Spoiler warning: This ranking discusses the final war, late-series Quirk development, and the characters’ post-graduation status.
Among the six girls in Class 1-A, Mina Ashido is the strongest all-around combatant, while Ochaco Uraraka and Momo Yaoyorozu have the highest battlefield-control and preparation-based ceilings. Tsuyu Asui is the most dependable field operator, Kyoka Jiro excels at reconnaissance and disruption, and Toru Hagakure is the class’s best stealth specialist—but the least formidable in a conventional stand-up fight.

This is an editorial ranking of combat and hero effectiveness, not a canonically official school ranking. It weighs direct offense, defense, mobility, control, versatility, reliability, and performance under pressure. The order uses the strongest versions shown in the completed main story and official post-graduation material, without speculating about unsupported future power levels.
If you want to compare the characters across the complete source story, the My Hero Academia manga box set listed by VIZ contains volumes 1–20, along with a poster and bonus booklet.

“Strength” can mean several different things in My Hero Academia. Raw destructive power would produce one list; intelligence, popularity, or narrative importance would produce others. This countdown instead asks a practical hero question: how effective is each character in a dangerous, unpredictable mission or fight?
#1 Best Overall
- MHA Fandom: Midoriya inherits the superpower of the world’s greatest hero, but greatness won’t come easy.
- Includes: The first 20 volumes of the bestselling My Hero Academia manga.
- Format: Softcover, 3840 pages.
That means a character can rank highly without having the biggest attack. Rescue ability, capture options, movement, information gathering, team support, and the ability to change the shape of a battlefield all matter. The official anime character directory identifies these six students as members of Class 1-A and provides their baseline Quirks and profiles: Ochaco, Tsuyu, Momo, Jiro, Mina, and Toru.
The list runs from sixth to first for a conventional combat countdown. A later section explains why the top three can change depending on whether the scenario is a surprise duel, a prepared operation, or a large-scale crisis.
6. Toru Hagakure — Invisibility
Best at: stealth, scouting, infiltration, surprise.

Toru is last in conventional combat strength, but that should not be mistaken for being useless. Her body is invisible, giving her an advantage that none of her classmates can reproduce: she can approach, observe, infiltrate, and position herself without being seen. That is extremely valuable for reconnaissance, sabotage, rescue work, and surprise attacks.
Her weakness is the gap between avoiding detection and ending a fight. Invisibility alone does not provide the same direct offensive, defensive, or battlefield-control options as the other five Quirks. The official profile also notes that she begins becoming intermittently visible during the final villain conflict, adding an important late-story complication to the way her ability operates: official Toru Hagakure profile.
Toru could outperform this ranking in a mission built around concealment. Against an opponent who cannot detect her, she may be a superb disruptor. But in a neutral arena with both sides aware that a fight is coming, she has the lowest demonstrated direct-combat ceiling among Class 1-A’s girls.
5. Kyoka Jiro — Earphone Jack
Best at: detection, intelligence gathering, sonic disruption, and team support.
Rank #2
Main limitation: more matchup- and environment-dependent than the Quirks ranked above her.
Kyoka’s Earphone Jack gives her a role that is strategically vital even when it is difficult to measure in a simple duel. Her earphone-jack earlobes can transmit amplified heartbeat sounds, produce sound-wave attacks, and detect distant sounds. The official character profile describes both her offensive sonic capabilities and her value in search and intelligence operations: official Kyoka Jiro profile.
In a team battle, Jiro can identify enemies, locate people who need rescuing, monitor movement through structures, and disrupt opponents with powerful sound. She can also use vibrations offensively against structures or groups rather than relying only on a single-target attack.
Her placement reflects consistency in a broad combat ranking, not a lack of power. Distance, cover, environmental conditions, and an opponent’s resistance can reduce the effectiveness of sound-based attacks. Jiro is therefore more valuable in a coordinated mission or information-gathering operation than in a neutral one-on-one contest. She is a specialist with an excellent specialist role, but fewer answers to every possible combat problem than Tsuyu, Momo, Ochaco, or Mina.
4. Tsuyu Asui — Frog
Best at: mobile capture, rescue, pursuit, reconnaissance, and difficult terrain.
Main limitation: a lower large-scale damage ceiling than the three characters above her.
Tsuyu is the most dependable pure field operator in this group. Frog gives her a broad package of practical abilities: high jumping power, wall adhesion, underwater mobility, an extendable tongue, and physical traits that support stealth and close-quarters capture. Those capabilities are summarized in the official profile: official Tsuyu Asui profile.
Recommended Free Tools
Her strength is reliability. Tsuyu can move vertically, cross gaps, operate in water, pursue targets, retrieve allies, and restrain opponents without depending on elaborate preparation or specialized equipment. She is useful in rescue work as well as combat, and she remains effective in environments where a conventional fighter may struggle.
Rank #3
- Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn't got an ounce of power in him
- What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called “Quirks”
- Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study
Tsuyu ranks above Jiro because her options are less dependent on a particular range or battlefield setup. She ranks below Mina, Ochaco, and Momo because Frog does not offer the same level of area denial, large-scale control, or mission-specific versatility. Her ceiling is lower, but her floor is exceptionally high: she is rarely the wrong person to have on a field team.
3. Momo Yaoyorozu — Creation
Best at: preparation, equipment production, tactical planning, rescue operations, and team support.
Main limitation: knowledge, time, available lipids, and planning requirements can restrict immediate use.
Momo has the broadest theoretical toolkit of the six. Creation allows her to produce anything non-living, making her the class’s premier source of weapons, restraints, protective equipment, communications tools, and mission-specific supplies. Her official profile establishes the Quirk’s extraordinary breadth: official Momo Yaoyorozu profile.
In a planned mission, Momo can solve several different categories of problem before the fight even begins. She can equip a team, create tools for rescue or containment, provide emergency options, and adapt her strategy as new information arrives. That makes her arguably the most useful member of the group in a coordinated operation.
She is third rather than first because theoretical versatility is not the same as immediate combat dominance. Creation works best when Momo has the necessary knowledge, enough time to produce what she needs, and the physical resources to continue. A surprise fight at close range may not give her enough opportunity to exploit her full arsenal. In a prepared scenario, however, she can reasonably move to number one.
Momo’s ranking is therefore highly scenario-sensitive: third in a general all-purpose list, potentially first in a preparation-heavy team mission.

2. Ochaco Uraraka — Zero Gravity
Best at: battlefield control, repositioning, rescue, and turning the environment into a weapon.
Rank #4
Main limitation: effective use generally begins with physical contact and can impose strain over prolonged periods.
Zero Gravity has one of the highest battlefield-control ceilings in Class 1-A. By touching a target or object, Ochaco can place it into a weightless state. The official profile confirms the core mechanic: official Ochaco Uraraka profile.
That ability can remove an opponent’s footing, neutralize falling debris, reposition allies, lift objects out of danger, and transform ordinary material into a major tactical threat. Ochaco does not need to overpower every opponent directly if she can change how that opponent interacts with the battlefield. Her effectiveness rises sharply in cluttered environments or disasters where there are many objects and people to move.
Her late-series growth also matters. Ochaco develops greater hand-to-hand competence and demonstrates the composure to keep operating under extreme psychological pressure. Official episode material places her and Tsuyu directly in the confrontation with Himiko Toga during the final conflict: official episode listing for the Toga confrontation.
Ochaco ranks second because she combines powerful control with improved close combat and crisis performance. She can be placed first under a ranking that gives the greatest weight to late-series development, emotional resilience, and large-scale battlefield impact. Mina remains ahead here because her abilities are more immediately complete in a conventional all-purpose fight, while Ochaco’s best applications still depend on contact, timing, and managing the physical cost of extended use.
1. Mina Ashido — Acid
Best at: immediate offense, defense, mobility, area denial, and close-range pressure.
Main limitation: higher-output acid requires careful control and concentration, especially around allies.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchMina is the strongest overall combatant among the girls in Class 1-A because Acid offers the most complete blend of battle functions. It is not merely a corrosive attack. Mina can adjust the concentration of the acid she produces, allowing her to balance offensive pressure with safer applications. The official profile also emphasizes her exceptional physical ability: official Mina Ashido profile.
Best Value
That combination gives Mina immediate answers at several ranges. She can threaten opponents directly, control areas they cannot safely cross, create defensive options, and use her athleticism to maintain close-range pressure. Her mobility and physicality mean she is not dependent on a long preparation sequence before becoming dangerous.
Acid also gives Mina unusual control over the pace of a fight. She can deny space, punish pursuit, and force an opponent to respect the ground and routes around her. This versatility is why she edges out Ochaco and Momo in a general combat ranking: she has a higher immediate floor than Momo and a more naturally complete offensive package than Ochaco.
The caveat is control. More dangerous acid techniques can create risks for teammates and require concentration. Mina cannot simply use maximum output without considering the surroundings. Even so, among these six, she has the best all-around combination of physical ability, immediate offense, mobility, and battlefield control.

Yes—depending on what “strongest” means.
| Scenario | Best candidate | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Unprepared, conventional fight | Mina | Immediate offense, mobility, physical ability, and area denial require less setup. |
| Prepared team mission | Momo | Creation can supply equipment, restraints, protection, communications, and specialized solutions. |
| Large-scale crisis with many objects and civilians | Ochaco | Zero Gravity can reposition people, neutralize debris, disrupt movement, and reshape the battlefield. |
| Stealth or infiltration mission | Toru | Invisibility gives her the strongest concealment advantage. |
| Search-and-rescue intelligence operation | Jiro | Earphone Jack provides detection and long-range sensory information. |
| Mobile rescue or capture in difficult terrain | Tsuyu | Frog combines movement, pursuit, restraint, and rescue utility. |
These scenario results do not invalidate the main order. They show why a single strength ranking cannot fully capture the class’s teamwork value. Momo can be the most useful person in a prepared operation; Ochaco can have the greatest crisis impact; and Mina is the strongest choice for an immediate, all-purpose fight.

Official reference material for fans
The ranking above is an editorial interpretation, not a published official power chart. Readers who want more character information can consult My Hero Academia: Ultra Analysis—The Official Character Guide. The publisher describes it as a reference containing character profiles, stats, trivia, and artwork; it should be treated as a character guide rather than evidence of this particular ranking.
Official post-graduation material confirms that the main Class 1-A cast eventually becomes professional heroes eight years after graduating, and a later special episode continues their stories: official post-graduation announcement. That future status supports evaluating them as developing heroes, but it does not establish an official order of strength among the six girls.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the strongest girl in Class 1-A?
Mina Ashido is the strongest overall choice in a conventional combat ranking because Acid combines immediate offense, defense, mobility, area denial, and close-range pressure. Momo can be stronger in a prepared operation, while Ochaco can have greater impact in a large-scale crisis.
Who is the weakest fighter among the girls in Class 1-A?
Toru Hagakure ranks lowest in direct combat because Invisibility provides limited stopping power in a prolonged stand-up fight. She is not the least useful hero: stealth, scouting, infiltration, and surprise can make her the best choice for specialized missions.
Is this an official My Hero Academia ranking?
No. The series’ official character materials establish the students’ identities and Quirks, but they do not publish this six-character strength order. The ranking is an editorial comparison based on combat, control, mobility, versatility, rescue value, and reliability.
Why is Momo not ranked first if Creation is so versatile?
Creation has the highest preparation-based ceiling, but Momo needs knowledge, time, available lipids, and a workable plan. In an unprepared fight, Mina’s offense and mobility are more immediately available. Momo can reasonably be number one in a planned team mission.
The Bottom Line
Final ranking: 1. Mina Ashido, 2. Ochaco Uraraka, 3. Momo Yaoyorozu, 4. Tsuyu Asui, 5. Kyoka Jiro, 6. Toru Hagakure. Mina wins the all-purpose combat comparison, but Momo and Ochaco can surpass her under preparation-heavy or large-scale crisis conditions. The order measures direct fighting and overall hero effectiveness—not each character’s value to Class 1-A.
