They announced their separation in separate TikTok videos on March 15, 2026, ending a relationship that had lasted nearly four years.
Their relationship status had already attracted attention because of Michael’s 2024 song “Tear It Down.” The track referred to a former girlfriend’s alleged infidelity, and an ambiguous promotional post led some followers to assume it was about Tabitha. Michael later said that interpretation was wrong.

Michael and Tabitha’s current relationship status
As of August 7, 2026, Michael Sanzone and Tabitha Swatosh are former partners. Both creators publicly confirmed the breakup on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The announcements replaced earlier coverage describing them as a couple. Reports from June 2024 correctly presented Michael and Tabitha as still together at that time, but those descriptions are now outdated.

Neither creator has reliably confirmed a new romantic partner since the split. Claims that either one is currently dating someone else should therefore be treated as speculation unless supported by a direct public statement.
Why “Tear It Down” led to breakup rumors
Michael released “Tear It Down” on June 7, 2024, as part of his Going, Going, Gone EP. The song describes the end of a past relationship in which the former girlfriend allegedly cheated.
The speculation came largely from the way the song was promoted. In an Instagram reel, Michael referred to an ex-girlfriend and infidelity without identifying the person involved. Because Michael and Tabitha were a highly visible couple, some followers connected the song to her.
That connection was not verified. Michael later discussed the issue on The Joe Vulpis Podcast and explained that the song concerned an earlier ex-girlfriend who had cheated on him. He said it was not about Tabitha at that time.

The timeline also argues against the claim that the song caused their breakup. Michael released the track in June 2024, and the couple remained publicly together afterward. Their relationship ended almost two years later, in March 2026.
The relationship timeline
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| 2022 | Michael and Tabitha became publicly associated as a couple, with coverage placing the start of their public relationship around October. |
| October 2023 | Cryptic TikToks using Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” prompted breakup speculation. Tabitha later posted a video featuring Michael, which contemporary coverage treated as evidence that they were still together. |
| June 7, 2024 | Michael released “Tear It Down” on the Going, Going, Gone EP. Promotion referencing an ex’s infidelity sparked new speculation. |
| June 2024 | Michael clarified on The Joe Vulpis Podcast that the song was about a previous girlfriend, not Tabitha. |
| March 15, 2026 | Michael and Tabitha separately announced that their nearly four-year relationship had ended. |
What Michael and Tabitha said about the split
Tabitha said that online speculation had begun before she had fully processed the breakup. She also acknowledged that some friends and family members had not yet learned about it when the discussion began publicly.
She described the separation as confusing and said the pair had made repeated attempts to repair the relationship. Those efforts included therapy and time apart. Her comments conveyed that the loss involved more than the end of a romantic relationship: she was also losing someone to whom she had been closely attached for years.
Michael described the separation as difficult and asked for privacy and time. He also said there was no hatred between them.

The breakup affected practical parts of his life as well. Michael had moved to Tennessee nearly two years earlier with Tabitha and two close friends. That move had placed him within a shared home and social circle, so the separation also created uncertainty around his living arrangements and friendships.
What is—and is not—known about the reason
The public statements establish that the couple tried therapy, spent time apart and made repeated efforts to continue the relationship before ending it. They do not establish that cheating caused the 2026 breakup.
That distinction matters because “Tear It Down” is often treated as evidence of infidelity within Michael and Tabitha’s relationship. Michael’s explanation identified an earlier relationship as the subject of the song, and the couple continued dating after its release.
There is also no reliable public confirmation that the song directly described any event involving Tabitha. The safest account is therefore chronological: the song generated rumors in 2024, Michael denied that it was about Tabitha, and the couple announced an unrelated-to-the-song breakup in March 2026. The precise private reason for their separation has not been fully disclosed.

Why the old reports can be misleading
Search results about Michael and Tabitha often combine two different stories. One concerns the 2024 reaction to “Tear It Down,” when they were still together. The other concerns their confirmed separation nearly two years later.
Descriptions such as “Tabitha’s boyfriend,” “Michael’s girlfriend” or “the couple” may be accurate in an article written before March 15, 2026, but they require a date when used now. Similarly, calling them a current couple or suggesting that the song caused the breakup presents an outdated or unsupported version of events.
The verified conclusion is straightforward: Michael and Tabitha were together during the release and promotion of “Tear It Down”; Michael said the song was about an earlier ex; and both later confirmed that their own relationship had ended.
