Snapchat+ is an optional paid subscription inside Snapchat. It adds customization tools, extra Story and chat controls, AI and Lens features, Snapchat Memories storage, and access to experimental or early-release features. You do not need Snapchat+ to use Snapchat’s core camera, messaging, Stories, or social features.
In the United States, Apple’s current App Store listing shows the standard Snapchat+ monthly plan at $4.99 per month. That is not a universal price: Snapchat says the amount varies by country, device, plan, and purchase channel. Check the Snapchat+ paywall immediately before subscribing for the price that applies to your account.

That figure should be treated as a current U.S. App Store reference, not a worldwide or guaranteed price. Snapchat says pricing can vary according to:
- your country or region;
- whether you subscribe through Apple, Google, Snapchat, or another provider;
- your device and available plan options;
- whether you choose monthly or annual billing; and
- applicable taxes or payment-provider terms.
Snapchat may show different plans or prices to different users. The paywall may initially display only some available options, and annual billing is not necessarily offered in every region. Before confirming payment, use the amount shown in the Snapchat+ purchase screen as the authoritative price for your account.
Does Snapchat+ have an annual plan?
Snapchat says individual subscriptions may be offered with monthly or yearly billing. However, the available billing periods depend partly on location and the live purchase screen. Do not assume that a particular annual price—or even an annual option—is available to every subscriber.
Which Snapchat+ plans are available?
Snapchat’s current support documentation describes four main subscription choices. Availability is not uniform, and Snapchat may roll out, rename, modify, or restrict plans over time.
1. Standard Snapchat+
The standard plan is the main Snapchat+ subscription. Snapchat currently describes it as including more than 40 exclusive features. These cover customization, social indicators, Story tools, AI-powered features, and utilities such as Streak Restore. It typically includes 250GB of Snapchat Memories storage.
2. Snapchat+ Family
The Family Plan allows the primary subscriber to add two additional people. Each member receives Snapchat+ access and 250GB of Memories storage.
The primary subscriber controls the plan. If that person changes plans, removes members, cancels, or otherwise loses the subscription, the added members may lose their Snapchat+ access. Snapchat identifies Family as the listed plan that allows one subscriber to add other people; it should not be confused with separate individual subscriptions.

Lens+ includes the standard Snapchat+ feature set, plus:

Snapchat says Lens+ availability may roll out gradually and vary by region. It is aimed most directly at users who care about Snapchat’s augmented-reality camera features and AI Lenses, rather than users who mainly want chat customization.

4. Snapchat+ Platinum
Platinum combines the standard Snapchat+ features with Lens+ benefits, exclusive generative-AI Lenses, and 5TB of Memories storage.
Snapchat’s description of the Platinum Monthly Plan also says it includes no Sponsored Snaps and no Story or Lens ads. That wording matters: it does not justify saying that every advertisement disappears from every screen or surface in Snapchat. The documented benefit applies specifically to those named ad types and placements.
Platinum is rolling out gradually and may not be available in every region. It is also not listed as available through Snapchat+ Web Subscriptions.

What is included with standard Snapchat+?
Snapchat’s current feature list includes the following examples and tools. The list is subject to change, so “included” means currently listed by Snapchat rather than a permanent guarantee.
Customization and appearance
- Custom app icons and app themes.
- Bitmoji backgrounds, pets, and car options.
- Chat wallpapers, including generative Chat Wallpapers.
- Generative Profile Backgrounds.
- Custom chat colors.
- Custom ringtone and notification sounds.
- Custom Story expiration settings.
- A Snapchat+ badge.
- A Post View Emoji.
These features are primarily cosmetic or expressive. They can make Snapchat feel more personalized, but they do not unlock the basic ability to send Snaps, chat, or view Stories.
Friends, chats, and social indicators
- #1 Best Friend, which identifies a selected friend as your top Best Friend.
- Extended Best Friends List.
- Friends in Chat, showing when friends are present in a chat context.
- Peek a Peek, a visibility feature for certain chat activity.
- Solar System, which gives additional context about a friend’s position in your Best Friends system.
- Priority Story Replies, intended to make replies to certain public Stories more prominent.
These social indicators can be useful for people who spend a lot of time managing friendships and conversations in Snapchat. They may be less valuable if you use the app mainly as a private camera or occasional messaging tool.
Stories and audience controls
- Story Boost.
- Story Rewatch.
- Story timestamps.
- Story View Notifications.
- Story expiration controls.
These are among the more practical features for frequent Story posters. They provide additional visibility or control, although the precise behavior can depend on the Story type, audience, and Snapchat’s current implementation.

Streak Restore can be the most tangible benefit for users who regularly maintain Snapchat Streaks and occasionally miss one. The other tools are more specialized: they may appeal to heavy Snapchat users but offer little to someone who rarely sends Snaps.

- Generative Profile Backgrounds.

AI features may be experimental, limited by region, or changed as Snapchat develops them. A subscription should not be purchased on the assumption that a particular AI tool will remain unchanged indefinitely.

The exact screens can change with app updates, but Snapchat+ is generally purchased from the Snapchat+ subscription page inside the app. Open Snapchat, tap your profile or Bitmoji, and look for the Snapchat+ banner or subscription entry. Review the plan, billing period, price, and renewal terms before confirming.
Automatic renewal
Paid subscriptions generally renew automatically unless you cancel them. The payment may be handled by Apple, Google, Snapchat, or another purchase provider, so the provider’s billing terms can apply in addition to Snapchat’s paid-features terms.
Canceling on iPhone
If you subscribed through an iPhone or iPad, manage the subscription through the Apple App Store. In current iOS versions, the usual route is:
- Open Settings.
- Tap your Apple Account name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Snapchat.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If Snapchat does not appear there, you may have subscribed through a different provider or account. Check the purchase receipt and the subscription page inside Snapchat.
Canceling on Android
If you subscribed through Android, use Google Play:
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Choose Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Snapchat.
- Choose Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
According to Snapchat’s U.S. guidance, canceling stops the next renewal while normally allowing access through the already-paid monthly or annual period. Canceling the app, deleting Snapchat, or removing it from your phone is not the same as canceling the subscription.
Gifting Snapchat+
Snapchat supports prepaid gift subscriptions. Under Snapchat’s gifting terms, a gifted subscription does not automatically renew unless the recipient later purchases or retains a separately paid subscription. Check the gift details and expiry conditions before sending or redeeming one.

- Plans vary. Family, Lens+, and Platinum may not be available in every region.
- Features can roll out gradually. A feature listed by Snapchat may not appear immediately on every account.
- Features can change. Snapchat’s paid-features terms allow subscription benefits and features to change over time.
- Web availability is limited. Snapchat says Lens+ and Platinum are not available through Snapchat+ Web Subscriptions.
- Upgrades may be provider-specific. If you bought through Apple or Google, you may need to manage an upgrade through that app store.

Is Snapchat+ worth paying for?
Snapchat+ is most worthwhile for frequent Snapchat users who will regularly use its specific extras. It is easier to justify if you care about several of the following:
- custom app icons, themes, chat wallpapers, or Bitmoji options;
- Story analytics, notifications, boosts, or additional Story controls;
- Streak Restore and other Streak-related tools;
- early access to experimental Snapchat features;
- AI creative tools or exclusive Lenses;
- 250GB or more of Memories storage; or
- sharing a Family Plan with two other people, where that plan is available.
It is less compelling if you only use Snapchat for basic messaging, viewing Stories, or taking occasional photos. Snapchat remains usable without the subscription, and Snapchat+ is primarily an enhancement layer rather than a requirement for the core service.
A practical decision test
Before subscribing, ask three questions:
- Which exact feature do I want? If the answer is only “a better Snapchat,” the subscription may not feel valuable. Identify the named feature first.
- Will I use it every month? A monthly subscription makes more sense when you repeatedly use the tools, not merely because they look interesting in the feature list.
- Would storage alone solve the problem? If your priority is saving Memories, compare the standard, higher-tier, and Memories-only storage options rather than paying for features you will not use.
Snap reported in a July 16, 2026 newsroom update that Snapchat+ and its broader subscription business had grown to more than 25 million subscribers globally since the 2022 launch. That figure describes the subscription business broadly and should not be read as the number of standard Snapchat+ subscribers alone. Subscriber count also does not establish whether the service is good value for a particular user.
