Why “SHORT” was the answer
SHORT matches every clue. It has five different letters and only one conventional vowel, O. It starts with S, a consonant, and contains no repeated letters.

How Wordle works
Wordle is a daily five-letter word game. You have up to six guesses to identify the hidden answer. After each guess, the colored tiles show how close you are:
- Green: the letter is in the answer and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter appears in the answer but is in the wrong position.
- Gray: the letter does not appear in the answer, subject to Wordle’s handling of repeated letters.
For a puzzle such as #1600, a strong opening guess should test several common letters rather than immediately trying to predict the answer. Once the feedback identifies a likely vowel and rules out common consonants, use the remaining guesses to test position and avoid repeating eliminated letters.
