Netflix starts at $8.99 with ads, Disney+ at $11.99 with ads, HBO Max at $10.99 with ads, Paramount+ at $8.99, and Apple TV at $12.99 after its seven-day trial.
The most important comparison is not the cheapest monthly number. Ads, catalogue restrictions, simultaneous streams, 4K/HDR, downloads, sports, live TV, and bundles can change which plan actually costs less for your household. | Disney+ | Disney+ with ads: $11.99/month | Disney+ Premium: $18.99/month or $189.99/year | The ad-supported plan supports up to 4K/HDR. Premium adds downloads on up to 10 devices and Dolby Atmos where supported. |
| HBO Max | Basic with Ads: $10.99/month or $109.99/year | Standard: $18.49/month or $184.99/year Premium: $22.99/month or $229.99/year |

| Peacock | Select: $7.99/month or $79.99/year Premium: $10.99/month or $109.99/year |
Premium Plus: $16.99/month or $169.99/year | Select excludes movies, sports, and Peacock Originals. Premium includes those categories with ads. Premium Plus removes ads except for limited content, channels, and live events. |
| Paramount+ | Plans start at $8.99/month | Premium: $13.99/month | Premium includes SHOWTIME originals and movies without ordinary ad breaks, but live TV contains ads and plans may include trailers or sponsorships. |
| Apple TV | $12.99/month after a seven-day trial | Apple TV is also included in Apple One and certain student or hardware offers. In the U.S., Apple says its 2026 subscription includes Formula 1 and every Major League Soccer match. | |
The lowest advertised monthly number is not automatically the cheapest way to get the programming you want. Peacock Select is the cheapest listed entry option at $7.99, for example, but it excludes movies, sports, and Peacock Originals. A documentary viewer may get more practical use from a costlier service if it has the specific films or series they intend to watch.

What you actually pay depends on more than the headline price
These are regular prices rather than short-term introductory offers, but they are not guaranteed forever. Streaming companies change prices, and third-party billing can produce a different amount. Taxes may be added at checkout. App-store billing, cable and mobile bundles, grandfathered subscriptions, regional rights, and account-specific promotions can all affect the final bill.
Annual plans are not available in the table for every service. Netflix, Hulu, Paramount+, and Apple TV are shown here at their published monthly prices. Disney+, HBO Max, and Peacock publish annual options. The annual figures are useful only if you expect to keep the service long enough to use them; an annual subscription is less flexible if you watch one series and then stop.
The Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle is the biggest bundle comparison
For U.S. customers who subscribe directly, the Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle costs:
| Bundle | Monthly price | Annualized cost | Included tiers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ad-supported bundle | $19.99/month | $239.88 for 12 months | Disney+ with ads, Hulu with ads, and HBO Max Basic with Ads |
| No-ads bundle | $32.99/month | $395.88 for 12 months | Disney+ Premium, Hulu Premium, and HBO Max Standard |
The difference between the two bundle versions is $13 per month, or $156 per year. The no-ads version is not completely free of every promotional interruption: individual services can still have exceptions for live, linear, or promotional content.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The ad-supported bundle is substantially cheaper than buying the three included services separately at their listed standalone prices. Disney+ with ads, Hulu with ads, and HBO Max Basic with Ads would total $42.97 per month, compared with $19.99 in the bundle. The no-ads tiers would total $67.47 per month—Disney+ Premium, Hulu without ads, and HBO Max Standard—compared with $32.99 in the bundle. Those comparisons are useful only if you genuinely want all three services. Paying for a bundle you barely use is not a saving.
This bundle is for direct-billed U.S. purchases. Each service continues to be accessed through its own app or service environment rather than becoming one combined application.
Other bundles worth checking
Disney+ and Hulu
The Disney+ and Hulu bundle costs $12.99 per month with ads or $19.99 per month without ads. This can be a simpler alternative to the three-service bundle if HBO Max is not part of your regular viewing.
Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN
Disney also lists these combinations:
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select with ads: $19.99/month.
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select premium version: $29.99/month.
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited with ads: $35.99/month.
- Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited premium version: $44.99/month.
These should not be compared with ordinary Disney+ or Hulu plans as though ESPN were just another on-demand library. The price difference reflects the sports access attached to the package.

Apple TV and Peacock
Apple TV and Peacock offer another two-service combination:
- Apple TV + Peacock Premium: $14.99/month.
- Apple TV + Peacock Premium Plus: $19.99/month.
At the published standalone prices, Apple TV plus Peacock Premium would cost $23.98 per month, while Apple TV plus Premium Plus would cost $29.98. The bundle therefore represents a listed monthly difference of $8.99 or $9.99 respectively. Apple says the bundle has no annual plan at launch.
Monthly versus annual pricing
Annual billing generally becomes worthwhile when you expect to use a service for at least 11 months, rather than subscribing for a short documentary series and cancelling. The published annual prices are:
| Service and plan | Monthly for 12 months | Annual price | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Disney+ Premium | $227.88 | $189.99 | $37.89 less |
| HBO Max Basic with Ads | $131.88 | $109.99 | $21.89 less |
| HBO Max Standard | $221.88 | $184.99 | $36.89 less |
| HBO Max Premium | $275.88 | $229.99 | $45.89 less |
| Peacock Premium | $131.88 | $109.99 | $21.89 less |
| Peacock Premium Plus | $203.88 | $169.99 | $33.89 less |
Peacock describes its annual plans as 12 months for the price of 10. Disney+ Premium is also roughly a 10-month break-even purchase: after about 10 months, the annual and monthly totals are close, and keeping the monthly plan for an 11th month makes annual billing cheaper. The same general rule applies to HBO Max and Peacock. Check the cancellation and renewal terms before committing, especially if you are using a temporary offer.
Ads, downloads, and 4K can change the value of a plan
Ad-supported does not always mean the same thing
Ad-supported plans differ in both price and catalogue access. Netflix Standard with ads is a lower-cost version of Netflix, while Peacock Select is also a catalogue-limited tier: it excludes movies, sports, and Peacock Originals. Paramount+ plans include ordinary advertising distinctions, but Paramount says Premium still has ads on live TV and may include trailers or sponsorships. Peacock Premium Plus has limited exceptions for channels, live sports or events, and some other content. Disney+ also warns that select live and linear programming or promotional material may contain ads.
Therefore, choose based on the actual interruption and catalogue rules of the service—not simply whether the plan name says “without ads” or “Premium.”
4K and HDR are concentrated in specific tiers
- Netflix Premium: 4K Ultra HD, HDR, four simultaneous devices, and downloads on six supported devices.
- Disney+ with ads: supports up to 4K/HDR; Disney+ Premium adds downloads on up to 10 devices and Dolby Atmos where supported.
- HBO Max Standard: Full HD, two devices, and up to 30 downloads.
- HBO Max Premium: four devices, 4K UHD on select titles, advanced audio/video formats on supported content, and up to 100 downloads.
These features require compatible content, devices, and internet connections. Paying for 4K is unlikely to matter if the television, streaming player, connection, or particular title does not support it. Likewise, a larger download allowance matters most to households that travel or use several mobile devices.
Household sharing and simultaneous streams
Simultaneous-device limits are more relevant than the number of profiles when several people watch at once. Netflix Premium’s four-device limit can matter to a family more than its 4K capability. HBO Max Standard permits two devices, while Premium permits four. Before upgrading, determine whether the problem is concurrent viewing, picture quality, downloads, or access to a particular title; each is a different reason to pay more.

Sports and live TV are different spending decisions
A live-TV plan should not be ranked beside a basic on-demand subscription as if they were equivalent products. Live sports, news, channels, DVR storage, regional restrictions, and blackouts can make a package closer to a cable replacement than a streaming library.
Hulu + Live TV
Hulu lists Hulu with Ads + Live TV at $89.99/month. It includes more than 100 channels, unlimited DVR, Disney+ access, and additional ESPN content, subject to regional restrictions and blackouts. That price is not an upgrade price for ordinary Hulu on-demand; it is a separate live-TV product.
Paramount+
Paramount+ promotes NFL on CBS, UFC, and UEFA Champions League access. Its Premium plan adds local-CBS access where offered, but live television still contains advertising. Sports availability can depend on location and rights, so confirm the event and local coverage before subscribing for a single competition.
Peacock
Peacock Premium and Premium Plus include live sports and events, while Select excludes sports. Premium Plus removes most ordinary ads but retains exceptions for some live events and channels. If sports are the reason for subscribing, the ad-free label should not be treated as a promise of an uninterrupted live broadcast.
Apple TV
Apple says that, in the U.S. beginning in 2026, Apple TV includes Formula 1 and every Major League Soccer match. Those rights can make the $12.99 monthly price more relevant to a sports viewer than to someone choosing only among on-demand documentary libraries.
How to choose without overpaying
- Start with the next specific thing you will watch. If one documentary or series is the reason for subscribing, check where it is available and whether the relevant tier includes it. Do not buy a bundle solely because its monthly number looks low.
- Decide whether ads are acceptable. If they are, compare the actual catalogue restrictions. A low-priced tier that omits the content you want is not a useful bargain.
- Count simultaneous viewers. Two viewers may fit Netflix Standard or HBO Max Standard; a larger household may need a four-device tier. This is a household-use question, not just a picture-quality question.
- Pay for 4K, HDR, Atmos, or downloads only when you can use them. Check the television, sound system, connection, compatible device, and title support first.
- Separate sports from entertainment budgeting. A live-TV or sports package can cost much more than an on-demand plan, but may replace another sports or television bill.
- Compare bundles with the services you would otherwise buy. The Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle is compelling only for someone who uses all three. The Apple TV and Peacock bundle works similarly.
- Check how you are billed. Direct billing, app stores, carriers, and third-party providers can have different prices, taxes, cancellation paths, or included benefits.
Subscription rotation is often the most flexible budget strategy
For viewers who do not need every service continuously, keep one or two subscriptions active, finish the specific show or documentary you wanted, and then cancel or pause the others. Re-subscribe when a new release justifies it. This avoids paying for 12 months of several libraries that are used only occasionally.
Rotation is less attractive when a service is needed for live sports, when an annual plan is already paid for, or when a bundle genuinely replaces multiple subscriptions. It is also worth checking whether cancelling removes downloads or access immediately, and whether a future reactivation will use the same price and plan terms.

If an older television lacks current streaming apps, an optional Roku Streaming Stick 4K can provide access to common streaming services and supports 4K, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and long-range Wi-Fi. Roku listed a direct price of $49.99 on the researched product page, although retail prices can vary. A streaming player is a one-time hardware expense; it does not reduce Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, or other subscription fees.
Before buying any player, check that the television has a compatible HDMI port, that the home network reaches the TV reliably, and that the desired services support the device. The player can simplify switching among apps, but it cannot bypass regional rights, sports blackouts, plan limits, or subscription requirements.

Prices to recheck before publishing or subscribing
Streaming prices are unusually volatile. Recheck Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock, and all bundle prices immediately before publication or purchase. Also verify whether the price is direct-billed, whether taxes are included, whether a promotion expires, what happens at renewal, and whether the plan is available in the customer’s location.
For documentary viewers, the most defensible comparison is therefore a personal one: identify the titles or live events you need, choose the least expensive tier that includes them, count household use and device requirements, and cancel services that are no longer earning their monthly cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest streaming service in 2026?
The cheapest listed entry price is Peacock Select at $7.99 per month, or $79.99 per year. It is not a full Peacock comparison because Select excludes movies, sports, and Peacock Originals. Netflix Standard with ads costs $8.99 per month, Paramount+ plans start at $8.99, and HBO Max Basic with Ads costs $10.99.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Are annual streaming plans cheaper than monthly plans?
Yes, if you expect to keep the service for roughly 11 months or longer. Peacock markets its annual plans as 12 months for the price of 10, while Disney+ Premium, HBO Max, and Peacock annual plans are also cheaper than paying monthly for a full year. Annual billing is less flexible if you only want one show or documentary.
Does an ad-free streaming plan remove every advertisement?
Not necessarily. Paramount+ says live TV contains ads and plans may include trailers or sponsorships. Peacock Premium Plus has exceptions for channels, live sports and events, and some content. Disney+ also warns about ads in select live or linear programming and promotional material.
Is Hulu + Live TV the same as regular Hulu?
No. Hulu with Ads + Live TV is a separate cable-replacement-style product priced at $89.99 per month. It includes 100-plus channels, unlimited DVR, Disney+ access, and additional ESPN content, with regional restrictions and blackouts. It should not be compared directly with Hulu’s $19.99 on-demand plan.
How can I reduce my streaming bill?
It depends on your viewing. A bundle saves money only when you use the included services. If you watch one documentary series and then stop, monthly subscription rotation—keeping one or two services active and cancelling the rest—can cost less than maintaining several subscriptions year-round.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: In the U.S., listed streaming prices in 2026 run from $7.99/month for limited Peacock Select to $29.99/month for standalone Hulu without ads, while Hulu + Live TV costs $89.99/month. The clearest multi-service saving is the direct-billed Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle at $19.99/month with ads or $32.99/month for its higher tiers. Choose bundles only when you use the included services, and rotate standalone subscriptions when your viewing is occasional.
