1. Scary Movie (2000)
The original film is a parody of the late-1990s slasher wave. Cindy Campbell and her friends become targets after covering up a hit-and-run, while a masked killer pursues them. The movie draws especially heavily on Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

It works best as the next step after Scary Movie 3 because it continues the franchise’s move toward larger-scale genre spectacle while retaining familiar faces and recurring jokes.
5. Scary Movie V (2013)
Scary Movie V is the franchise’s biggest cast and continuity change. Jody and Dan become the central couple, and strange activity recorded by security cameras threatens their household.
The film primarily spoofs the found-footage style of Paranormal Activity, while also drawing on Mama, Evil Dead, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Black Swan.
