It is currently listed on HBO Max and select channel services, while Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home offer rental and purchase options. Theater availability is more complicated: you need to search by location rather than assume the film is playing nationwide.

#1 Best Overall
Is Friendship free to stream?
There is currently no free streaming option listed for the movie. On JustWatch, the relevant filter is Free; selecting its notification option, Notify me, can alert you if a no-cost legal option appears later.
A subscription service may still be the least expensive way to watch if you already pay for HBO Max, YouTube TV, or a qualifying channel. Do not treat an A24 “Watch Now” link as proof that the film is included in a subscription: the link may lead to a retailer where you must rent or buy it.
Where to rent or buy it digitally
For a one-time viewing, the current U.S. rental and purchase listings include:
Rank #2
- Amazon Video — rent or buy
- Apple TV Store — rent or buy
- Fandango at Home — rent or buy
Rentals are listed from $4.99, although the final price can vary by retailer and change without notice. Purchase offers include listings around $19.99, among other prices.
The official A24 film page links to A24, Apple TV, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Fandango at Home, and a Blu-ray listing through the A24 Shop. Check the checkout screen for the current price, rental period, purchase rights, and supported devices.
Are there showtimes in theaters?
There is no reliable basis for saying that Friendship is currently playing in theaters nationwide. The movie’s U.S. theatrical release was Friday, May 9, 2025, but present-day screenings can be limited, local, or unavailable altogether.
Rank #3
The Fandango listing includes an In Theaters area, a Theaters near search, a Movie Times Calendar, and a notification option. The fetched listing did not display active showtimes without a location search.
How to check your local showtimes
- Open the movie’s Fandango page.
- Find the field labeled Search by city, state, zip or movie.
- Enter your city, state, or ZIP code and select Go.
- Review the Movie Times Calendar and any theater listings or format filters.
- If no screenings appear, select NOTIFY ME to receive an alert if tickets become available.
The official promotional site also shows Get Tickets and an At Home section, but it does not provide enough location-specific schedule information to replace a local Fandango search.

This guide concerns the 2025 A24 film directed by Andrew DeYoung and starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. It is rated R.
Listings disagree slightly about the runtime. Fandango gives 1 hour 37 minutes, while A24 and JustWatch list approximately 100 minutes. That difference is small but explains why you may see both figures on retailer and movie-guide pages.
