Morton’s apparent prediction became news after the December 2025 vote, and the .org domain now hosts a politically oppositional parody project rather than an official Kennedy Center website.
A joke registered before the name change
Morton reportedly bought the two domains after Donald Trump’s influence over the Kennedy Center expanded and he concluded that a Trump-branded renaming was plausible. The purchases came before the public announcement of the board’s December 2025 vote.

That timing is the central joke. Morton did not take control of the Kennedy Center’s website or computer systems. He registered two available domain names that looked like obvious future addresses for a renamed institution, then used at least one of them as a satire vehicle.
The reported domains are:
News coverage identified Morton as the owner of both domains and described the project as political satire, not as an attempt to resell the names to the Kennedy Center. His reported reasoning was that once the institution became associated with personal branding and loyalty to a political leader, parody was difficult to avoid.

Who is Toby Morton?
Morton is a former South Park writer who also had occasional voice-acting work connected with the show. He should not be described as a co-creator of South Park or as a current staff member. The more accurate description is “former South Park writer.”
That background explains why the domain purchase attracted attention: it combines the show’s reputation for political satire with a real dispute over institutional identity, federal law, and presidential influence.
What TrumpKennedyCenter.org currently shows
As observed on August 12, 2026, TrumpKennedyCenter.org was live. Its homepage was headed “TrumpKennedyCenter.org,” described the project as “A National Institution Devoted To Power And Loyalty,” and marked it “COMING SOON.”
The page uses formal, ceremonial language to parody the tone of a national cultural institution. Its stated project involves publishing public information about Donald Trump’s documented presence in Epstein-related records and the surrounding political and financial network. It also solicits support through PayPal and Venmo.

Those statements describe the site operator’s announced editorial focus. They are not, by themselves, independent verification of any allegation. The site should therefore be described as a political parody or satire project—not as a news organization, government resource, or official Kennedy Center webpage.
The related TrumpKennedyCenter.com was reachable during the research check, but returned no substantive page content to the crawler. Its contents should not be assumed to duplicate the .org site without a fresh browser check.
It is not the Kennedy Center’s official website
The domain names create an obvious risk of confusion. The official Kennedy Center web address identified in reporting remains kennedy-center.org. Morton’s domains are separate registrations and do not demonstrate affiliation with the Kennedy Center, the federal government, or the institution’s board.
That distinction also makes “hijacked the Kennedy Center website” an inaccurate description. Morton appears to have anticipated a possible naming formula and registered matching domains; he did not seize the official site.

Why the renaming became legally controversial
The Kennedy Center was created by federal legislation as a memorial to John F. Kennedy. After the board voted in December 2025 to add Trump’s name, members of Congress objected that the institution’s statutory name could not simply be changed by the board alone.
The Congressional Record reflects arguments that congressional action would be required. Congress also saw the introduction of H.R. 6925, the Kennedy Center Protection Act, which proposed restoring the name “John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.” The bill demonstrates that the renaming was contested in Congress; it does not, by itself, establish what the final legal status became.
Reporting also described legal challenges to the board’s action, including litigation associated with Representative Joyce Beatty. Because court proceedings and institutional branding can change, the careful formulation is that Morton’s domains became news after the December 2025 board vote amid ongoing legal and congressional controversy. It would be premature to present the dispute as finally resolved without a current authoritative court disposition.
The similarly named parody site that is not Morton’s
There is another site that can easily be confused with Morton’s domains: trump-kennedycenter.org, which includes a hyphen after “Trump.” That domain is operated by an unrelated parody collective called “The Revolution Will Be Satirized.” Its disclaimer explicitly distinguishes the project from Toby Morton and from trumpkennedycenter.org.

The names are similar, but the sites should not be merged in coverage:

| trumpkennedycenter.org | Reportedly registered by Toby Morton | Live political parody site observed August 12, 2026 |

Why the domain joke works
Domain registration is unusually effective political satire because it turns branding into a kind of advance claim. Morton’s registrations did not determine what the Kennedy Center could legally be called. They did, however, reserve the most obvious internet identities associated with the proposed Trump branding before the board acted.
The joke has three layers:
- Prediction: Morton registered the names in August 2025, before the December board vote.
- Institutional parody: the .org homepage imitates the language and authority of a national cultural institution while attacking personality-driven politics.
- Legal contrast: a private domain can be registered quickly, while changing the name of a federally established memorial raises questions that may require Congress or the courts.
That contrast is why “troll” is a fair shorthand for the story, provided it is understood as a description of the satirical tactic rather than a claim that Morton controlled the institution.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What readers should—and should not—take from the story
- Supported: Morton reportedly registered both domains in August 2025.
- Supported: the registrations preceded the Kennedy Center board’s December 2025 vote to add Trump’s name.
- Supported: the .org domain was live and presented a political parody project when checked on August 12, 2026.
- Not supported: that Morton changed, redirected, or hacked the official Kennedy Center website.
- Not supported: that the .com domain contained the same material as the .org domain.
- Still unsettled in the supplied research: the final legal status of the renaming after the congressional objections and reported lawsuits.
In short, the domain purchase was a preemptive satirical move. The later board vote made Morton’s joke look prescient, but it did not make his websites official—and it did not settle the separate question of whether the board had legal authority to change the name of a federally created memorial.

Frequently Asked Questions
Did Toby Morton buy the official Kennedy Center website?
No. Reports identify Morton as the registrant of TrumpKennedyCenter.org and TrumpKennedyCenter.com, while the official Kennedy Center web address remains kennedy-center.org. The domain registrations did not give him control of the institution’s website.
When did Morton register the Trump Kennedy Center domains?
Reports say he registered the .org and .com domains in August 2025, before the Kennedy Center board voted in December 2025 to add Donald Trump’s name to the institution.
What is on TrumpKennedyCenter.org?
When checked on August 12, 2026, the .org site presented itself as a forthcoming political parody project titled “A National Institution Devoted To Power And Loyalty.” It described a planned focus on Trump-related Epstein records and political and financial networks and solicited support through PayPal and Venmo.
Is trump-kennedycenter.org the same site?
No. The hyphenated domain, trump-kennedycenter.org, is operated by a separate parody collective called The Revolution Will Be Satirized. It is not Morton’s domain.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Was the Kennedy Center renaming legally final?
The supplied research does not establish a final legal resolution. The December 2025 board vote prompted congressional objections, proposed legislation, and reported legal challenges. The status should be checked against current court and congressional records.
The Bottom Line
Morton’s domain purchase was a well-timed piece of political satire: he registered the obvious Trump-branded Kennedy Center addresses before the board’s controversial December 2025 naming vote, then used the .org address for parody. The domains are not the official Kennedy Center website, and the similarly named hyphenated site belongs to an unrelated parody group.
