This spoiler-filled guide explains the characters, powers, mythology, finale, soundtrack, reception, and Season 2 setup.
Supacell is a grounded South London superhero drama about five ordinary Black Londoners whose lives are disrupted when they develop extraordinary abilities. Created, written, and directed by Rapman—Andrew Onwubolu—the six-episode first season is less interested in costumes and spectacle than in what power means when its owners still have jobs, children, debts, criminal records, family obligations, grief, and dangerous people around them.
The season premiered on June 27, 2024, and is distributed by Netflix. In the United States, the six episodes are currently listed on Netflix, including the Standard with Ads plan; availability and plans can differ by country and may change.
Spoiler warning: The following guide discusses the origin of the powers, the agency and its hunters, Krazy’s ability, and the ending of Season 1—including Dionne’s death.

What is Supacell about?
Michael Lasaki is a South London delivery driver whose relationship with Dionne is approaching marriage. After an unexplained incident sends him into a possible future, Michael learns that Dionne is destined to die. His only apparent chance of changing that future is to find four other people who, like him, have developed powers.
Those people are Sabrina, a woman dealing with betrayal and family responsibilities; Andre, a father struggling with work and the consequences of a criminal record; Rodney, a fast-moving young man drawn toward quick money; and Tazer, the leader of the Tower Boys gang. They do not begin as a team, and most have little reason to trust one another. Their powers arrive in the middle of already complicated lives rather than after a neat comic-book origin story.
That setup gives Supacell its central distinction. The characters are not transformed into polished heroes who immediately understand their mission. They remain recognizably ordinary people, and their new abilities often intensify existing problems instead of solving them.
The five central characters and their powers
| Character | Played by | Ability | What the power means in the story |
|---|---|---|---|
| Michael Lasaki | Tosin Cole | Travel through time and space | Michael’s ability turns the season into a race against an apparently fixed future, but it also leaves him struggling to understand what can—and cannot—be changed. |
| Sabrina Clarke | Nadine Mills | Telekinesis | Her power emerges alongside relationship betrayal and concern for her sister Sharleen, making control an emotional as well as physical issue. |
| Andre | Eric Kofi-Abrefa | Super strength | Strength does not remove the pressures of fatherhood, unemployment, or a criminal record. His storyline asks whether power can actually create security. |
| Rodney | Calvin Demba | Super speed and healing | Rodney sees a possible route to money and a better relationship with his family, but his choices show how quickly an ability can become another form of risk. |
| Tazer | Josh Tedeku | Invisibility | His power fits a life shaped by concealment, loyalty, abandonment, and gang survival, while his family history connects him to the wider mystery. |
Michael is the narrative anchor, but the season is deliberately structured as an ensemble story. Each character receives space to reveal the social problem already surrounding them before the larger superhero plot fully takes over.

Episode guide
The first season consists of six episodes titled “Michael,” “Tazer,” “Sabrina,” “Andre,” “Rodney,” and “Supacell.”
Episode 1: “Michael”
The opening episode establishes Michael’s ordinary routine, his relationship with Dionne, and the first signs that time and reality are behaving differently around him. His uncontrolled movement into a possible future gives him a warning about Dionne’s death and establishes the season’s main question: can extraordinary power overcome a personal tragedy that appears predetermined?
Episode 2: “Tazer”
The story widens through Tazer, whose invisibility is inseparable from gang life and personal survival. The episode also begins connecting the emerging powers to family history and to the danger surrounding the Tower Boys.
Episode 3: “Sabrina”
Sabrina’s telekinesis is introduced through the pressures of betrayal and family responsibility. Her episode reinforces the show’s pattern: the ability is not a fantasy solution to her problems. It is another force she has to learn to control while protecting the people close to her.

Episode 4: “Andre”
Andre’s super strength is placed against fatherhood, employment difficulties, and the practical consequences of his criminal record. His story is one of the clearest examples of Supacell treating power as an unstable resource rather than a guaranteed escape from poverty.
Episode 5: “Rodney”
Rodney’s speed and healing abilities bring money into the equation. His desire to improve his circumstances and reconnect with his family makes the episode a study of the temptation to monetize power before understanding its consequences.
Episode 6: “Supacell”
The finale brings the five protagonists into direct conflict with the mysterious agency, its hooded hunters, and Krazy. The group does not receive a clean superhero victory. The threat remains only partly explained, Andre is left in a compromised position, and Michael’s attempt to save Dionne ends in failure.
What is the origin of the powers?
Season 1 eventually explains the powers through a fictional mutation associated with sickle cell disorder. Within the show’s science-fiction mythology, this inherited condition is connected to the emergence of the abilities known as “supacell.”
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →This is an invented premise, not a medical explanation of real sickle cell disease. Actual sickle cell disease does not produce superpowers. The distinction matters because Rapman has described the origin as an attempt to begin with a recognizable inherited condition and to make people living with sickle cell feel seen or empowered. The series uses that idea symbolically and dramatically; it should not be treated as medical education.
Who are the hooded hunters?
The hooded figures initially appear to be an alien, supernatural, or otherwise non-human threat. The reveal is more grounded: they are powered people hired by the agency to hunt other powered people.
That twist clarifies one of the show’s most important ideas. Having an extraordinary ability does not free someone from economic pressure. The hunters have effectively turned their powers into precarious paid work, and the agency has weaponized their need for money. They are not simply monsters from outside the community; they are ordinary people being used by a larger organization.
Who is Krazy, and what can he do?
Krazy, played by Kadeem Ramsay, is a gang leader rather than one of the original five. The finale reveals that he can mimic the powers of people he physically touches. That makes him especially dangerous: he does not have to rely on one fixed ability and can turn the protagonists’ strengths against them.

His role also complicates the division between superhero and gang story. The season’s powered people are not automatically good, organized, or morally reliable. Power magnifies existing loyalties and ambitions, and Krazy represents the danger of someone using the phenomenon entirely through domination and exploitation.
Why does Michael fail to save Dionne?
Michael’s time-and-space ability lets him see a future in which Dionne dies and gives him enough information to assemble the other four protagonists. However, the ability does not give him unlimited control over causality. Even after he brings the group together, he cannot prevent Dionne from being killed by a conventional gunshot.
The ending is therefore not a standard origin-story triumph. Michael succeeds at finding the people he was told to find, but he fails at the personal goal that motivated the journey. Dionne’s death shifts the story from rescue to grief and revenge. Michael ends the season committed to striking back at the organization that manipulated the group, while the larger mythology remains unresolved.
What does the ending set up for Season 2?
Netflix announced on August 13, 2024, that Supacell would return for a second season. The announcement positions the first season as an origin-style chapter and identifies Michael’s revenge against the organization as the next major direction.

Why Supacell stands out
A superhero story rooted in South London
The series relocates a familiar genre to contemporary South London, using real locations including Thamesmead. The housing estate is not just visual scenery. The environment connects the speculative story to housing, policing, gang conflict, class, work, and community life.
Rapman’s earlier work, including Blue Story and Shiro’s Story, helps explain the show’s street-level atmosphere. But Supacell is not simply a gang drama with powers added to it. It uses that setting to ask who gets to occupy the center of a superhero narrative and what the genre looks like when its characters are Black British people with culturally specific lives.
People before powers
Michael is still a delivery driver. Andre is still a father facing the consequences of his past. Rodney still wants money and family approval. Tazer remains responsible for his gang and loyal to the grandmother who raised him. Sabrina is still dealing with betrayal and family conflict. Their abilities alter the stakes, but they do not erase the conditions that shaped them.

Power as labor
The season repeatedly asks what someone might do with a power when money is tight. Speed can become a way to earn. Strength can seem like protection. Invisibility can be useful for survival. The agency’s hunters take this idea to its bleakest conclusion: extraordinary abilities can become another kind of labor sold to people with more money and institutional power.
Love, grief, and the limits of control
Although Michael’s ability creates a time-travel plot, the season is not primarily a puzzle about timelines. Its emotional center is Michael’s attempt to bargain with grief before the loss occurs. The finale argues that seeing a tragedy coming is not the same as having the power to stop it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Reception
At the time of the research snapshot, Rotten Tomatoes listed Season 1 at 100% from 20 critics and 69% from more than 500 audience ratings. Those figures can change as more reviews and ratings are added, so they are best understood as a snapshot rather than a permanent verdict.
The broad critical response highlighted the show’s fresh South London setting, Black British perspective, social commentary, and grounded approach to superhero storytelling. The main reservations are that the superhero framework itself is familiar and that Season 1 leaves substantial mythology unresolved—partly because it is designed to lead into a continuation.

An official digital album, Supacell soundtrack from the Netflix series, was released on June 28, 2024. Spotify lists 18 tracks, with credits including Rapman, Sillkey, E.Ghetts, Calvin Demba, Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, Bellah, Digga D, and other contributors. The release is credited to Netflix Music, LLC.
The music is a natural extension of the series’ identity, particularly because the show treats South London culture as part of its dramatic world rather than as an interchangeable backdrop. The researched material verifies a digital album, not a physical Amazon CD or vinyl edition.

Is Supacell worth watching?
Yes—especially for viewers who want superhero fiction with a strong sense of place and characters whose lives do not become effortless after they gain powers. The series offers familiar abilities, but its better idea is that power cannot automatically defeat poverty, grief, institutional exploitation, family conflict, or ordinary gun violence.
Season 1 is not completely self-contained. It leaves questions about the agency, the wider population of powered people, Andre’s position, and the limits of Michael’s ability unresolved. That unfinished mythology may frustrate viewers looking for a fully closed story, but it also gives the announced second season a clear dramatic purpose.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many episodes are in Supacell Season 1?
Supacell Season 1 has six episodes: “Michael,” “Tazer,” “Sabrina,” “Andre,” “Rodney,” and “Supacell.”
What causes the powers in Supacell?
The powers are explained through a fictional mutation associated with sickle cell disorder. This is science-fiction mythology and is not a medical claim: real sickle cell disease does not cause superpowers.
What happens to Dionne at the end of Supacell?
Michael brings the five powered protagonists together, but he cannot prevent Dionne from being killed by a gunshot. The failure drives his decision to seek revenge against the organization manipulating them.
Will there be a Supacell Season 2?
Yes. Netflix announced Season 2 on August 13, 2024. The announcement did not establish a release date, so viewers should not rely on an unconfirmed premiere date.
Is there a physical Supacell soundtrack?
The official soundtrack was released digitally on June 28, 2024. Research verified an 18-track digital album but did not establish an official physical CD or vinyl edition.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Supacell Season 1 is a six-episode, South London-set superhero drama that makes its powers matter by placing them inside ordinary pressures—work, money, family, crime, love, and grief. Its ending is deliberately incomplete: Michael gathers the team but cannot save Dionne, setting up a revenge-driven Season 2 rather than a neat victory.
