its viewing history, recommendations, or records in a third-party app are erased.
Why can’t I find the X to remove a Prime Video title?
On Fire TV, highlight the title, press the remote’s Menu button with three horizontal lines, and select Remove from Continue Watching. On other devices, look for Hide or a similar command in the title’s options menu.
Why does the title come back after I remove it?
Switch to the Prime Video profile where the title was watched. Profiles have separate viewing lists. Also check whether the title belongs to another streaming service, which may require removal in that service’s app.
The Bottom Line
Use the title’s own options menu: Hide on the web or mobile app, or Remove from Continue Watching from the Fire TV Menu button. If the control is missing, verify the profile and try Watch History as a fallback—but do not assume that removes every related record.
