Bees collect honey all over the world. But not all honey is the same. If you do not believe it, just try and go to Nepal and try their honey.
Nepal is the home of the Gurung people. They live in small villages in the vast Annapurna mountain ranges. And they practice an ancient tradition of honey hunting.
During their honey hunting, the Gurung people descent towering cliffs on handmade ladders to harvest honey nestled under jagged overhands.
But what is so special about this honey? Well, during the spring, the honey collected by Gurung people contains a rare substance called grayanotoxin. This substance comes from rhododendron flowers and it is known for its hallucinating and intoxicating effects.
