What happened to the Quantum Leap revival?
The series premiered on NBC on September 19, 2022, nearly three decades after the original show ended its run. The new story followed physicist Dr. Ben Song, played by Raymond Lee, after he entered the Quantum Leap accelerator and became trapped in the past.
Rather than ignoring the 1989–1993 original, the revival built on its mythology. The story takes place roughly 30 years later and continues the mystery surrounding the Quantum Leap project and Dr. Sam Beckett, the scientist played by Scott Bakula in the original series.

The principal cast included Caitlin Bassett as Addison Augustine, Mason Alexander Park as Ian Wright, Nanrisa Lee as Jenn Chou, Ernie Hudson as Herbert “Magic” Williams, Peter Gadiot as Tom Westfall, and Eliza Taylor as Hannah Carson.
The revival ran for:
- Season 1: 18 episodes
- Season 2: 13 episodes
- Total: 31 episodes
That makes the 2022 series a complete two-season package, although its story was not designed to close every possible door.
NBC canceled it after two seasons
NBC canceled Quantum Leap on April 5, 2024. The second-season finale, “Against Time,” had already aired on February 20, 2024, making it the show’s series finale.
The decision was primarily a performance call. TVLine reported that Season 2 averaged approximately 3.6 million viewers and a 0.44 rating among adults 18–49 when measured with Live+7 figures. That placed it last among NBC’s original dramas that season in total audience.

NBCUniversal executive Jeff Bader said the performance did not justify moving the series to the streaming service, contrasting it with Law & Order: Organized Crime, which the company viewed as considerably stronger across broadcast and streaming.

Netflix provided a second chance—not Season 3

That distinction matters. Netflix did not revive Quantum Leap in the sense of commissioning a third season. There is no verified Netflix Season 3 order. The platform gave the completed two-season series a temporary second life, but it did not continue Ben’s journey with new episodes.

The arrangement also lasted only about six months. Netflix’s final scheduled day for the title was February 13, 2026; it was removed from the U.S. service on February 14. Consequently, articles or social posts saying that the reboot is “currently on Netflix” are outdated for American viewers.

Current U.S. listings show all two seasons available to buy digitally through Amazon Video, Fandango At Home, and the Apple TV Store. Prices and platform availability can change, so search for Quantum Leap (2022) rather than simply searching for Quantum Leap. The latter may return the original 1989 series instead.

Does the finale resolve the story?
“Against Time” functions as the end of the available series, but it does not deliver an airtight conclusion to every character arc. The finale leaves room for future possibilities involving Ben and Addison, which is one reason fans continue to discuss what a third season might have explored.

That open-ended quality should not be confused with a renewal. The show ended with two seasons, and no network or streaming service has announced a continuation. For now, the Netflix run is best understood as a short post-cancellation showcase rather than evidence of a comeback.
