Summer Game Fest 2024: Kickoff Live took place on June 7, 2024, at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. The roughly two-hour showcase revealed LEGO Horizon Adventures, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Cuffbust, Tears of Metal, Killer Bean, Cairn, Deer & Boy, Battle Aces, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, while also delivering major updates for Street Fighter 6, Alan Wake 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, Palworld, and VALORANT.
This is a scope-controlled guide to the main Kickoff Live broadcast, not every announcement made during the wider June 7–10 Summer Game Fest period. It includes game reveals, trailers, release dates, expansions, seasons, ports, betas, demos, Outersloth, and the Among Us animated series. The separate official showcase recording was followed by Day of the Devs, but that was a separate presentation and is not included in the rundown below.
Summer Game Fest 2024 at a glance
The broadcast contained roughly 45–50 identifiable game, expansion, season, platform, television, and promotional segments, depending on whether a viewer counts DLC, updates, advertisements, and multiple projects shown in a single sizzle reel separately. It was not exclusively a new-game showcase: many of the most important segments were release-date announcements, updates, or new looks at previously announced projects.

The categories below distinguish a genuinely new announcement from a new trailer, release-date confirmation, expansion, update, beta, or promotion. The sequence follows the broad order of the show and its major segments.
Opening announcements
LEGO Horizon Adventures — new game reveal
Guerrilla and Studio Gobo introduced LEGO Horizon Adventures, a playful LEGO adaptation of Aloy’s world. The game was announced for Holiday 2024 on PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It was designed for solo play as well as two-player local or online co-op. PlayStation’s announcement confirmed the unusual combination of a major PlayStation property and a simultaneous Switch release.
No More Room in Hell 2 — new trailer
The broadcast showed a new trailer for the eight-player cooperative zombie shooter No More Room in Hell 2. Its planned launch was PC Early Access around Halloween 2024. The segment emphasized large-scale co-op survival rather than presenting the game as a new reveal.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions — release-date trailer
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions received a release-date trailer confirming September 3, 2024. The standalone Quidditch game was announced for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with PlayStation Plus availability also promoted. The date and platform details were included in contemporary show coverage.

Two Star Games, the developer behind Choo-Choo Charles, premiered Cuffbust, a chaotic prison-break game built around cooperative escape mechanics and cartoonish violence. It was planned for 2025; no more specific release date was given.
Star Wars Outlaws — new trailer
Ubisoft showed more of Kay Vess’s open-world Star Wars adventure, including familiar characters and locations. This was a new trailer rather than the full announcement of the game. The segment also acted as a lead-in to Ubisoft Forward on June 10, 2024, where Ubisoft presented more of the project. The Epic Games Store recap records the trailer as part of the Kickoff Live broadcast.
Neva — gameplay reveal
Nomada Studio, the creators of GRIS, presented the first substantial gameplay look at Neva. The cinematic platformer was announced for 2024 on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox, and PC. Early summaries sometimes omitted Xbox, but the announcement-time platform list included it.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII — new game reveal
2K officially revealed Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, the next mainline entry in the long-running strategy series. The game was announced for 2025 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux. A fuller gameplay presentation was promised for August 2024.

Black Myth: Wukong — new trailer and special editions
Game Science showed another trailer for Black Myth: Wukong and detailed special-edition plans. The PS5 and PC release date was August 20, 2024. The Xbox Series X|S version did not receive a matching date during the show. That meant its timing was undisclosed at SGF—not that the Xbox version had been canceled.
Once Human — release-date trailer
Starry Studio announced that the post-apocalyptic survival game Once Human would launch on PC on July 9, 2024. A limited-time demo was promoted ahead of release. This was one of the smaller but easily missed date announcements in a show often summarized only through its headline reveals.
RPGs, action games, and fighting games
Metaphor: ReFantazio — system-focused trailer
Atlus showed a new trailer focused on the Archetype system in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Director Katsura Hashino and character designer Shigenori Soejima appeared on stage, and the release date was reconfirmed as October 11, 2024.
Batman: Arkham Shadow — story trailer
A new story trailer introduced the Rat King as a major villain in Batman: Arkham Shadow. The game was planned for Fall 2024 and was explicitly announced as a Meta Quest 3 exclusive. The segment did not provide a more precise date.
Street Fighter 6 Year 2 — four DLC fighters
Capcom revealed the complete Year 2 character lineup for Street Fighter 6: M. Bison in Summer 2024, Terry Bogard in Fall 2024, Mai Shiranui in Winter 2025, and Elena in Spring 2025.
This was a particularly important announcement because Terry and Mai are Fatal Fury characters, making the crossover a major part of the season rather than a minor roster update. The Fami通 roundup documents the announced schedule.
Tears of Metal — world premiere
Paper Cult premiered Tears of Metal, a medieval cooperative hack-and-slash roguelike. The trailer showed the game’s combat and co-op premise, but no release date was announced.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO — story and gameplay trailer
The new trailer highlighted story and gameplay features including Episode Battle and Custom Battle. The game was set for October 11, 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Some international listings displayed October 10 because of regional time differences; October 11 was the US-facing date used here. Bandai Namco’s release information is available through its official news page.
Delta Force: Hawk Ops — multiplayer and campaign gameplay
The broadcast showed both sides of Delta Force: Hawk Ops: its extraction-shooter multiplayer and its single-player campaign inspired by Black Hawk Down. A PC global alpha was announced for July 2024.
FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves — character and gameplay footage
SNK showed new footage of FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, including B. Jenet and Vox Reaper. The fighting game was planned for 2025 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The show did not provide a specific day or month.
Battle Crush — early-access trailer
The free-to-play multiplayer brawler Battle Crush received a release update. Early Access began on June 27, 2024, for Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile platforms.

A featurette and action footage introduced the large playable machines in Mecha BREAK. An August 2024 multiplayer beta was announced, but not a full commercial release date.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind — world premiere
Digital Eclipse premiered Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, a retro-styled beat-’em-up planned for 2024. The trailer also showed shooter and racing-style sequences alongside side-scrolling combat, suggesting a broader arcade-style structure than a conventional brawler.
Horror, indie, and new-IP announcements
Blumhouse Games — publishing slate
Blumhouse introduced its video-game initiative with a horror sizzle reel. The named projects were Crisol: Theater of Idols, Fear the Spotlight, The Simulation, Project C from Sam Barlow, and Sleep Awake. These should be described as games Blumhouse was presenting or publishing through its initiative, not as games developed by Blumhouse itself. No firm release dates were supplied for the slate in the segment.
Deer & Boy — world premiere
Deer & Boy is a cinematic platformer about a boy and an injured deer. It was presented as the debut project from first-time developer Lifeline Games. No release date was announced.

Warhorse Studios showed a new story trailer emphasizing medieval politics, violence, combat, and adult themes. The sequel remained planned for 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A year-only window should not be treated as proof that the eventual commercial release occurred within that calendar year.
Slitterhead — first gameplay trailer and release date
Keiichiro Toyama and Bokeh Game Studio presented the first gameplay trailer for the horror game Slitterhead. It was scheduled for November 8, 2024 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Killer Bean — world premiere
The third-person roguelike shooter based on the animated character Killer Bean was revealed with a trailer. Early Access was planned for Summer 2024; no precise date was given during the show.
Cairn — climbing and survival reveal
The creators of Furi and Haven showed Cairn, a climbing and survival game planned for 2025 on PC and consoles.
Wanderstop — new trailer
The Stanley Parable creator Davey Wreden and developer Ivy Road presented another look at Wanderstop, a narrative-focused game centered on running a tea shop. It was planned for 2024 on PS5 and PC.
Unknown 9: Awakening — story and gameplay trailer
Unknown 9: Awakening received a new trailer and remained planned for Fall 2024 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Enotria: The Last Song — trailer, demo, and release date
The Italian-folklore-inspired Soulslike Enotria: The Last Song appeared with a new trailer, a demo promotion, and a community-focused announcement. Its release date was given as September 19, 2024, with PS5 and PC emphasized in the broadcast coverage. Some regional reports displayed September 18 because of time-zone or storefront differences.

Nexon announced that the free-to-play looter shooter The First Descendant would launch on July 2, 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Publishing, television, ports, and ongoing games
Outersloth — indie funding initiative
Innersloth, the developer of Among Us, announced Outersloth, an indie game funding initiative. The initial projects named were Battle Suit Aces, Project Dosa, Mars First Logistics, Mossfield Archives, ONE BTN BOSSES, and Rogue Eclipse, alongside additional projects that had not yet been revealed.
Outersloth is best described as a funding initiative or indie fund rather than automatically calling it a conventional publisher. Innersloth’s launch announcement and official Outersloth page provide the program’s own description.
Among Us animated series — television teaser
The show included the first teaser for the planned animated television adaptation of Among Us. It confirmed the series and previewed its voice cast, but did not announce a firm release date.
Sonic X Shadow Generations — release date
A new trailer confirmed October 25, 2024 for Sonic X Shadow Generations. The remaster and added Shadow campaign were announced for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Dune: Awakening — story cinematic
Funcom presented a story cinematic titled The Vision of Paul Atreides for the survival MMO Dune: Awakening. No release date was given. The trailer also clarified that the game uses an alternate-history premise rather than directly reproducing the storyline of the Dune films.
Battle Aces — strategy-game reveal
Uncapped Games revealed Battle Aces, a streamlined real-time strategy game designed to be more accessible than traditional RTS titles. A beta was teased, but the showcase did not give a firm release date.
The Finals Season 3 — seasonal update
Embark Studios announced Season 3 of The Finals, which launched on June 13, 2024. The update introduced the Kyoto 1568 arena along with new ranked features, loadouts, gadgets, and tournaments. This was a live-service season announcement, not a new game reveal.
Alan Wake 2: Night Springs — story expansion
Remedy announced Night Springs, the first story expansion for Alan Wake 2. Its three episodes were scheduled to launch on June 8, 2024, the day after the showcase. Remedy also announced physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions of Alan Wake 2; those editions should not be confused with the expansion’s launch date. The company’s announcement confirms both points.
New World: Aeternum — console version and rebranding
Amazon announced New World: Aeternum, the console-focused branding and expanded version of New World. It was scheduled for October 15, 2024 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, alongside the existing PC version. The console announcement did not mean that the PC game disappeared; it expanded the game’s availability and presentation.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.3 — update trailer
The trailer for Version 2.3, titled Farewell, Penacony, announced a June 19, 2024 update. The showcased material included a new March 7th outfit.
Dark and Darker — release announcement
Dark and Darker became available on Steam and the Epic Games Store on June 7, 2024. It was one of the show’s day-of-broadcast availability announcements.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess — trailer and release date
Capcom announced July 19, 2024 for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The Xbox version was promoted as a Game Pass launch title.

Party Animals — kart-racing mode
Party Animals received an update announcement for a kart-racing mode. The show did not give a specific launch date for the mode.

Late-show updates and closing reveals
Skate — console playtesting
EA used a comedic trailer to confirm that development on Skate was continuing. Console playtesting was planned for Fall 2024. This was a development update, not a release-date announcement.
Palworld: Sakurajima Update — major content update
Palworld’s first major expansion-style update, Sakurajima, was scheduled for June 27, 2024. The trailer promised a new island, new Pals and subspecies, a raid boss, additional base options, an arena, and dedicated servers for Xbox.

Riot announced the first console versions of VALORANT. Limited beta testing for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S began on June 14, 2024, with the initial rollout restricted to selected regions. Riot’s console announcement and its regional availability information are the appropriate references; the announcement did not apply to PS4 or Xbox One.
Monster Hunter Wilds — major gameplay presentation
Capcom closed the show’s major announcements with a substantial look at Monster Hunter Wilds, including an on-stage discussion with producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. The presentation revealed additional monsters, confirmed cross-play across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, retained the 2025 release window, and promised a playable demo plus more footage at Gamescom.
This was more than a routine trailer: it combined developer commentary, new creature information, a cross-play confirmation, and a commitment to show a playable build. Capcom’s announcement-time details are summarized in the Fami通 coverage.
Phantom Blade Zero — closing gameplay trailer
S-Game’s fast-paced action game Phantom Blade Zero received the closing gameplay trailer. No release date was announced. The segment promoted future hands-on opportunities and a 2024 world demo tour.

The clearest new game reveals
To separate genuinely new projects from previously announced games, the clearest new-game reveals during Kickoff Live were:
- LEGO Horizon Adventures
- Sid Meier’s Civilization VII
- Cuffbust
- Tears of Metal
- Killer Bean
- Cairn
- Deer & Boy
- Battle Aces
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind
Outersloth was also a new initiative rather than a game, while the Among Us segment introduced a television project. The Blumhouse sizzle reel presented multiple projects, but not all of them were individually announced as new games for the first time in the same way as the world-premiere trailers.

Civilization VII confirmed a genuinely broad platform launch
The next Civilization was one of the show’s most consequential reveals because 2K confirmed an unusually broad platform list immediately: current-generation and previous-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux. The promised August gameplay presentation meant the June segment was an announcement and teaser, not a full systems showcase.
LEGO Horizon Adventures expanded Horizon beyond PlayStation hardware
The LEGO adaptation was notable not only because it reinterpreted Aloy’s story with humor and brick-built visuals, but because it was announced simultaneously for PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Its local and online two-player co-op also distinguished it from the primarily single-player structure associated with the main Horizon games.
Street Fighter 6 Year 2 was a major crossover announcement
The four-character lineup made this more than a routine DLC trailer. M. Bison and Elena were familiar Street Fighter names, while Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui brought Fatal Fury into Street Fighter 6. The staggered Summer 2024 through Spring 2025 schedule was the information revealed on stage.
Monster Hunter Wilds added practical multiplayer information
Many showcases use a major trailer to establish a release window and stop there. Capcom’s segment also confirmed cross-play and pointed viewers toward a playable build at Gamescom. That made the presentation especially useful to players deciding whether to follow the game on console or PC.
Alan Wake 2: Night Springs arrived immediately after the show

Which platforms were represented?
Kickoff Live was deliberately multiplatform. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S appeared repeatedly among the larger games, while PC was included in nearly every major announcement. Several projects still supported older hardware, including The First Descendant, Slitterhead, and Unknown 9: Awakening.
Nintendo Switch received the notable new release LEGO Horizon Adventures, in addition to versions of Quidditch Champions and Battle Crush. Batman: Arkham Shadow was the clearest hardware-specific announcement because it was identified as a Meta Quest 3 exclusive. Meanwhile, VALORANT’s console beta targeted only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
