Wicked: For Good is the week’s biggest streaming arrival. The musical sequel lands on Netflix on July 20, 2026, giving Elphaba and Glinda their second U.S. subscription-streaming window after the film’s Peacock debut in March. For something smaller, sharper and more emotionally grounded, Jesse Eisenberg’s A Real Pain is newly on Hulu this month, although it arrived on July 16—just before this week’s window.
The rest of the July 20–26 lineup covers returning romantic drama, behind-the-scenes sports entertainment, true crime, broad comedy, food television and celebrity reality. These are U.S.-oriented dates; catalogs, subscription tiers and transactional availability can change by territory and over time.

Wicked: For Good is the event watch
Netflix adds Wicked: For Good on July 20. The film concludes the movie adaptation’s story of Elphaba and Glinda, played by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Jon M. Chu returns as director, with Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, Colman Domingo and Jeff Goldblum among the other listed cast members.
The story picks up with Elphaba living in exile while fighting to expose the truth. At the same time, she attempts to repair her relationship with Glinda, her estranged friend, as the two try to save Oz. It is the natural choice for viewers looking for a large-scale musical, recognizable stars and a concluding chapter rather than another standalone release.

- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
There is one important availability distinction: this is not the film’s first subscription-streaming release. Peacock became its first U.S. subscription home on March 20, 2026. Netflix’s July 20 date is a second subscription window, which makes this a particularly useful arrival for Netflix subscribers who skipped the Peacock run or want to revisit the story without changing services.
Netflix viewers who want the full arc can make it a double feature by watching the first Wicked film before the sequel. Those who prefer to keep a favorite musical outside a rotating subscription catalog can also look for the Wicked: For Good 4K UHD, Blu-ray or DVD; owning a disc is an alternative to streaming, not a requirement for watching it on Netflix.
A later U.S. availability check found the sequel streaming on Netflix, including its ad-supported plan, and listed rental or purchase options through Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store and Fandango At Home. Those listings are subject to change, so check the service or retailer before renting or buying.
A Real Pain is the intimate alternative
If Wicked: For Good is the obvious group watch, A Real Pain is the quieter recommendation. The 2024 R-rated comedy-drama became available on Hulu on July 16, several days before the July 20–26 period. Calling it “newly on Hulu this month” is accurate; calling it a title arriving during this particular week is not.
Jesse Eisenberg writes, directs and stars as David, one of two mismatched cousins who travel through Poland to honor their late grandmother. Kieran Culkin plays Benji, and Will Sharpe is also listed in the cast. The trip brings family memories and old tensions to the surface, testing a relationship that is affectionate, frustrating and difficult to define.

The film’s appeal is not conventional vacation escapism. Its journey is a framework for grief, family resentment, awkward humor and emotional discomfort. That makes it a good counterpoint to the color, scale and fantasy of Wicked: For Good: choose A Real Pain if you want a shorter-feeling, character-led film whose comedy comes from people behaving badly, strangely or honestly under pressure.
Hulu is the verified U.S. subscription-streaming home in this research pass. Transactional listings, including an A Real Pain digital rental and physical-media options, may also appear depending on the retailer and region. If you already have Hulu, streaming is the straightforward route; renting or buying makes more sense for viewers who do not want another subscription or who want a copy outside the catalog.
More Netflix picks by mood
For a returning romantic drama: Ransom Canyon Season 2 — July 23
Ransom Canyon returns on Netflix on July 23. The series is framed as a romantic neo-Western, with Staten and Quinn pursuing risky new ventures intended to bring hope and prosperity back to Ransom Canyon while confronting feelings they have not fully resolved.

This is the week’s clearest binge-oriented scripted choice. It is aimed at viewers who want an ongoing emotional story rather than a single self-contained film, especially if romance, small-community pressures and Western scenery are a stronger draw than musical spectacle. The important starting point is Season 1: Season 2 is a continuation, not an ideal entry point for someone seeking a standalone drama.
For wrestling fans: WWE: Unreal Season 3 — July 21
The third season of WWE: Unreal arrives on July 21. The series goes inside the writers’ room and the creative decisions behind WrestleMania 42, with Netflix highlighting John Cena’s farewell, the return of a fan favorite and the emergence of the next generation of WWE stars.

This is best understood as access to the making of sports entertainment rather than a replacement for watching the matches themselves. The hook is the decision-making: how storylines, performers and major-event plans are shaped behind the scenes. It is a natural pick for viewers who follow WWE but are more curious about the production and narrative machinery around the ring.
For true crime: A Toxic Love Story — July 22
Netflix adds A Toxic Love Story on July 22. The true-crime documentary centers on a young woman’s arrest connected to an alleged violent-fantasy plot. The investigation asks a deliberately unsettling question: who is the victim, and who is the villain?

Because the case involves allegations, the careful approach is to treat the documentary’s framing as an investigation rather than as proof of guilt or a settled account.
For broad comedy: 72 Hours — July 24
72 Hours arrives on July 24, following a 40-year-old executive who is accidentally added to a group chat belonging to younger people. He then joins them for a three-day bachelor party in Miami.

Kevin Hart leads this broad, fish-out-of-water setup. It is the uncomplicated option in a week that otherwise leans toward grief, relationship tension, backstage analysis and crime. Choose it when the goal is a fast, high-energy comedy premise rather than a serious drama or a documentary.
For food and consumer testing: The Taste Test — July 22
The Taste Test is a new Netflix series from the America’s Test Kitchen team, arriving on July 22. Experts taste and review supermarket foods and ingredients, giving the week a practical, service-oriented option amid the larger entertainment releases.

This is the pick for viewers who like structured comparisons and food guidance more than plot-driven television. It can also work as low-commitment viewing: the premise naturally supports dipping in for individual product or ingredient tests rather than committing to a serialized story.
For celebrity reality: Kaulitz & Kaulitz Season 3 — July 23
The third season of Kaulitz & Kaulitz arrives on July 23. The returning reality series follows the twins through health checkups, a stormy wedding and a journey into their past.

Its appeal is the combination of celebrity access and a continuing family relationship. As with Ransom Canyon, viewers who have not watched the earlier seasons may get more from starting at the beginning, while established fans have a new set of personal and family developments to follow.

- Choose Wicked: For Good if you want the week’s largest mainstream release, a musical fantasy and the conclusion to Elphaba and Glinda’s film story. Watch the first Wicked first if you need a refresher or want the intended two-film experience.
- Choose A Real Pain if you want a more grounded, emotionally complicated film about family, grief and an uneasy trip through Poland. Remember that it is a recent July 16 Hulu addition, not a July 20–26 arrival.
- Choose Ransom Canyon Season 2 if you are ready for a continuing binge with romance and neo-Western drama.
- Choose WWE: Unreal Season 3 if the backstage creative process interests you more than another scripted series.
- Choose A Toxic Love Story for allegation-focused true crime, 72 Hours for broad comedy, The Taste Test for practical food viewing or Kaulitz & Kaulitz for celebrity reality.
The cleanest two-title plan is a contrast: make Wicked: For Good the event watch, then use A Real Pain when you want something intimate and less fantastical. For a longer commitment, start with Ransom Canyon Season 2—but only if you are already caught up.

Start with Wicked: For Good on Netflix on July 20 for the week’s main event, remembering that Netflix is its second U.S. subscription-streaming home after Peacock. For a more grounded alternative, A Real Pain is already on Hulu from July 16. Binge viewers should turn to Ransom Canyon Season 2, while the rest of the week offers WWE access, true crime, comedy, food testing and celebrity reality.
