Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first film in a planned three-part theatrical adaptation of the manga’s final major battle—not a conventional fifth television season or a standalone reboot. For viewers in the United States, the film is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and to purchase digitally through select retailers, including Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, and Fandango. Availability, language options, and purchase platforms vary by territory.

The film follows the Hashira Training storyline. After Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion, Tanjiro Kamado, the Hashira, and other members of the Demon Slayer Corps are drawn into the demons’ stronghold: the shifting, dangerous Infinity Castle. This spoiler-light guide explains the film’s place in the series, release history, viewing options, production credits, manga context, and what is confirmed about the next installment.

Spoiler note: The main guide below discusses the official premise and franchise context but avoids specific fight outcomes, deaths, and manga-derived twists.

Infinity Castle at a glance

Where does it begin? Immediately after the Hashira Training storyline.
Who made it? ufotable, directed by Haruo Sotozaki, with character design and chief animation direction by Akira Matsushima.
Current U.S. home-viewing options Crunchyroll streaming and digital purchase through participating services, subject to territory and retailer availability.
Has Part II been dated? No. The second film is in production, but no official release date or window had been announced as of August 12, 2026.

What Infinity Castle is—and what it is not

Aniplex announced on July 1, 2024, that the Infinity Castle arc would be produced as a trilogy of films. The decision changes the shape of the ending: instead of adapting the final major confrontation as another television season, the production presents it as a sequence of large-scale theatrical releases.

Only the first installment has been released. The title may appear in English-language listings as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I or simply Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. A Japanese home-video listing identifies the first chapter with a subtitle equivalent to “Akaza Returns,” but the most useful general search term remains Infinity Castle.

This is also not a reboot designed to introduce the characters from the beginning. The film assumes that viewers know Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, the Hashira, Muzan Kibutsuji, and the conflict between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons. The best preparation is to complete the anime through the Hashira Training storyline before watching the film.

Where to watch Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Streaming in the United States

As of August 12, 2026, the first Infinity Castle film is available to stream on Crunchyroll in the territories covered by its July 2026 announcement. Crunchyroll streaming began on July 28, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

The date should not be treated as a worldwide release date. The official announcement says availability varies by region and specifically excludes Japan and Mainland China from its worldwide Crunchyroll statement. Viewers outside the United States should check the Crunchyroll listing for their own country before assuming the film is included.

Digital purchase

Digital purchase became available on July 28, 2026, in select territories, including North America. The official English-language film site lists participating options such as Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, and Fandango. A retailer may offer the film for purchase without including it in a general subscription catalog, so check whether the listing says buy, rent, or stream before completing the transaction.

The official digital page also cautions that a purchase provides a limited license to access the content and remains subject to the retailer’s terms. In practical terms, digital ownership is access through the retailer’s service—not the same thing as receiving a transferable video file.

Audio and subtitle options

The Crunchyroll title listing includes Japanese audio and multiple subtitle options. The July 2026 announcement lists a broader range of dubbed and subtitled languages. Exact tracks can differ by country, platform, and licensing arrangement, so confirm the audio and subtitle menu on the specific listing you plan to use.

Is it still in theaters?

The original theatrical rollout began in Japan on July 18, 2025, followed by the United States and Canada on September 12, 2025. The film returned for limited screenings in the United States and Canada on March 6, 2026; the U.K. re-release began on March 7. Select venues offered SCREENX presentations.

Those dates describe the major announced runs, not a guarantee that every theater has stopped showing the film or that every future re-release will use the same format. Theater availability is local and changes quickly. For most readers now, streaming or digital purchase is the more dependable option.

What about a Blu-ray?

A Japanese official home-video listing confirms separate Blu-ray and DVD editions of the first chapter. That establishes that physical media exists, but it does not prove that a U.S. Blu-ray has a release date, English audio, English subtitles, compatible region coding, or a U.S. warranty. Those details must be checked against the exact edition being sold.

For collectors who want a disc, the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Blu-ray is the most topic-specific physical item to investigate. Before buying an import, verify the region, video format, subtitle and audio tracks, included extras, shipping terms, and return policy. A Japanese edition should not be assumed to work in every player or to contain English-language features.

The story setup, without major spoilers

Infinity Castle begins after the Hashira Training storyline, when the Demon Slayer Corps has prepared for its decisive confrontation with Muzan Kibutsuji and the demons. The official synopsis places Muzan at the Ubuyashiki Mansion before Tanjiro, the Hashira, and other Corps members are pulled into the Infinity Castle.

The castle is more than a conventional location. It is the demons’ stronghold: a seemingly limitless, unstable environment in which rooms, levels, and pathways can shift. That setting gives the first film a different dramatic framework from the training-focused material that comes before it. The story moves from preparation into a direct confrontation, while separating characters and conflicts inside an enemy-controlled space.

Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the Hashira remain central to the larger story, but the film is part of an unfinished trilogy. It should therefore be approached as the opening movement of the final battle rather than a complete conclusion to the anime.

How to prepare before watching

  1. Finish the anime through the Hashira Training Arc. The film follows that storyline directly and expects viewers to understand the Corps’ preparation and the major characters involved.
  2. Refresh the central conflict. Tanjiro’s goal, Muzan’s role, the Hashira hierarchy, and the danger posed by the Upper Rank demons all matter more here than they would in a beginner-friendly entry point.
  3. Decide whether you want a spoiler-free experience. Avoid searching individual character names alongside “Infinity Castle,” since search results, thumbnails, and fan discussions may reveal manga developments.
  4. Choose the viewing format. A theatrical presentation emphasizes scale and sound, while Crunchyroll and digital purchase offer the practical advantage of watching at home and revisiting scenes.

Viewers who have only seen the earlier Demon Slayer films or a few episodes should not begin here. Although the broad premise is easy to understand, the emotional stakes depend on several seasons of character development.

Production and creative team

The film continues the core anime production rather than handing the finale to a new studio. Haruo Sotozaki directs the Demon Slayer anime project, with ufotable serving as the animation studio. Akira Matsushima is credited as chief animation director and character designer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The score comes from Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, whose work continues the musical identity established across the anime. The underlying property is credited to Koyoharu Gotouge, Shueisha, Aniplex, and ufotable.

These credits matter because Infinity Castle is designed as a continuation of an established visual and musical production, not a disconnected theatrical side story. The trilogy format also gives ufotable a feature-film framework for the final confrontation, with each installment able to use theatrical pacing and presentation rather than conforming to a weekly television schedule.

Why the theatrical trilogy format matters

The three-film plan turns the end of Demon Slayer into a series of event releases. It allows the final battle to be divided into feature-length chapters while preserving the manga’s larger progression. It also means the audience will not receive the entire ending in the first film.

That distinction is important for expectations. Infinity Castle is a substantial theatrical chapter, but it is not the complete adaptation of the final story. Questions left open at the end of Part I are not evidence that the film is incomplete by accident; they reflect the officially announced trilogy structure.

Reception and box-office significance

The film was a major theatrical success. In its February 2026 re-release announcement, Crunchyroll reported that it had become the highest-grossing anime film worldwide and the second-highest-grossing film of all time in Japan at that point. Crunchyroll’s July 2026 streaming announcement described it as the second-highest-grossing film of all time in Japan and the seventh-highest worldwide film of 2025.

Sony investor materials also identify the film as a significant contributor to Crunchyroll-related theatrical distribution revenue and describe its global performance as a major anime success.

These rankings should be read with their dates attached. Box-office positions can change as new releases, re-releases, and accounting methods alter the comparison set. The durable conclusion is that the first Infinity Castle film performed as a major global theatrical event, not merely as a routine anime release.

Manga context: where should you read?

The film adapts material from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga. VIZ lists official English-language editions, and Demon Slayer manga Volume 16 is especially relevant as a late-series volume covering the Hashira Training setup immediately before the final conflict.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Volume 16 is useful context, but it is not a substitute for the film and should not automatically be treated as an exact one-to-one guide to the movie’s stopping point. If you want to remain spoiler-free, read only through the material you have already seen in the anime or verify the spoiler boundary of any volume recommendation before continuing.

Readers who prefer to know the complete ending can use the manga to move beyond the film, but doing so will reveal developments intended to unfold across the remaining theatrical installments. The safest order for a first-time anime viewer is to watch the film first, then read ahead only if spoilers are acceptable.

Official merchandise and collecting

Infinity Castle has generated a separate merchandise ecosystem, including licensed figures and apparel connected with characters such as Akaza and Doma. Crunchyroll Store listings and Amazon product pages document official or licensed items, but stock and product availability are volatile.

Figures are best treated as collector products rather than viewing accessories. Check the manufacturer, licensing language, scale, seller, preorder status, and return policy—especially when a listing uses a broad franchise name without clearly identifying the product as an official release.

What is confirmed about Infinity Castle Part II?

The second film is in production, but its release timing had not been officially announced as of August 12, 2026. The original Aniplex announcement confirms the three-film plan, and current Crunchyroll reporting confirms that Part II is in production. Neither establishes a 2026, 2027, or any other specific release year.

Readers should be cautious with social-media dates, alleged leaks, fan calendars, and unofficial listings. Until Aniplex, ufotable, Crunchyroll, or another authorized official channel announces a date, the accurate description is simply that the second film is in production and undated. Part III is likewise part of the announced trilogy, but no schedule should be inferred from the first film’s release pattern.

Can I watch Infinity Castle without seeing the earlier anime?

Is there a Blu-ray release?

A Japanese official home-video listing confirms separate Blu-ray and DVD editions of the first film. A U.S. Blu-ray release date was not verified in the official English-language sources reviewed, so check region compatibility, subtitles, audio, and warranty details before importing.

The Bottom Line

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the opening chapter of a three-film finale. If you have completed the anime through Hashira Training, U.S. viewers can now watch the first film at home through Crunchyroll or select digital retailers; viewers elsewhere should verify local availability. The theatrical trilogy is confirmed, but Part II still has no announced release date as of August 12, 2026.
