Virginia’s memoir, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, portrayed Robert as part of the life she built after leaving the orbit of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. After the manuscript was completed, relatives said the marriage had deteriorated and that the published book needed additional context. The earlier memoir portrait and later allegations therefore represent different points in the relationship and should not be treated as a complete, court-established account of the marriage. Her relatives separately described the marriage as having deteriorated and said the couple had separated around August 2023. In January 2025, Virginia reported an alleged assault to police. Family members gave accounts of serious injuries, but those details came from family sources and should not be stated as independently established court findings. Robert was not charged over the January incident, and his attorney did not provide a substantive response to the allegations.
The legal conflict also ran in the other direction. Robert obtained a family-violence restraining order against Virginia. Reporting said the order gave him primary custody or otherwise restricted Virginia’s contact with the children. Virginia was accused of breaching it, but that allegation remained unresolved when she died. A restraining order and an allegation of breach should not be confused with a permanent custody judgment or a criminal finding about the marriage.
What happened to the family after Virginia Giuffre’s death?
After Virginia’s death, Christian and Noah pursued control of her estate in the Supreme Court of Western Australia. A temporary administrator was appointed while the court considered the family’s competing legal interests.
The estate dispute involves more than a single property. Australian court reporting also considered whether Robert should become a party to the proceedings and whether he could represent the interests of the couple’s minor daughter. If his interests conflicted with hers, the court could consider appointing an independent litigation guardian. The latest reviewed family-specific reporting described the estate case as ongoing.
What is known about the police review?
On June 24, 2026, ABC News reported that Western Australia Police Commissioner Col Blanch had confirmed a review of all police interactions with Virginia before her death. The review followed a request from her family and is limited to those police interactions.
The review was not described as a finding that Robert committed a crime, nor as evidence that Virginia’s death was suspicious. Virginia’s family was also seeking a coronial inquiry into the circumstances leading up to her death. The family described her death as suicide, while early police reporting said foul play was not suspected.
