This is the most literal set in the puzzle. People may dream, drool, snore, or talk while asleep. Once these four are removed, the remaining words offer fewer competing interpretations.
Blue: Movie series with 2024 releases — ALIEN, GLADIATOR, VENOM, WICKED
These are recognizable title words pointing to film series or releases from 2024:
- ALIEN — Alien: Romulus
- GLADIATOR — Gladiator II
- VENOM — Venom: The Last Dance
- WICKED — Wicked
The puzzle uses the familiar franchise or title words rather than the films’ complete titles. That is why this category can be difficult: the entries do not form a grammatical phrase in the grid, and WICKED can initially look like a general adjective rather than a movie reference.
Purple: ____ HOUSE — FULL, GINGERBREAD, HAUNTED, WHITE
Each word can precede HOUSE to make a familiar phrase or title:
- Full House
- Gingerbread house
- Haunted house
- White House
FULL is the likely trap here. It may suggest the sitcom Full House, a full house in poker, or simply the idea of being completely occupied. The shared construction is the important connection, not one particular meaning of “house.”

The puzzle’s main traps
Two words are especially useful for understanding the puzzle’s design:
- POSSESSED can pull you toward HAUNTED, since both words are associated with supernatural stories. In the completed grid, however, POSSESSED belongs with BORE, HAD, and HELD under OWNED.
- FULL may appear to be a reference to the television show or to poker. Its intended role is the word that completes “____ House,” alongside GINGERBREAD, HAUNTED, and WHITE.
A practical solving route is to identify the sleep behaviors first: DREAM, DROOL, SNORE, TALK. With those removed, the ownership-related past-tense words are easier to isolate. The final eight entries then divide between the 2024 movie group and the HOUSE phrase group. This is a deduction from the confirmed grid and categories, not a report of a personal solve time or difficulty rating.
