Netflix released the official Season 7 trailer on February 9, 2026. The trailer runs for approximately 1 minute and 43 seconds and previews Mel and Jack’s life as newlyweds, with the couple pursuing adoption while the rest of Virgin River faces romantic, medical, legal and criminal complications.

The trailer is relatively spoiler-light, but it does establish that adoption is central to Mel and Jack’s story and hints at several relationship developments. It should not be confused with Netflix’s separate first-five-minutes preview, which arrived on Tudum on March 10 and reveals considerably more.

Mel and Jack’s adoption journey
Mel and Jack pursue an adoption placement after Marley asks them to adopt her unborn baby. The story follows the emotional and practical strain of preparing for parenthood while dealing with the uncertainty surrounding the placement.

Doc faces an investigation by the state medical board. At the same time, Grace Valley Hospital threatens to change how healthcare operates in Virgin River. The season uses that conflict to explore the difference between locally focused rural medicine and a larger institutional healthcare system.
Preacher and Kaia
Preacher begins thinking about a future beyond running the kitchen at Jack’s bar. He wants to pursue a restaurant of his own, while Kaia becomes increasingly committed to building a life in Virgin River.
Lizzie and Denny become parents
Lizzie and Denny welcome a baby while confronting the consequences of Denny’s Huntington’s diagnosis. Lizzie also struggles with serious postpartum anxiety, giving their new-parent storyline a more difficult and realistic dimension than a simple happy-ending subplot.
Brie, Mike and Brady

Calvin is killed, and Charmaine is rescued
Season 7 kills Calvin in its opening minutes. Charmaine is initially treated as a possible suspect, but the truth is different: Charmaine’s former boss killed Calvin and kidnapped Charmaine and her twins. Charmaine and the children are eventually found and rescued.
That resolves the central Season 6 cliff-hanger without killing Charmaine. Claims that Charmaine dies are incorrect.

Mel and Jack adopt a son
Mel and Jack’s adoption story reaches its biggest turning point when they become adoptive parents to a son who was born with a heart condition. The baby is taken to the neonatal intensive care unit, turning what might have been a straightforward family milestone into a medical emergency.

What has been confirmed about Season 8?
Virgin River Season 8 has been renewed. In a Netflix Tudum update dated April 27, 2026, Netflix said the season was in production and confirmed a 10-episode order. Netflix had not announced a premiere date in the latest official update available for this article.
Some secondary reports predict a 2027 release based on the production schedule, but that is only an estimate. There is no Netflix-confirmed Season 8 premiere date, so “2027” should not be presented as a firm release date.
Confirmed or officially indicated Season 8 story directions include:
