Eat, Fast and Live Longer explores the recently accepted concept that fasting is key to longevity in the human being. Here science takes the lead to discover what can be done to change the way we live. No pills, no medicines simply fasting. This revolutionary insight looks at a 101 year old Indian man who runs marathons; here we see him running in the London marathon and is happy that the secret lies in what and how much he eats. Mr Singh is remarkable and has never had surgery and never takes medicine…his diet is a simple diet of fresh food and eats normally only a childs type portion.A scientific theory has been existent for as long as Mr Singh has been alive … it is this theory that Michael Moseley examines in this documentary. It isn’t just what we eat but how and when we eat it…following from the Great Depression 1929 – 1033 remarkably, life expectancy rose by 6 years. What is the link between calorie restriction and longevity? Professor Luigi Fontana has conducted studies of many people who have restricted their diets.Meet the CRONIs (Calorie Restrictor on Optimal Nutrition) who eat bucket loads of fruit…and in many instances they eat just the skins and not the main part of the fruit!! 1900 cals per day v 2300 cals per day and this is the basis of a challenge between one of the CRONIs and Michael when they head to a fitness centre to be assessed. Body fat 11% in the CRONI V 27.1% in Michael. The results are very damning and quite conclusive from these tests. The thought is that these results can be reversed by a year on the new diet.We try now to see if the benefits of this diet can be replicated in a way which avoids the necessity to embark on this extreme diet. In the lab there are genetically engineered mice which demonstrate a fantastic difference in life expectancy. A look at a certain population within Ecuador demonstrates that none of them have died of cancer or diabetes but they are small, dwarf-like persons. IGF1 is a growth hormone which has a considerable affect upon certain people…but is there a link?Protein is a link…which pushes us to drive forward instead of slowing us down. How do we lower IGF1…fasting… 3 days and 4 nights of fasting can show very impressive results….water, black tea and one 50 cal cuppa soup… Sitting in a Korean restaurant having eaten nothing all day is not a fantastic thought.Hunger does not build and build but comes in waves which pass…glucose stores are depleted and you then start burning fat deposits and the liver produces less IGF1; or that is the theory on test here….has it been worthwhile? The IGF_1 dropped by a half and reduces changes of cancer. This is an incredible discovery.Along with a change in diet, fasting will need to be once every couple of months to maintain this dramatic change…but is there anything better which is less difficult to achieve? On to another study in Chicago where the research seems easier….alternate day restrictions. Fast day..feed day…fast day…feed day. Animal and human trials seem to indicate this is a much more palatable mechanism to achieve results.Eat whatever you want on the feed day…then eat controlled food on the fast day. Finally, Baltimore and the affects of ageing on the brain. Another mouse takes centre stage and these mice put on the feed/fast diet against standard diet and the results are incredible. Sporadic bouts of hunger actually trigger new neurons to grow…possibly in terms of evolutionary terms it assists survival…fasting does seem to make you sharper!!Simple conclusion: Alternate day fasting is definitely better than continual calorie restriction.Micheal is going to embark upon a 5 days normal and 2 days fasting diet….then test and describe the results after 5 weeks on the diet. His Initial Results:Lost over a stone (14 lbs)Body fat down from 27% to 20%IGF-1 dropped by 50%Diabetic glucose back to normalCholesterol great improvement.Find out more about the 5:2 Fasting Diet.Or try this book!

The Iceman Confessions Of A Mafia Hitman

6,458 Views 1 Comments 01:10:10

The Iceman is an appropriate title for this pair of HBO specials, because the words of former Mafia enforcer Richard Kuklinski will chill you to the bone.Speaking in the monotonous drone of a man who has numbed himself with remorseless brutality, Kuklinski was first interviewed in 1991, five years after receiving consecutive life sentences for multiple murders.Specializing in the tidy use of cyanide, Kuklinski lived a double life, like the fictional hitmen in The Sopranos and Road to Perdition, passing as a "businessman" and devoted husband and father. He describes numerous killings in graphic detail, expressing nearly tearful regret only when lamenting the deception of his family.A vicious product of child abuse, Kuklinski was visited again by HBO in 2001, but this shameless redundancy was an obvious attempt to capitalize on the Sopranos phenomenon. Fascinating as a firsthand record of Mafia killing, these otherwise unsavory interviews serve little purpose beyond morbid exploitation.

‘Is Alcohol Worse Than Ecstasy?’ takes a scientific look towards the current ranking system of drugs. In a surprising outcome, alcohol, solvents and tobacco (all unclassified drugs) are rated more dangerous than ecstasy, 4-MTA and LSD (all class A drugs). If the current ABC system is retained, alcohol would be rated a class A drug and tobacco class B.The drug policies have remained unchanged over the last 40 years; this film highlights that it is now high time for a change in the current ABC System, which is arbitrary and unscientific in the context of the new research findings. The scientists involved, including members of the government’s top advisory committee on drug classification, have produced a thorough assessment of the social and individual harm caused by 20 of the UK’s most dangerous drugs and assert that this should form the basis of future ranking.

The slaughter of Nanking, commonly known as the Rape of Nanking, was an infamous genocidal war crime committed by the Japanese army in Nanjing, then capital of the Republic of China, after it fell to Imperial Japanese Army on December 13, 1937.The duration of the slaughter is not clearly defined, although the violence lasted well into the next six weeks, until early February 1938.During the occupation of Nanjing, the Japanese army committed numerous atrocities, including rape, looting, arson and the execution of prisoners of war and civilians.Although the executions began under the pretext of eliminating Chinese soldiers disguised as civilians, it is stated that a large number of innocent men were intentionally identified as enemy combatants and executed-or simply killed outright-as the slaughter gathered momentum.A large number of women and children were also killed, as rape and murder became more widespread.Watch the second part of this documentary here.

They supposedly control the banking systems, politians and most positions of power, keeping totally secret from the world. This geo-psycho-political picture demonstrates how this evil plan is coming to fruition in the 21st century as we see commercialization of all products; China torturing students and still being allowed to host the Olympics; the closing down of government owned schools and hospitals, and being turned into apartments, and then letting private companies make profits from teaching children or selling drugs."

Adolf Hitler – The Greatest Story Never Told

This is a potentially controversial docu-drama about Adolf Hitler, showing his life growing up, and his reign of Germany through WW2.Most historical documentaries show Hitler as the mad leader behind the slaughter of countless people, and while that part is true, the story behind his life, through defeat in the trenches WW1, his desire to be an artist, and his upbringing is rarely told.During World War 1, which is a turning point in the life of Adolf Hitler, he reportedly loved the trench warfare, even volunteering for hazardous duty, and was actually awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class for Bravery. The film also goes into Hitler’s book, Mein Kampf, one of the worlds best selling books, which gives not only his political and social views, but also talks about boxing, Syphilis and other seemingly random topics.Using historical footage and re-created scenes, this documentary may not change your opinions of the most talked about German Leaders in history, but should at least give you more insight into his life and why he did what he did. This film is broken into parts, starting with the trailer.Be sure to see the filmmaker’s website at: http://thegreateststorynevertold.tv/

So is there a connection to Michael Jackson and his death from the infamous Illuminati? This brief documentary seeks to present Michael Jackson's stance and draws many parallels to symbolism associated with the Illuminati.Michael Jackson and his family maintain that he was none of these things but of course there are few in this world who know of Michael Jackson and who do not hold their own opinion…rightly or wrongly. The point in question is whether the Illuminati sought to disparage Jackson’s fame and influence because he blatantly flouted many of the Illuminati principles and did they as a group use their immense power to influence the general public?Jackson spoke repeatedly that he was going to be killed through a conspiracy of those would branded him with many labels including :FreakHomosexualChild molesterPeadophileWeirdoDrug userThere is talk of the Illuminati embedding satanic lyrics into Jackson’s songs and seeking every opportunity to discredit him….and he claims to have been infected with vitiligo by them.Did the Illuminati then orchestrate Michael Jackson’s death…murder him?Perhaps we will never know but this documentary does make one think…if only for a while.Wish to know more about the Illuminati? .. visit here http://www.documentarytube.com/the-illuminati And if you care to read something more in depth then visit this site http://www.henrymakow.com/was_michael_jackson_another_il.html"

1. Love and Power. This is the story of the dream that was built in the 1990s that computers can create a new kind of world stability. That would create a new global capitalist class free of any risk and without the boom and bust of the past. It would also abolish the political power and create a new type of democracy through the Internet, where millions of people would be connected as nodes in cybernetic systems – without hierarchy.2. The use and abuse of the concepts of vegetation. This is the story of how our modern scientific idea of nature, the ecosystem of self-regulation is actually a fantasy of the machine. It has little to do with the complexity of nature. It is based on cybernetic ideas that were projected in the wild in the 1950s by scientists ambitious. A static machine theory of order that sees humans, and everything else on the planet, as components – teeth – in a system.3. The monkey in the machine and the machine in the monkey. This episode examines why humans find this vision for seductive. The film argues that because all the political dreams of changing the world for the better seem to have failed – so have taken refuge in the machine fantasies that say we have no control over our actions because our failure is excused.

In ‘Civilization: Is the West History?’, filmmaker Niall Ferguson asks how the Western civilization, from exhibiting an unpromising outlook in the 15th century, came to dominate the rest of the world; and if the West is about to be overtaken by the rest. This film comprises of a series of six parts and each of the six parts elucidates the main strengths of the West that made it so successful:Competition: The first part in the series begins in 1420 when England on the eve of the Wars of the Roses seemed quite primitive by contrast to Ming China that had a credible claim to be the most advanced civilization in the world.Science: The domination of West by East was an alarmingly plausible scenario in 1683, when the Ottoman army laid siege to Vienna, the capital of Europe’s most powerful empire; but Islam was defeated by the help of tact and Science.Property: This part looks into the reasons as to why North America succeeded while South America for so many centuries lagged behind. It shows how the two had much in common but they differed profoundly on individual property rights, the rule of law and representative government, which eventually made all the difference.Medicine: The fourth part shows how the French Empire consciously set out to civilize West Africa by improving public health as well as building a modern infrastructure. Yet in other European empires – notably Germany’s in southwest Africa – colonial rule led to genocide.Consumerism: This part illustrates how the world today is becoming more homogenous and, with increasingly few exceptions, big-name brands dominate main streets, high streets and shopping malls all over the globe.Work: The sixth element that enabled the West to dominate the rest was the work ethic, which extolled the spirit of Capitalism by working hard, saving, and accumulating capital.

Religulous

At the beginning of Religulous, Bill Maher shows a bar graph illustrating the number of people in America who are not religious. That figure is 16% more than blacks, more than Jews, more numerous other minority groups who seem to have no problem making themselves heard and getting Congress to do his bidding. Maher wonders aloud why non-religious people are so underground, and why they are having an impact on the national debate. His film is aimed directly at that 16% of the country, and almost anyone else. His goal, and it clearly has one, is to give people the motivation they need to come out and do something … before it is too late.Religulous begins with Bill Maher, alone in Israel at a place called Megiddo, a useless pile of rubble that many of the world’s religions believe the end of the world will begin. From there, Maher pushes us to an intense discussion, sincere, funny and brutal of blind belief, presenting the possibility that maybe we should all consider doubt instead. Next in the world, as it travels from place to talk with people of different faiths on different continents. What is surprising is that even though Maher definitely has an agenda, does not distort his film in the field of propaganda. It is not propaganda, because Maher is not exhausted and the search for rare birds for use in smear tactics against the devout. Usually anyone who tries to make a case against God goes right to the pedophile priests and the suicide bombers, but Maher makes it a focal point in normal people, religious reasonably correct. Not stack the deck in your favor, do not need it. He talks to truckers in a chapel of the road, talking with random, middle class tourists in an amusement park of Christian themes. He talks to religious shop owners, small town preachers, televangelists, Jews for Jesus, fundamentalist U.S. Senators, Vatican priests, religious scientists, secular Muslims, Muslims, gays, people in United States, Utah (c’mon, we all know that is not really America), Europe and even in Jerusalem. Despite a clumsy excuse to discredit him may claim otherwise, it is not extremists or lunatics. These are mostly healthy, rational people, even intelligent to believe something which Maher believes is insane.

Spouse seizing has been conducted as far and wide as possible and all through history. It keeps on happening in nations in Central Asia, the Caucasus locale, and parts of Africa, and among people groups as various as the Hmong in Southeast Asia, the Tzeltal in Mexico, and the Romani in Europe. A few societies today keep up typical spouse capturing custom as a component of customs encompassing a wedding, in a gesture to the act of lady seizing which may have figured in that culture's history. As indicated by a few sources, the special night is a relic of marriage by catch, in light of the act of the spouse choosing total isolation with his wife to evade retaliations from her relatives, with the aim that the lady would be pregnant before the end of the month. If you enjoyed this documentary and would like to see more social videos, click here.

In conjunction with VPRO, a Dutch public broadcasting company, and the Backlight program, this documentary follows John D. Liu as he crosses the globe recording and motivating extensive scale ventures from China, Ethiopia, and Rwanda. Green Gold uses some footage from Hope In a Changing Climate however it builds the profundity of the film with a trek to Jordan, at the welcome of Princess Basma bint Talal, where he lives up to expectations with remarkable permaculture planner Geoff Lawton at the Permaculture Research Institute of Jordan. Aditionally, Princess Talal and the Lawtons' considerations, the narrative emphasizes a greater amount of Liu's appearance on the districts he has gone to. John D. Liu states that the services and products that we get from those ecosystems are subordinates. It's unimaginable for the subordinates to be more significant than the source. But in our economy now, the way things are, the items and administrations have money related qualities, yet the source, the useful biological systems, are zero. So this can't be valid and it is false. We've made a worldwide establishment of monetary, financial organizations and financial hypothesis in light of an imperfection in rationale. So in the event that we convey that imperfection in rationale from era to era we aggravate the mix-up. If you enjoyed this documentary and would like to see more nature videos, click here.

American Hardcore is a music documentary. The director of this video is Paul Rachman and scripted by Steven Blush. It is inspired by the book called American Hardcore: A Tribal History by S. Blush. It was first screened on September 22nd in 2006 for a limited period of time. The film offers some early pioneers of the in-your-face punk music scene including Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, SS Decontrol, D.O.A., The Minutemen and a number of other bands. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the DVD on February 20th in 2007. This documentary addresses the origin and advancement of in-your-face punk rock from 1978 to 1986, in spite of the fact that the cover says 1980 to 1986. The narrative gloats far reaching underground footage shot at the peak of the ‘no-nonsense’ scene. The film includes a number of recorded meetings with bad-to-the-bone punk musicians from groups like Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag and other similar bands from this movement. The film was shot and altered in the course of five years with numerous recorded scenes of 80s hardcore groups being sent in by the groups themselves. A portion of the footage was shot by Paul Rachman in the 80s with the most remarkable bit of footage being the last show of Negative FX which generated uproar after the electricity was cut during the performance. A large portion of the meetings were filmed in both Paul Rachman's and Steven Blush's flats, but in different parts of it, in order to make it look like that they were filmed elsewhere. If you want to watch more music documentaries, click here.

"This is possibly the best documentary review of the events of the fateful day 9/11 2001 when the Trade Towers in New York were completely destroyed by what is believed to be a shocking terrorist attack. You cannot fail to be moved by this documentary and after more than a decade the message is still as poignant as ever and I personally remember the day in my Operations Centre workplace when I witnessed the events of this tragic day on a full video wall in front of all the operators…all calls were treated differently when the realisation of the immense loss was becoming realised. This documentary is one of many made surrounding the events of 9/11 and is an award winning documentary in it’s own right. The capture of the shocking footage of people having to throw themselves to their certain death will live with anyone seeing them forever.Any documentary about such personal and global tragedy will be upsetting and traumatic but they need to be shown so that we and our children do not forget how vulnerable we all are.We may wonder whether this was indeed a terrorist attack or some complex government conspiracy but the stark reality surrounds the tragic deaths of so many on this tragic day…if you wish to explore the search for the perpetrators of this then use this link."
