Netflix’s biggest September 2024 arrivals were three very different releases: Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2 on September 12, the six-episode mystery The Perfect Couple on September 5, and Aaron Pierre’s grounded action thriller Rebel Ridge on September 6.
The month also brought documentaries and factual entertainment including Apollo 13: Survival, Untold: Hope Solo vs. U.S. Soccer, and Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas. The dates and catalog notes below describe the U.S.-oriented September 2024 schedule; Netflix availability varies by country and titles can leave at different times.
The three headline Netflix releases in September 2024
| Date | Release | Format | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| September 5 | The Perfect Couple | Six-episode limited series | Whodunit fans, beach-read mysteries and ensemble dramas |
| September 6 | Rebel Ridge | Feature film | Grounded action, corruption thrillers and conspiracy stories |
| September 12 | Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2 | Second half of a split season | Romance, fashion, travel and glossy European escapism |
These releases are worth separating from the broader monthly calendar. September did not begin with a new full season of Emily in Paris: Season 4, Part 1 arrived on August 15, 2024, while Part 2 completed the season on September 12.
Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2 — September 12
Emily in Paris Season 4 continues after the upheaval surrounding Camille and Gabriel’s attempted wedding. In the second part, Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, is still balancing professional uncertainty with a complicated romantic life, but the show’s geography expands beyond Paris.

The September episodes move the story toward Rome and introduce a distinctly Italian chapter, alongside the winter setting teased in Netflix’s official coverage. That change of location is the most important reason to treat Part 2 as more than a routine continuation: the series uses Italy to refresh its familiar mix of romance, workplace drama, recognizable landmarks and elaborate outfits.
Viewers primarily come to Emily in Paris for four things:
- Fashion: Emily’s highly stylized wardrobe remains a major part of the show’s appeal.
- Travel: The story broadens from Paris into Italy, giving the second half a new visual setting.
- Romance: Emily’s personal life remains unsettled after the events of the attempted wedding.
- Light escapism: It is the least demanding of September’s three headline releases and the clearest choice for a glossy, comfort-watch drama.
Netflix also published a Season 4 fashion guide and a filming-locations guide covering France and Italy. Those companion features make the show a natural pick for viewers who enjoy destination television as much as the plot.
Important release distinction: September 12 was the premiere date for Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2—not the premiere of Season 4 itself. Watching the September episodes without Part 1 will leave the season’s relationship and wedding-related developments out of context.
The Perfect Couple — September 5
The Perfect Couple is September’s strongest mystery recommendation. The six-episode limited series follows Amelia Sacks, played by Eve Hewson, as she prepares to marry into one of Nantucket’s wealthiest families. The wedding plans collapse when a body is found on the morning of the ceremony, turning the guests and members of the wedding party into potential suspects.

The ensemble includes Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning, Meghann Fahy, Billy Howle and Ishaan Khatter. The appeal is less about a lone investigator than about watching a privileged family’s carefully controlled image come apart under suspicion.
The series is based on Elin Hilderbrand’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. Netflix described it as the first screen adaptation of one of Hilderbrand’s novels, giving the show an especially useful companion angle for readers: the adaptation offers a visual version of the Nantucket setting, while the novel provides the original construction of the story and its characters.
Netflix reported that interest in Hilderbrand’s book rose sharply around the trailers and that the title returned to bestseller lists. It also reported that the audiobook reached No. 1 in Amazon’s suspense category and No. 5 overall after the series launched. Those were launch-period historical rankings, not current rankings, so they should not be read as a statement about the book’s position today.
Who should watch The Perfect Couple?
Choose it if you want a contained mystery with a wealthy-family setting, a wedding-party suspect list and a glossy coastal atmosphere. It is the best September choice for viewers who like character-driven murder mysteries and adaptations of popular fiction. Because the central mystery depends on discovering what happened, detailed plot or ending comparisons should wait until after viewing.
Rebel Ridge — September 6
Rebel Ridge is the action counterweight to the romance of Emily in Paris and the social mystery of The Perfect Couple. Directed by Jeremy Saulnier and led by Aaron Pierre, the film follows Terry Richmond, a former Marine who arrives in the fictional town of Shelby Springs to post bail for his cousin.

Local law enforcement unjustly seizes Terry’s money. What begins as an attempt to recover the cash develops into a confrontation with Police Chief Sandy Burnne and a wider conspiracy. AnnaSophia Robb plays Summer McBride, a court clerk who becomes an ally to Terry.
The film is best described as a grounded action thriller about small-town corruption. Its premise uses the pressure of the criminal-justice system and institutional power rather than presenting Terry as a conventional military operative. It is a fictional conspiracy-driven story, not a true story or a military procedural.
Netflix’s September 2024 performance report said Rebel Ridge remained No. 1 globally on the English-language film list during the week of September 9, with 38.6 million views. That is a dated weekly performance figure from the film’s launch period, not a current ranking or a measure of its permanent popularity. Netflix also highlighted Aaron Pierre as a breakout performer.
Who should watch Rebel Ridge?
Pick it if you want a serious, contemporary thriller built around corruption, unequal power and a protagonist trying to solve an immediate practical problem. It is a better fit for viewers seeking tension and social stakes than for anyone looking for military spectacle or a light action adventure.

The month also included a substantial group of licensed catalog films. Notable additions listed for the U.S. schedule included:
- Jaws
- Field of Dreams
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Stand by Me
- 300
- The Expendables trilogy
- Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
These are catalog additions rather than Netflix originals, and their presence should not be assumed in every country. Streaming rights are territory-specific, so subscribers outside the United States should search their local Netflix catalog rather than rely on a U.S. release list.

A September additions list is only half the catalog picture. Titles also left Netflix on different dates during the month. Reported departures included The Breakfast Club, the Back to the Future trilogy and several television series.
Because removal dates can differ by territory and licensing agreements can change, check the title’s listing in your own Netflix account if you are planning a late-month viewing marathon. A film appearing on an early September calendar does not guarantee that it will remain available through the end of the month—or in every country.
