Short answer: the youngest character in this guide is 14-year-old Muichiro Tokito, while the oldest listed Hashira is 27-year-old Gyomei Himejima. Tanjiro is 13 when Demon Slayer begins and 15 after training; Nezuko is 12 at the start and 14 after Final Selection. Several characters also have more than one published height, so a single “official” number can be misleading.

This canon-focused guide covers the principal Demon Slayer Corps cast, all eight Hashira, and the birthdays most commonly sought by fans. “All characters” is a reader-friendly scope rather than a claim that every unnamed demon or background character has a published profile.

This is a canon-focused reference for the principal Demon Slayer Corps characters, all eight Hashira, and the birthdays most commonly sought by fans. “All characters” is used as a reader-friendly title, not a claim that every unnamed demon, crow, or background character has a published age, height, and birthday.

Spoiler note: The tables reveal basic character information and story-stage changes from the anime and manga. They avoid major ending spoilers, but readers who have only watched the earliest episodes may encounter information from later training and character profiles.

Main Demon Slayer characters: age, height, and birthday

The ages below are tied to the relevant story point. Unless a transition is stated, the listed age is the profile age used for that character. Heights are given in centimeters, as in the cited character profiles.

Character Age Height Birthday Important context
Tanjiro Kamado 13 at the beginning; 15 after training 156 cm at the beginning; 165 cm after training July 14 His age and height both change during the early story.
Nezuko Kamado 12 at the beginning; 14 after Final Selection 150 cm at the beginning; 153 cm after Final Selection December 28 As a demon, her chronological age should not be treated exactly like a human character’s age.
Zenitsu Agatsuma 16 164.5 cm September 3 The cited profile gives one principal age and height.
Inosuke Hashibira 15 164 cm April 22 His birthday is presented as having been written on his fundoshi.
Kanao Tsuyuri 16 152 cm at Final Selection; 156 cm around Volume 9 May 19 Her birth date was unknown; this birthday marks the day she met Kanae and Shinobu.
Genya Shinazugawa 16 160 cm at Final Selection; 180 cm later January 7 The later published height reflects a substantial story-stage change.

These figures come from ORICON’s consolidated main-character profiles, which attribute their character information to the official Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba materials [c002]. The official anime character pages establish the central premise: Nezuko is transformed into a demon but protects humans, while Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps in the hope of restoring her humanity [c001].

Why Tanjiro and Nezuko have two ages

Tanjiro is 13 when the story’s opening events begin. After the period of training and the time leading to Final Selection, he is 15. Nezuko is 12 at the beginning and is listed as 14 after Final Selection. These are not contradictory profile entries; they describe different points in the narrative.

Nezuko also illustrates why a demon’s “age” requires a qualification. Her human age, her apparent age, and the amount of time that has passed since her transformation are different concepts. A human-style age in a character table is useful for orientation, but it should not be mistaken for a complete biological or chronological description.

The Hashira: ages, heights, and birthdays

The Hashira are the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen. The eight profiles below are the Hashira entries covered by the cited ORICON reference [c003].

Hashira Age Height Birthday
Giyu Tomioka, Water Hashira 19 at first appearance; 21 upon reappearance 176 cm February 8
Muichiro Tokito, Mist Hashira 14 160 cm August 8
Shinobu Kocho, Insect Hashira 18 151 cm February 24
Mitsuri Kanroji, Love Hashira 19 167 cm June 1
Obanai Iguro, Serpent Hashira 21 162 cm September 15
Sanemi Shinazugawa, Wind Hashira 21 179 cm November 29
Gyomei Himejima, Stone Hashira 27 220 cm August 23
Kyojuro Rengoku, Flame Hashira 20 177 cm May 10

Muichiro is the youngest listed Hashira at 14. Gyomei is the oldest at 27 and, at 220 cm, is also by far the tallest in this group. Giyu is the other Hashira in this table whose age changes explicitly with his story appearances: he is 19 initially and 21 when he reappears later [c003].

Birthday index

For a quick lookup, here are the birthdays in calendar order. The dates are month-and-day entries; no birth years are added because the cited sources do not establish them.

What about Muzan and the other demons?

Demon ages cannot always be placed in the same kind of table as human Corps members. For a demon such as Muzan Kibutsuji, a useful reference would need to distinguish at least three ideas:

  • Apparent age: how old the character appears in a particular form or disguise.
  • Human age at transformation: how old the person was before becoming a demon, where that information is known.
  • Chronological time lived: how many years have passed since birth or transformation.

Those categories are not interchangeable. A demon may look like a child or adult while having lived for far longer than a human lifetime. The available authoritative profile material used for this guide does not provide a complete, consistent age-height-birthday record for every named demon. It would therefore be misleading to fill in missing heights, birthdays, or exact ages with fan estimates.

The same caution applies to minor characters. “All characters” cannot honestly mean that every unnamed demon, Kasugai crow, villager, or background figure has a canon profile containing all three statistics. Where a reliable profile does not publish a number, the accurate answer is that the information is not established in the sources used here.

How to read Demon Slayer character ages correctly

1. Identify the story stage

Ask whether the number refers to the opening, Final Selection, a post-training appearance, or a later reappearance. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Giyu, and several height entries demonstrate why the stage matters.

2. Do not turn the dates into modern ages

These are fictional characters in a historical Taisho-era setting. Their ages are story attributes, not ages to be recalculated from the current year. In particular, do not subtract a character’s fictional birth year from 2026.

3. Treat birthdays as month and day

The published birthday information supports dates such as July 14 and February 24. It does not, by itself, establish a birth year. Fan calculations based on the Taisho setting should be labeled speculation rather than presented as canon.

4. Preserve changing heights

Collapsing Tanjiro’s 156 cm and 165 cm measurements into one number loses useful information. The same is true for Nezuko, Kanao, and Genya. A profile can legitimately contain more than one height when the character grows or when the source records different story points.

For readers who want the complete canon

This guide summarizes character-profile data, but it is not a replacement for the story itself. VIZ describes the Demon Slayer complete box set as a physical paperback collection containing all 23 manga volumes, an exclusive booklet, and a double-sided poster; its product information lists Amazon among the purchasing channels [c004]. The collection is useful for readers who want to check the full canon timeline and character appearances, rather than relying on an isolated statistics page.

Sources and scope

The official anime character material is the best source for the franchise’s roster, roles, and basic premise [c001]. The numerical ages, heights, and birthdays in the tables are taken from the consolidated ORICON profiles for the main cast [c002] and Hashira [c003]. VIZ’s product information supports the physical box-set description [c004].

Official art books, coloring books, and licensed merchandise exist as additional products, but they should not be described as authoritative age-and-height manuals. The existence of a Japanese official fanbook does not establish that a current English-language edition is available in the United States; that publication question requires separate verification.

How old is Nezuko in Demon Slayer?

Who is the youngest and oldest Hashira?

Muichiro Tokito is the youngest listed Hashira at 14. Gyomei Himejima is the oldest listed Hashira at 27.

Do Demon Slayer characters have confirmed birth years?

The published profile data used here gives birthdays as month-and-day dates only. It does not establish canon birth years for these characters.

Does every Demon Slayer character have an official age, height, and birthday?

No. The available authoritative profile material does not provide a complete age, height, and birthday record for every named demon or background character, so missing figures should not be replaced with fan estimates.

The Bottom Line

The most reliable way to use a Demon Slayer character reference is to keep the story stage attached to every changing number. Tanjiro is 13 at the start and 15 after training, Nezuko is 12 and later 14, Giyu changes from 19 to 21, and several characters grow between recorded height measurements. Birthdays are month-and-day canon details, while demon longevity and missing minor-character statistics should not be replaced with estimates.
