Lux Pascal is a Chilean-American actress, transgender activist, and Juilliard-trained performer. She is also the younger sister of actor Pedro Pascal, but her career extends well beyond that family connection: she has worked in Chilean television and film, appeared in the international series Narcos, trained at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Juilliard, and taken on her first leading feature-film role in Miss Carbón.
Who is Lux Pascal?
Lux Pascal is an actress who has worked across Spanish- and English-language entertainment. She was born in Orange County, California, on June 4, 1992, according to widely published biographical listings. Because those details are not consistently documented in a primary source, they are best treated as reported biographical information.
She comes from a Chilean-American family. Her parents left Chile during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, spending time seeking asylum in Denmark before the family settled in the United States. Her older siblings include Pedro Pascal and Javiera Balmaceda, a producer and film executive.

That background helps explain why Lux’s work has moved between Chilean productions and the international entertainment industry. It also makes her career difficult to summarize accurately with a single label. She is not simply “Pedro Pascal’s transgender sister”; she is an actor with her own education, credits, artistic interests, and public voice.
Lux Pascal’s education and acting training
Before completing her U.S. conservatory training, Lux earned a bachelor’s degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She later attended the Juilliard School in New York and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2023.
The Juilliard degree is an important part of her professional development. It places her Chilean screen work within a broader acting path that includes formal training at one of the United States’ best-known performing-arts institutions. It also helps explain why later coverage has emphasized her as a serious performer rather than only as a celebrity relative.
That training should not be confused with a claim that Juilliard has published a comprehensive official biography of her. The education details have been reported by reputable entertainment outlets, while individual institutional records and biographies can change.
Her early television and film work in Chile
Lux began building her screen career in Chilean television. Reported early credits include Los 80, Juana Brava, and Veinteañero a los 40.
Her first feature-film appearance is generally identified as the 2016 Chilean comedy Prueba de actitud. She later appeared in projects including La Jauría, El príncipe, Ella es Cristina, and La California. Some databases vary in their spelling of titles, release years, and role names, so readers looking for a definitive filmography should check the relevant production company or distributor for each individual credit.
These Chilean projects matter because they show that Lux’s acting career was already developing before she became widely known to English-language audiences through her family connection or international television.

Lux Pascal in Narcos
Lux appeared in the third season of Netflix’s Narcos, playing Elias in two episodes. Her role was a smaller appearance rather than a starring part, while Pedro Pascal played DEA agent Javier Peña.

The series is notable for placing the siblings in the same international production, but it is misleading to describe them as co-stars or as participants in a shared leading storyline. Pedro had a major role in the series; Lux had a limited appearance as Elias.
Some older entertainment databases list the Narcos credit under a former name. Current writing should use Lux Pascal and she/her pronouns. Historical database billing can be acknowledged when it is necessary to explain why older search results look different, but it should not replace her current name in the article’s narrative.
Readers who want to revisit the series can compare current editions of the Narcos DVD or Blu-ray. Physical-media editions differ by region and may not contain identical packaging or extras, so verify the season or complete-series edition before purchasing.
When Lux Pascal came out as a transgender woman
Lux publicly identified as a transgender woman in February 2021, in an interview with the Chilean magazine Ya. Earlier reporting described her as having previously identified as gay and nonbinary. She has also spoken publicly about beginning hormone therapy in July 2020.
Those medical details were disclosed in earlier coverage, but they are not the central fact of her biography. The more useful context is that Lux has discussed the importance of living openly and not hiding who she is. She has described her transition as accepted within her family and has spoken about the support she received from those close to her.
Pedro Pascal responded publicly after Lux came out, referring to her as his sister and expressing love and solidarity. He has also discussed being protective of her, while Lux has described him as kind and supportive. Their relationship is clearly an important part of the public story, but Pedro’s support should not be treated as the source or manager of Lux’s career.
Lux’s public visibility also matters beyond her family. As a working trans actress from a Chilean-American background, she has challenged the tendency of entertainment coverage to reduce trans women to a single disclosure story. Her acting work, training, and creative choices deserve attention alongside her advocacy and identity.

Lux plays Carlita Antonella Rodríguez, a transgender woman who confronts gender barriers in a coal-mining community. The role connects a personal story of identity with wider questions about social expectations, work, class, and the restrictions placed on women and trans people in traditionally masculine environments.
Recent coverage describes Miss Carbón as Lux’s first leading feature-film role. That makes it a turning point: instead of appearing primarily in supporting or ensemble parts, she carries a central dramatic performance connected to Latin American history and trans representation.
Netflix lists Miss Carbón among its titles, but streaming rights and release windows vary by country. The listing does not guarantee that the film is available in every region or at the same time. For current availability, readers should check where to watch Miss Carbón in their territory before subscribing or renting.
Where can you watch Miss Carbón?
Netflix has listed the film, but availability is territory-specific and can change. Search the title within the streaming services available in your country, and confirm whether the listing offers subscription streaming, rental, or purchase access. Do not assume that a U.S. listing—or a listing seen in another country—applies to your location.

Lux and Pedro are siblings from a family shaped by Chilean migration and life in the United States. Their public relationship became a recurring media subject after Lux came out in 2021 and Pedro shared his support.
They have also appeared together publicly, including at entertainment events. A 2025 Elle interview conducted by Pedro focused on Lux’s work on Miss Carbón, her Juilliard education, and the way they relate to one another. Such interviews offer evidence of warmth and mutual respect, but they should not be used to make unsupported claims about the siblings’ private family life.

Their professional histories overlap in Narcos, yet the overlap should be kept in proportion. Lux’s career was not created by Pedro, and a public appearance with him does not necessarily represent a professional collaboration.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Fashion appearances and growing public visibility
Acting is not the only area in which Lux has become more visible. She has attended major entertainment and fashion events with Pedro, and reporting in 2025 covered her appearance on a Paris Fashion Week runway.
Fashion coverage has expanded her public profile beyond film and television. It does not, by itself, establish that she has signed a formal modeling contract or entered into a long-term modeling career. The most accurate description is that fashion and red-carpet appearances have become another part of her public presence.
What is next for Lux Pascal?
Miss Carbón gives Lux a substantial opportunity to reach audiences as a leading actor rather than primarily as a supporting performer or a famous sibling. Her Chilean screen background, English-language training, and experience in international productions give her a foundation for work across Latin American and U.S. entertainment.
It is too early to make reliable claims about unannounced projects, future casting, awards, representation contracts, or a confirmed modeling career. The strongest conclusion supported by her documented work is more straightforward: Lux Pascal has established an independent artistic path, and Miss Carbón marks an important step in its expansion.
Lux Pascal’s career in perspective
Lux Pascal’s public story includes several connected strands: Chilean family roots, early acting work in Chile, advanced training at Juilliard, a brief appearance in Narcos, her public life as a transgender woman, advocacy through visibility and her own statements, and a leading role in Miss Carbón.
