The central Blue Bloods cast is led by Tom Selleck as NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg as Detective Danny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan, Will Estes as Officer Jamie Reagan, and Len Cariou as former Commissioner Henry Reagan. Around them, the series builds a multigenerational police family supported by detectives, attorneys, command staff, and later additions such as Maria Baez, Eddie Janko-Reagan, Anthony Abetemarco, and Joe Hill.
This guide covers the principal and most important recurring actors and characters from Seasons 1 through 13—not every one-episode guest star. It also tracks the major cast changes, including Jackie Curatola’s departure, Eddie’s move into the regular ensemble, Linda Reagan’s exit after Season 7, Nicky Reagan-Boyle’s final regular-era appearances, and Joe Hill’s arrival in Season 11.
Spoiler note: The guide discusses cast departures, family relationships, and major character developments through the Season 13 finale.
What is the scope of this Blue Bloods cast guide?
Blue Bloods premiered in the United States on September 24, 2010. Season 13 premiered on October 7, 2022, and its finale aired on May 19, 2023. The show centers on the Reagans, a New York family whose members work across the NYPD, the district attorney’s office, and federal law enforcement.
#1 Best Overall
The Reagan family is more than the show’s background. Its famous family dinners bring together competing views of policing, prosecution, public policy, ethics, and personal responsibility. Frank’s job as commissioner, Danny’s methods as a detective, Erin’s work as an assistant district attorney, and Jamie’s career inside the NYPD regularly put the family members on opposite sides of the same case.
Scope clarification: This article stops at Season 13. The original series later received a fourteenth season, but Season 14 is not included here.

The Reagan family cast
Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan
Frank Reagan is the New York City Police Commissioner and the head of the Reagan family. Tom Selleck plays him as a restrained but authoritative figure who must constantly balance public responsibility with private loyalty.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Frank’s conflicts operate on two levels. At One Police Plaza, he deals with city politics, media pressure, departmental discipline, civil-rights concerns, and the practical consequences of police policy. At home, he tries to keep the family together even when Danny, Erin, Jamie, and Henry disagree about what justice requires.
Frank is the institutional center of the series, while the family dinner table reveals the personal cost of his decisions. Selleck remains part of the principal ensemble throughout Seasons 1–13.
Donnie Wahlberg as Detective Danny Reagan
Danny Reagan is Frank’s eldest son, a seasoned NYPD detective, family man, and Iraq War veteran. Donnie Wahlberg gives the character a volatile, intensely committed investigative style that often produces results but also creates conflict.
Danny is willing to pressure suspects, bend procedure, or pursue an unconventional lead when he believes someone is in danger. That approach places him in opposition to Erin’s legal standards, Frank’s command responsibilities, and sometimes the rules of his own department. His cases also affect his family, particularly his sons Jack and Sean.
Detective Jackie Curatola is Danny’s original partner. After Jackie’s departure, Detective Maria Baez becomes his principal investigative partner. Danny’s personal and professional storylines remain central across all 13 seasons.
Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan
Erin Reagan is Frank’s daughter and an assistant district attorney. Bridget Moynahan plays the Reagan who most consistently supplies the legal counterargument to the family’s police perspective.
Erin’s work puts her between the police and the courts. She may support the goal of an investigation while questioning Danny’s tactics, or challenge Frank’s institutional priorities when she believes the legal process or a defendant’s rights have been compromised. Her ambitions and professional independence also give her storylines that do not depend on the rest of the family.
Rank #2
- Runtime: 6021 minutes
Erin’s daughter, Nicky, provides a younger-generation perspective on policing, activism, ethics, and the expectations attached to the Reagan name. Moynahan remains a principal cast member through Season 13.

Jamie is Frank’s youngest son. A Harvard Law graduate who chooses police work, he begins the series as a relatively new officer and develops into a more senior NYPD figure over the show’s run.
Will Estes’s character anchors many of the series’ patrol, intelligence, and departmental storylines. Jamie’s legal education makes him especially alert to procedure, but his family name and his desire to prove himself frequently complicate his career.
Jamie initially works with Officer Eddie Janko. Their professional partnership gradually becomes a personal relationship, and Eddie’s marriage to Jamie brings another working police officer directly into the Reagan family. Jamie remains in the principal ensemble throughout Seasons 1–13.
Len Cariou as Henry Reagan
Henry Reagan is Frank’s father and a former New York City Police Commissioner. Len Cariou represents the older generation of the law-enforcement family, giving Henry a longer historical perspective on the NYPD and on Frank’s choices as commissioner.
Recommended Free Tools
Henry is often the bluntest voice at the Reagan dinner table. He can challenge Frank as a father, a son, and a police leader, and his advice frequently reflects the difference between the department he once commanded and the institution Frank now manages. Cariou is part of the principal ensemble throughout Seasons 1–13.
Amy Carlson as Linda Reagan
Linda Reagan is Danny’s wife and the mother of Jack and Sean. Amy Carlson is an important part of the early and middle-era family ensemble, particularly in stories about the pressure Danny’s police work places on his home life.
Linda’s storyline reaches its endpoint after Season 7, and her departure is a major change for Danny and their sons. Because she is not present as a regular in the later seasons, readers looking at a Season 8–13 cast list may reasonably wonder where she went; Carlson’s regular run is associated with Seasons 1–7.
Andrew Terraciano as Sean Reagan and Tony Terraciano as Jack Reagan
Sean and Jack are Danny’s sons and the next Reagan generation. Andrew Terraciano plays Sean, who remains associated with the family across the Season 1–13 span. Sean appears regularly in family scenes and in stories examining how a police officer’s work affects his children.
Tony Terraciano plays Jack, Sean’s older brother. Jack is more visible in the early and middle-era Reagan ensemble, with the role ending before Season 13. Together, the boys give Danny’s cases a domestic consequence: his work is not simply a job that ends when he leaves the precinct.
Sami Gayle as Nicky Reagan-Boyle
Nicky Reagan-Boyle is Erin’s daughter and Frank’s granddaughter. Sami Gayle’s character offers one of the show’s clearest younger perspectives on the Reagan legacy.
Rank #3
- Runtime: 2805 minutes
Nicky’s storylines engage with questions about policing, social activism, ethics, and the pressure of being raised by a family whose name is closely associated with New York law enforcement. Gayle’s regular association with the series runs from Season 1 through Season 10, making Nicky an important part of the show’s first decade even though she is not a defining regular presence in the final seasons.
Will Hochman as Joe Hill
Joe Hill is introduced in Season 11 as a previously unknown Reagan grandson. He is the son of the late Joe Reagan, the family member whose murder forms a crucial part of the show’s backstory, and he works as an ATF agent.
Joe’s introduction reconnects the present-day Reagans with a relative they did not know they had. His undercover ATF assignment also gives the family another law-enforcement identity to negotiate: Joe is part of the Reagan legacy, but he operates outside Frank’s NYPD chain of command.
Joe Hill continues to intersect with the established family and professional ensemble in Seasons 12 and 13. His arrival is one of the most significant late-series additions.
The NYPD, DA’s office, and command staff
Jennifer Esposito as Detective Jackie Curatola
Detective Jackie Curatola is Danny’s original NYPD partner and one of the most important characters in the show’s first three seasons. Jennifer Esposito helps establish the early procedural identity of the series, with Jackie serving as a capable investigative counterpart to Danny’s more aggressive instincts.
Esposito’s regular run covers Seasons 1–3. Jackie returns in the Season 13 finale for a Danny-and-Baez investigation, giving the final-season story a direct connection to the show’s early detective partnership.

Marisa Ramirez as Detective Maria Baez
Detective Maria Baez becomes Danny’s principal partner after Jackie Curatola’s departure. Marisa Ramirez is listed as a regular beginning in Season 4 and continuing through Season 13.
Baez gives Danny’s later cases a stable investigative partnership while retaining the tension that makes Danny’s work distinctive. Their cases often require Baez to work alongside Danny’s instincts without simply endorsing every shortcut. CBS episode materials repeatedly identify Danny and Baez as an investigative team, and their partnership becomes one of the defining professional relationships of the later series.
Vanessa Ray as Officer Eddie Janko-Reagan
Eddie Janko begins as Jamie’s patrol partner. Vanessa Ray’s character is initially a colleague within the NYPD, but her relationship with Jamie eventually makes her a member of the Reagan family as well.
Eddie becomes a regular cast member from Season 5 onward, after appearing in a recurring capacity. Her Jamie-and-Eddie storyline expands the show’s police-family structure: their relationship must function both inside the pressures of patrol work and within a family where nearly every personal disagreement can become a professional disagreement too.

Detective Abigail Baker is Frank’s dependable aide and a senior member of his office staff. Abigail Hawk’s character is frequently involved in the Commissioner’s command-level cases, internal workplace dynamics, and the practical operation of Frank’s office.
Rank #4
Baker’s importance is less about leading a separate family storyline than about showing how Frank’s decisions are implemented and challenged inside One Police Plaza. Hawk is associated with the series from its early seasons through the period covered here, although her episode billing and prominence vary by season.
Gregory Jbara as Garrett Moore
Garrett Moore is Frank’s deputy and communications strategist. Gregory Jbara plays the member of Frank’s command team who most often translates police decisions into political, public-relations, and policy consequences.
Garrett can be pragmatic where Frank is principled, politically cautious where Frank is direct, or more concerned with institutional fallout than with winning an argument at the dinner table. He is part of the show’s long-running professional ensemble through Season 13.

Lieutenant Sidney “Sid” Gormley is a senior NYPD officer and an internal adviser to Frank. Robert Clohessy’s character frequently speaks for rank-and-file concerns and focuses on the practical effect of command decisions on officers in the field.
Sid’s storylines address departmental loyalty, discipline, chain of command, and the friction between policy as announced from headquarters and policing as experienced by officers. Clohessy is associated with the regular ensemble from the middle seasons through Season 13.
Steve Schirripa as Investigator Anthony Abetemarco
Anthony Abetemarco works with Erin in the District Attorney’s Office. Steve Schirripa’s character often assists with investigations that connect legal procedure to police work, making him a useful bridge between Erin’s cases and the NYPD storylines.
Anthony becomes especially prominent in the later seasons and is listed among the regular cast in Season 13 press materials. His role is distinct from Danny’s: he supports Erin’s investigative and prosecutorial work rather than serving as Danny’s police partner.

Dylan Walsh as Mayor Peter Chase
Mayor Peter Chase is a Season 13 addition. Dylan Walsh plays a city-hall figure whose political priorities bring a new kind of opposition to Frank: not a family disagreement or an internal department dispute, but a conflict between the mayor’s policy agenda and the Commissioner’s approach to running the NYPD.
The Season 13 finale places Frank and Mayor Chase on opposing sides of a homelessness policy dispute. Chase therefore broadens the show’s institutional map beyond police headquarters and the district attorney’s office.
Other recurring characters worth knowing
Peter Hermann as Jack Boyle
Jack Boyle is Erin’s ex-husband and a defense attorney. His professional role creates a personal and legal counterpoint to Erin’s work as a prosecutor. Boyle is a recurring supporting character rather than one of the original central Reagan actors.
Stacy Keach as Archbishop Kevin Kearns
Archbishop Kevin Kearns is an influential friend and confidant of Frank. Stacy Keach’s character gives Frank someone outside the NYPD and the immediate family with whom he can discuss moral, civic, and institutional questions.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How the cast changes from Season 1 through Season 13
- Season 1: The series establishes Frank, Danny, Erin, Jamie, Henry, Linda, Nicky, Sean, Jack, and Danny’s original partner, Jackie Curatola. The central format is already in place: a police family working across the NYPD and district attorney’s office while returning to the Reagan dinner table.
- Season 2: The original Reagan-centered ensemble remains intact. The professional supporting cast expands, while Danny’s family pressures continue to connect individual cases to his life at home.
- Season 3: Jackie Curatola’s regular partnership with Danny comes to an end. This is the major detective-cast transition of the early series and sets up the later move toward Maria Baez.
- Season 4: Maria Baez is established as a regular, giving Danny a more stable later-series investigative team.
- Season 5: Eddie Janko becomes a regular. Her increased presence strengthens the Jamie-and-Eddie storyline and moves her closer to the center of the Reagan family drama.
- Seasons 6–7: Legal and departmental figures such as Anthony Abetemarco gain visibility while the established Reagan family continues to anchor the program. Season 7 also marks the end of Amy Carlson’s regular run as Linda Reagan.
- Season 7: Linda’s storyline reaches its endpoint after the season. Her departure changes Danny’s family stories and the way the series depicts the effect of police work on his sons.
- Seasons 8–10: The show increasingly emphasizes Danny and Baez, Jamie and Eddie, Erin’s professional choices, and the continuing dinner-table structure. Nicky remains associated with the series through Season 10, while the adult professional ensemble becomes more prominent.
- Season 11: Joe Hill joins the extended Reagan family and is revealed to be working undercover for the ATF. His arrival introduces a new legacy storyline centered on the late Joe Reagan.
- Season 12: Joe Hill and the established professional ensemble continue to intersect with the core family. Storylines also emphasize Jamie, Eddie, Erin, Anthony, and Henry.
- Season 13: The regular ensemble remains centered on Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Vanessa Ray, Abigail Hawk, Gregory Jbara, Robert Clohessy, and Steve Schirripa. Dylan Walsh joins as Mayor Peter Chase, while Will Hochman continues as Joe Hill. Jennifer Esposito also returns as Jackie Curatola for a Danny-and-Baez investigation in the finale.
How to watch or collect Seasons 1–13
Principal cast versus recurring cast
Long-running television shows often change billing as characters become more or less central. A performer may appear in official episode publicity without being a season-long series regular, while a recurring character may materially shape the story without appearing in every episode.
For that reason, the safest way to read this guide is:
- Core principal cast: Selleck, Wahlberg, Moynahan, Estes, and Cariou, who form the five central adult Reagan roles throughout Seasons 1–13.
- Extended family: Carlson, the Terraciano brothers, Gayle, and Hochman, whose presence changes across the run.
- Major professional ensemble: Esposito, Ramirez, Ray, Hawk, Jbara, Clohessy, Schirripa, and Walsh, with different entry points and levels of prominence.
- Supporting and recurring figures: Hermann, Keach, Badillo, and other police, legal, political, and family characters who appear as particular storylines require.
This distinction explains why a Season 1 cast list looks different from a Season 13 cast list without meaning that the Reagan family itself has disappeared. The show’s center remains the same even as its partners, aides, relatives, and political opponents change.
