Imagine being a child but having the body size of an adult. This is the plight of 13 year-old Brendan Van Nes, who at 7ft 3 inches tall is already taller than most adults. His body continues to grow with no end in sight, leaving Brendan and his family struggling to cope with this extraordinary situation.
This one-of-a-kind journey is explored in the heartwarming documentary ‘Giant’, which follows Brendan’s story as he navigates his life in a world that is too small for him. The film captures the reality of adolescent life and its challenges like bullying and social acceptance, while also chronicling his family’s unique struggle as they work together to adjust to their new normal. Through it all, Giant provides an inspiring look at how – when faced with extraordinary circumstances – perseverance and support can make all the difference.
Giant offers viewers a unique insight into a rarely seen side of growing up; one where physical difference becomes not only an obstacle but also an opportunity to discover strength within yourself and find help from those around you. So if you’re interested in expanding your understanding of human diversity, or just looking for an uplifting story, then Giant definitely deserves a spot on your watch list.
