Update — August 12, 2026: The YouTube TV–Disney blackout ended on November 14, 2025, after Disney and YouTube TV reached a new multi-year agreement.
Short answer: You do not need a Disney-blackout workaround today, and there is no currently scheduled NCAA football slate for August 15–16, 2026. The 2026 college-football season is scheduled to begin with Week 0 games on August 29. When games begin, check the specific network: YouTube TV and authenticated ESPN access cover eligible ESPN networks, while an antenna can cover local ABC broadcasts where reception is available.
The date correction matters
The headline describes a real dispute, but it is no longer a current blackout alert. The previous Disney–YouTube TV carriage agreement expired at the end of October 2025. YouTube TV said on October 30 that Disney had suspended its content, removing channels and programming such as ABC and ESPN. The outage lasted more than two weeks and ended on November 14, 2025, when Disney and YouTube TV announced a new multi-year distribution agreement.

Disney said the new agreement restored its full linear portfolio, including ABC, all ESPN networks, Disney-branded channels, Freeform, FX Networks and National Geographic channels. YouTube TV also said that previously affected recordings would be restored.

There are no NCAA football games this weekend
As of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, there is no currently scheduled NCAA college-football slate for Saturday and Sunday, August 15–16. The 2026 season begins later in the month: Week 0 is scheduled to start on August 29, with most Week 1 games scheduled for September 5 during Labor Day weekend.
The first listed Week 0 matchups include North Carolina–TCU, Hawai‘i–Stanford, NC State–Virginia and Memphis–UNLV, among others. Broadcast information is still developing for some games, so check the current NCAA.com, ESPN or network schedule before relying on a particular channel or streaming service.
If you saw the original headline during the 2025 dispute, it was referring to the late-October and early-November 2025 football schedule—not the weekend of August 15–16, 2026.
How to watch the 2026 college-football season
There is no single answer to how to watch a college-football game. The rights depend on the specific matchup and the network carrying it. Check the game listing first, then match the network to an eligible viewing method.

YouTube TV: check the plan and your local ABC station
Because the Disney dispute has been resolved, YouTube TV is again the straightforward choice for a future game carried by ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network or another ESPN network—provided that your current plan includes the channel. YouTube TV describes its main plan as a broad package with more than 100 channels, but channel access can vary by subscription and billing arrangement. Check the current plan details rather than relying on an old channel list.
ABC is a local broadcast network, so YouTube TV cannot promise the same ABC affiliate in every location. Enter your ZIP code in YouTube TV’s current channel or plan-availability check before subscribing or changing plans. If you travel, YouTube TV says local-channel access is based on your current location, and sports shown on local affiliates are subject to local-market availability.
The ESPN app is an authentication tool, not a universal workaround
For games on ESPN networks, you can use the ESPN app or ESPN.com/watch after signing in with an eligible TV or internet-provider account. The app checks whether that provider and package entitle you to the live program. Installing the app does not by itself provide free access to live ESPN programming.
Disney’s November 2025 distribution announcement also said that ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer Unlimited Plan would be made available at no additional cost to YouTube TV subscribers under the agreement. Product names, activation steps and eligibility can change, so use the current YouTube TV or ESPN activation flow when the service prompts you. Do not assume that an old activation link or a different ESPN subscription provides the same entitlement.

If you want to watch on a television rather than a phone or computer, a supported streaming device for the ESPN app can provide a compatible screen and app platform. It still requires the appropriate ESPN or provider authentication; the device itself does not unlock a game.
Using an antenna for ABC games
An antenna is a useful fallback only when the game is being broadcast by your local ABC station. An indoor TV antenna may receive that over-the-air ABC signal without a YouTube TV subscription, but reception depends on your distance from the transmitter, terrain, building materials, antenna placement and the station’s VHF or UHF signal. An outdoor antenna may be more effective in difficult reception areas.
Before game day, check whether the ABC affiliate is receivable at your address, place the antenna near an exterior wall or window when practical, select the appropriate VHF/UHF-capable model and rescan the television’s channels after moving it. Reception can differ substantially between neighboring homes, so an antenna is not a guaranteed substitute for pay-TV access.
An antenna cannot receive ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network or ACC Network. It replaces access to a local broadcast station such as ABC; it does not replace a cable or streaming package carrying a pay-TV sports network.

What to do during a future carriage dispute
- Identify the game’s network. A team’s game may move between ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network or another outlet. The team name alone does not tell you how to watch.
- Check whether your current provider still carries that network. Look at the provider’s live channel guide and the network’s current authentication list.
- Check the local-market issue separately. Even when a provider carries ABC nationally, the local affiliate may not be available at every ZIP code.
- Use the ESPN app only with valid credentials. If the app asks you to select a provider, that is an entitlement check—not a problem that can normally be bypassed.
- Use an antenna if the game is on local ABC. Confirm reception and rescan before kickoff.
- Consider another legitimate provider only after comparing the exact details. Verify the game’s network, your ZIP code, the provider’s current lineup, the package price and any applicable trial or promotional terms.
A competing live-TV service can be a sensible emergency option if a future dispute removes the required network, but there is no universal substitute that works for every game or market. Provider lineups and local ABC availability are volatile; a recommendation that is correct for one ZIP code or game date may be wrong for another.

What not to use as a blackout workaround
Do not rely on unauthorized streams, mirror sites or websites promising free ESPN access. ESPN’s access guidance indicates that live network programming generally requires an eligible provider or subscription entitlement. Unofficial streams are also more likely to be unreliable, interrupted by aggressive advertising or used to distribute malware. They are not a responsible replacement for an authorized broadcast.
A service designed to loop a user’s prerecorded video into a YouTube Live stream is not a consumer live-sports viewing service, either. It cannot supply rights to an NCAA game. Likewise, PC-optimization software cannot restore a missing carriage agreement or authenticate an ESPN subscription; the problem is distribution rights and account entitlement, not computer performance.
