The movie is A Working Man, not The Beekeeper 2. Jason Statham’s latest action film is currently listed on Prime Video in the U.S., but it follows a different character, story and franchise. Statham plays Levon Cade, a former black-ops operative who takes a construction job after leaving his old life behind—until his boss’s daughter is kidnapped by human traffickers.
The confusion is understandable: A Working Man reunites Statham with director David Ayer, who also directed The Beekeeper. But this is a separate missing-person and revenge thriller, not a continuation of Adam Clay’s beekeeper mythology.
Where to watch A Working Man
In the United States, A Working Man is currently listed on Prime Video as a 2025 action/suspense movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 51 minutes. Availability and access options can change by country, so viewers outside the U.S. should check their local Prime Video catalog.
Amazon’s U.S. listing presents several ways to watch. Depending on the account and subscription, the film may be available through a Prime Video subscription, Prime Video with Ads, MGM+ or the MGM+ Amazon Channel. The listing also shows digital rental and purchase options, including a UHD rental price of $3.99 and a UHD purchase price of $19.99 at the time of the research check. A 30-day Prime trial prompt is also displayed for eligible users.

What is A Working Man about?
Statham plays Levon Cade, a decorated former black-ops operative who has abandoned his military career for a quieter life in construction. He is trying to live as an ordinary working man, but that plan ends when the daughter of his employer—and someone close to him—is abducted.

Cade returns to the skills he has tried to leave behind. His search begins as a rescue mission, but it gradually uncovers a wider criminal and human-trafficking network. The basic setup is familiar Statham territory: a capable man with a violent past is forced back into action when someone vulnerable needs his help.

The film is based on Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon, the book identified on Amazon’s listing as the source material that inspired the movie. Readers who want to compare the adaptation with its source can look for Levon’s Trade after watching the film.
Why people are comparing it with The Beekeeper
The connection is mainly the combination of Jason Statham and David Ayer. The Beekeeper was also a Statham-led Ayer action film, so a new collaboration between the two naturally invites comparisons.
There is also a broad similarity in the protagonists. Both films feature a man with an exceptional combat background who appears to have retired from violence, only to resume his old methods when an injustice demands action. Both are built around Statham’s physical presence, terse dialogue and direct approach to problem-solving.

Beyond that setup, however, the movies are substantially different.
| A Working Man | The Beekeeper | |
|---|---|---|
| Statham’s character | Levon Cade | Adam Clay |
| Basic premise | A former operative searches for a kidnapped young woman. | A retired operative begins a revenge campaign after a phishing scam devastates the woman who sheltered him. |
| World | Construction work, organized crime and human trafficking. | A secretive organization, bee symbolism and a conspiracy extending into political power. |
| Type of story | A grounded missing-person and rescue action thriller. | A more exaggerated, high-concept revenge fantasy. |
The Beekeeper is built around the identity and mythology of Adam Clay’s clandestine organization. Its bee imagery is not just a title gimmick; it shapes the movie’s world and conspiracy. A Working Man does not continue that mythology. Levon Cade is not Adam Clay under another name, and there is no evidence that this film is set in the same fictional universe.

So, is this The Beekeeper 2?
No. A Working Man is not a sequel to The Beekeeper and does not continue Adam Clay’s story.
The Beekeeper 2 is a separate project. Amazon MGM’s current slate identifies it as a future film scheduled for January 15, 2027, with Statham returning as Adam Clay. The new Prime Video listing and the upcoming sequel should therefore be treated as two different Statham projects:
- A Working Man: a 2025 film about Levon Cade, a former operative working in construction who searches for a kidnapped woman.
- The Beekeeper 2: the planned continuation of Adam Clay’s story, scheduled for January 15, 2027 according to the cited Amazon MGM slate.
The shared star and director explain the headline comparison, but they do not make A Working Man a franchise sequel.
Is A Working Man worth watching?
That depends on what you want from a Jason Statham movie. If you are looking for a straightforward rescue thriller with hand-to-hand fights, shootouts, one-liners and a protagonist who solves problems through force, A Working Man is a clear fit. Its appeal is the familiar “retired professional goes back to work” formula rather than an elaborate new mythology.

If what you enjoyed most about The Beekeeper was its strange premise, secret-service mythology and increasingly outsized revenge story, A Working Man may feel like a different kind of vehicle. It is more conventionally structured around a kidnapping investigation and criminal network.
One source’s assessment describes the film as one of Statham’s weaker entries while still acknowledging that viewers seeking bone-crunching action may enjoy it. That is a critical opinion, not an objective verdict. The available audience indicators were more favorable on Amazon than on some third-party platforms: Amazon displayed a 4.6/5 customer rating, while IMDb showed 5.7/10 and JustWatch listed a 46% Rotten Tomatoes score alongside the same 5.7 IMDb rating during the research period. Those numbers are user- and platform-dependent and can change over time.
What to watch or read next
If you want to own the new movie
The A Working Man Blu-ray is the most obvious physical-media follow-up to a Prime Video rental or stream. Amazon’s listing includes both Blu-ray and DVD purchasing options, with the Blu-ray offering a way to keep the film without relying on its future streaming availability.
If you want the source material
Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon is the natural reading companion. It is the book Amazon identifies as the inspiration for A Working Man, so it is more relevant than generic action novels or unrelated construction and crime titles.

If you want the other Statham-Ayer collaboration
For a direct comparison, look for The Beekeeper on Blu-ray or The Beekeeper 4K UHD. It is a separate film, but watching both makes the contrast clear: the same star and director operate in a familiar action mode while telling different stories with different protagonists.
