This camp, home to over 20,000 people, faces extreme conditions due to its limited resources. Nonetheless, Fereshta has found a way to give back and help others. Every afternoon she teaches English lessons in order to help other refugee women regain their self-confidence.
Though her efforts may seem small in comparison to the overall issues within the camp, they are still of great importance. Unfortunately, many of these women find themselves stuck in a transit space far from their homeland while they wait for residence permits for European countries – a process which can last months or even years. During this time, speaking English can open up doors and opportunities for them that would otherwise be unavailable.
