You cannot use this guide to watch a 2024–25 game live now, but it explains where those games originally aired and how to look for retained replays.
For U.S. viewers, there was no single service that carried every game live. National games required the listed broadcaster—ABC, ESPN, TNT, or NBA TV—local games generally required the team’s regional sports network, and out-of-market regular-season games were the main use case for NBA League Pass. Blackouts determined which option worked at a particular ZIP code.

The NBA’s official 2024–25 schedule identified TNT, ESPN, ABC, NBA TV, and League Pass as the principal viewing routes. The specific network changed from game to game, so check the individual listing rather than assuming that one subscription included the entire season.

The 2024–25 regular-season schedule was divided among four principal national outlets:

- ABC: The schedule included 17 regular-season games in ABC’s Saturday and Sunday showcase windows.
- ESPN and TNT: Both carried nationally selected games, including doubleheaders and other marquee matchups.
- NBA TV: The league’s own network carried its separately scheduled games.
To watch one of these games online, you needed a live-TV package or participating TV provider that carried the network named in the schedule. Depending on the service and channel, you might watch through the provider’s app or authenticate in the network’s app or website.
A live-TV streaming service can be useful if your goal is live TV for NBA games, especially when you want ABC, ESPN, TNT, and NBA TV in one package. However, channel lineups, plans, local ABC availability, authentication rights, prices, and RSN access vary by market and can change. Do not treat any provider as a universal answer without checking its current lineup and entering your ZIP code.
Historical 2025 postseason assignments
The 2025 postseason had its own national distribution. The NBA announced that the Finals were exclusively televised by ABC, the Western Conference Finals were on ESPN/ABC, and the Eastern Conference Finals were on TNT. The 2025 All-Star Game was also on TNT. These assignments explain where the games originally aired; they are historical information, not a promise about current NBA rights in 2026 or later.
NBA League Pass: best for out-of-market regular-season games
NBA League Pass was designed primarily for fans following teams outside their local television market. It offered live and on-demand access to hundreds of out-of-market games, along with full-game replays, condensed games, alternate feeds, and other viewing features depending on the region, subscription, and device.

It was the most practical official option for a U.S. viewer who wanted many regular-season games involving teams outside that viewer’s local market.

League Pass did not mean every NBA game was live. In the United States, local-team games and nationally televised games were blacked out live. Before subscribing, enter your ZIP code on the official League Pass purchase or availability page. The result can depend on your location, the local team market, and how the game was distributed.
What the U.S. blackout rules meant
- Nationally televised games: The NBA’s blackout guidance said that these became available on demand at 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time the following day.
- Locally televised games: These became available on demand three days after the live broadcast—effectively a 72-hour delay under the stated U.S. timing.
- Playoff and Finals games: U.S. viewers could not rely on League Pass for live coverage. The games were blacked out live and became available on demand at 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time the following day, subject to the service retaining the replay.
Blackouts are rights restrictions, not an indication that the game is missing from the schedule or that the app is necessarily malfunctioning. If a League Pass listing shows a blackout, use the broadcaster or RSN identified for that game instead.
How to find a 2024–25 replay now
- Open the NBA App or NBA.com.
- Sign in with your NBA ID.
- Open the Games section and locate the date or matchup from the 2024–25 season.
- Choose the available watch option, such as a full replay or condensed game.
Not every replay appears immediately after a game, and an old replay is not guaranteed to remain available forever. The NBA says full-game replays and condensed games require processing and can take several hours to appear. For the stated U.S. League Pass timing, nationally televised games were available the next day and locally televised games after 72 hours. Today, an archived game may also depend on whether the relevant rights and content have been retained in your region.
Local NBA games: find the regional sports network first
If you were watching a team inside its home market, League Pass was generally not the live solution. You needed the regional sports network that held the team’s local rights, or another provider that carried that RSN.
The reliable process is:
- Identify the team and your viewing location. A team’s local market is based on where you are watching, not simply on the team you support.
- Find the team’s regional sports network. The network can differ by team and season.
- Check the RSN’s provider list for your ZIP code. Availability may differ among cable providers, satellite services, and live-TV streaming packages.
- Confirm the exact game’s distribution. Some games may move to a national network rather than remain on the RSN.
There is no universal best live-TV service for local NBA coverage. RSN carriage is particularly important if you follow a local team, and it becomes more complicated if you regularly watch teams in two different markets or travel between locations.

The phrase regional sports network is therefore a routing clue, not a specific subscription recommendation. Verify the team, network, location, package, and current price before signing up.
Using a TV, streaming device, or game console
The NBA App and NBA.com were official access points, with documented support across devices such as iPhone and iPad, Android phones and tablets, Android TV, Apple TV, supported Roku devices, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, selected Xbox and PlayStation devices, Hisense televisions, Comcast platforms, and Peloton. Support can vary by country, device generation, app version, and marketplace.

Amazon describes Fire TV Stick and related Fire TV products as streaming platforms for accessing content providers, but app availability varies by country, device model, generation, and Amazon marketplace.
A streaming stick does not include League Pass, a live-TV subscription, an RSN package, or access to ABC, ESPN, TNT, or NBA TV. It only gives you a way to run compatible apps on the television. You still need the subscription or TV-provider authentication required for the particular game, and blackouts still apply.
Basic TV setup
- Connect the streaming device to an HDMI port and complete its internet and account setup.
- Install the NBA App and, if needed, the app for your live-TV provider or national network.
- Sign in with your NBA ID for League Pass or with your TV-provider credentials for authenticated network viewing.
- Check the game listing before tipoff. Confirm that the listed broadcaster matches the service you intend to use.
- If the game is blacked out in League Pass, switch to the assigned national broadcaster or local RSN rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app.
Why YouTube TV should not be assumed to include League Pass
YouTube TV’s help documentation described TV Everywhere access for networks including ABC, ESPN, ESPN Deportes, NBA TV, and TNT, subject to the plan and date. That makes it a possible route to some national broadcasts when the required channels are included.
However, the same distribution information stated that NBA League Pass was removed from YouTube TV and Primetime Channels after the NBA’s agreement with Amazon made Amazon the exclusive channel store for League Pass. Storefront arrangements can change, so check the official NBA purchase route and the provider’s current help pages before buying. Do not purchase YouTube TV on the assumption that it automatically includes League Pass.

A practical decision process
Use this checklist for any specific matchup:
- Find the game in the NBA schedule.
- Note the listed network or broadcaster.
- Decide whether you are inside the team’s local market.
- If it is an out-of-market regular-season game, check League Pass blackout status with your ZIP code.
- If it is local, verify the RSN and its providers.
- If it is national, verify that your live-TV package or TV provider carries ABC, ESPN, TNT, or NBA TV as required.
- If you are watching an old game, search the NBA App or NBA.com Games section for a replay instead of looking for a live stream.
Common problems and fixes
League Pass says the game is blacked out
Check the schedule for a national broadcaster and confirm whether you are in the team’s local market. Use the national network for a nationally televised game or the RSN for a locally televised game. Waiting for the replay may work, but the relevant delays were next day at 6:00 a.m. Eastern for national games and three days for local games.
The game is listed but the replay is not visible
Replays can take several hours to process. Confirm that you are signed in to the correct NBA ID and that your subscription and region support the content. For a historical 2024–25 game, the replay may no longer be retained even if it originally existed.
The NBA App is unavailable on the television
Check the device’s country marketplace, operating system, model, and app support. Update the device and app, or use a supported browser, phone, tablet, casting method, or streaming device. Hardware compatibility does not override regional rights restrictions.
You are traveling
Blackout treatment is tied to the location from which you are watching and to the game’s distribution rights. Recheck the game after arriving in a different market rather than assuming that the same League Pass result will apply everywhere.
International viewers
The NBA’s 2024–25 schedule announcement said that NBA games and programming were available internationally in 214 countries and territories and 60 languages. That figure describes the broad international reach of the league, not a universal subscription rule.

League Pass availability, blackout rules, prices, and national broadcast partners vary by country.
