Grant Ellis is a Newark, New Jersey native, former professional basketball player, day trader, and the lead of The Bachelor Season 29. Before becoming the Bachelor, Ellis appeared on Jenn Tran’s Season 21 of The Bachelorette. He ultimately proposed to Juliana Pasquarosa in the Season 29 finale, but they announced on June 13, 2025, that they had ended their relationship.
Who is Grant Ellis?
Ellis became known to television audiences as a Bachelor Nation contestant and later as the star of ABC’s 29th season of The Bachelor. His public biography combines three major parts of his life: his Newark upbringing, a basketball career that took him overseas, and his work as a day trader.
ABC’s official biography describes Ellis as family-oriented and interested in the Los Angeles Lakers, bowling, karaoke, loyalty, humor, and life’s simple pleasures. Those qualities also shaped the way the show presented his search for a long-term partner.

Where is Grant Ellis from?
Grant Ellis is from Newark, New Jersey. He attended Albertus Magnus College and graduated with the class of 2017. The college identifies him as an alumnus and former student-athlete.
Although his date of birth is publicly listed as December 15 in ABC’s biography, the biography does not provide a birth year. For that reason, an exact age should not be stated without a separately verified source.
Grant Ellis’s basketball career
Before reality television, Ellis pursued basketball at both the college and professional levels. ESPN reported that he played professionally in the Dominican Republic for about four and a half years.
During his fourth year overseas, Ellis injured his shooting arm and needed surgery. The injury became a turning point. It led him to think more seriously about the uncertainty of a professional basketball career and to consider a future outside the sport.

That experience is important context for understanding Ellis’s career transition. He was not presented simply as a former college athlete who moved directly into television; he spent several years trying to make professional basketball work before changing direction.
What does Grant Ellis do for a living?
Ellis is described by ABC as a day trader. Public reporting establishes that occupation, but it does not verify a specific employer, trading firm, income, net worth, or independently audited trading record.
Consequently, claims about Grant Ellis’s wealth or trading success should be treated cautiously. Being identified as a day trader does not, by itself, establish how much he earns or whether he trades independently, through a firm, or as part of another arrangement.
How did Grant Ellis become the Bachelor?
Ellis first appeared on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette. ABC’s Season 29 materials described his departure from Tran’s season as emotional and emphasized his interest in building a future centered on family.
ABC later announced Ellis as the lead of The Bachelor Season 29. His season premiered on January 27, 2025, and introduced 25 women competing for a relationship with him. During the original broadcast run, ABC identified next-day availability on Hulu.
His move from contestant to lead followed the familiar Bachelor Nation path, but Ellis’s story was framed around more than his television experience. The show highlighted his basketball background, his pivot into finance, and his stated desire for a serious relationship.
What happened on The Bachelor Season 29?
The season ended with Ellis choosing Juliana Pasquarosa over Litia Garr. In the March 2025 finale, Ellis proposed to Pasquarosa.
The final decision was not portrayed as effortless. Ellis sought guidance from both of his parents while weighing the two relationships. The family involvement fit the broader image ABC had established of Ellis as someone looking for loyalty, humor, and a partner who valued family and everyday life.
The proposal made Pasquarosa Ellis’s publicly announced fiancée at the end of the season. That status did not continue indefinitely, however.
Are Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa still together?
No. Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa announced on June 13, 2025, that they had ended their relationship.
Ellis said that, after serious conversations, they concluded they were not the right long-term fit. Their statements described the relationship as meaningful and expressed mutual respect rather than hostility.

Because relationship news can change, the most precise description is date-specific: Ellis and Pasquarosa were engaged at the end of The Bachelor Season 29, and they publicly announced their breakup on June 13, 2025.
