The right path matters: Macs do not have a native Netflix app, and the current Windows app cannot download shows for offline viewing.
Use the official route for your computer: install Netflix from the Microsoft Store on a Windows 10-or-later PC; install it from Google Play on a compatible Chromebook; and use Netflix.com in a supported browser on a Mac. There is no native Netflix app for macOS.
Windows 10 or later: install the Netflix app from Microsoft Store
- Open the Start menu and select Microsoft Store.
- Search for Netflix.
- Select the Netflix result, then select Install.
- Open Netflix from the Start menu when installation finishes.
- Select Sign In and enter your Netflix email address and password. If you do not yet have a membership, you can sign up from Netflix.
Netflix’s Windows guidance applies to Windows 10 or later, and it says Microsoft Edge must be installed. If the app is not available or will not install, do not look for a third-party installer: use Netflix.com in a supported browser instead. MacBook or iMac: use Netflix in a browser
You cannot download a native Netflix app for a Mac. Netflix makes its Apple app available for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV—not macOS. On a Mac, go to Netflix.com, sign in, and start watching in a supported browser.

Netflix lists macOS 10.15.5 or later as its baseline for browser viewing. Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and other browser support details can change, so check Netflix’s current supported browsers and system requirements if playback does not work. The iPhone or iPad Netflix listing you may see in Apple’s App Store is not a Mac app.
Chromebook: install from Google Play, if your model supports Android apps
Netflix on a Chromebook is installed as an Android app through Google Play. This option is available only on Chromebooks that support Android apps and have Google Play enabled.

- Open Settings and look for the Google Play Store setting. If it is absent, that Chromebook does not support Android apps.
- If Google Play is available but switched off, enable it. Update ChromeOS first if an update is offered.
- Open Play Store, search for Netflix, and select Install.
- Open Netflix from the Chromebook Launcher and sign in.
A school- or work-managed Chromebook may prevent Play Store access or app installation. Compatibility can also vary by model, Android version, location, or screen size. In those cases, try Netflix.com in Chrome. Google explains how to install and use Android apps on a Chromebook, and Netflix has separate Chromebook and Chromebox instructions.
Installing Netflix is not the same as downloading movies and shows
If you want to watch offline, this distinction matters: the current Netflix app for Windows does not support downloading titles for offline viewing, and Netflix says there is no way to return to the previous Windows app. For offline viewing, use a supported mobile device or an eligible Chromebook with Google Play. Individual titles may still be unavailable for download.

If you cannot find or install the app

Use only official download paths
For a computer, the safe choices are Microsoft Store on supported Windows, Google Play on an eligible Chromebook, or Netflix.com in a supported browser. Netflix’s own app-download guidance identifies those platform routes; a random “Netflix for PC/Mac” installer or APK site is not needed. Start with Netflix’s official app download page if you need to confirm the right option for your device.

Can I download the Netflix app on a Mac?
No. Netflix does not offer a native macOS app. Watch at Netflix.com in a supported browser on your Mac.
Can I download Netflix shows on a Windows laptop?
No. Netflix says the current Windows app no longer supports downloads of movies or TV shows, and the old app cannot be restored. Use a supported mobile device or eligible Chromebook for offline viewing.

Why can’t I find Netflix in Play Store on my Chromebook?
Only if the Chromebook supports Android apps and Google Play is enabled. If the Google Play Store setting is missing in Settings, the model does not support Android apps; use Netflix.com in Chrome instead.
The Bottom Line
Windows 10 or later can use the Microsoft Store app; eligible Chromebooks can use Google Play; Macs should use Netflix.com. For offline downloads, do not rely on the current Windows app.
