Zenitsu Agatsuma is more than a frightened recruit: official character profiles describe acute hearing, a fear-triggered shift in how he fights, and a sharp contrast between his self-doubt and his combat ability. Here are ten distinct details, with the main-series character kept separate from his Kimetsu Academy spin-off version.
Ten facts about Zenitsu
-
He belongs to Tanjiro’s cohort
Zenitsu is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps and joins alongside Tanjiro and Inosuke, according to SEGA’s official character profiles. The official Japanese profile likewise identifies him as a fellow Corps member of Tanjiro: Zenitsu’s official character profile.
-
His hearing is unusually acute
The official profile says Zenitsu has good hearing. It does not give a measurable range, so claims about how far he can hear should not be treated as established profile facts.
-
He can distinguish people’s sounds from demons’
The Japanese profile says he can distinguish the “sounds” made by people and demons. The original wording is 「耳が良く、人や鬼などの”音”を聞き分ける。」 This describes a fictional ability, not a real-world diagnostic skill.

-
Extreme fear makes him fall asleep
His official profile describes a specific character response: when he falls into extreme fear, he falls asleep. That is a story trait, not a clinical explanation of sleep or a general response to anxiety.
-
His behavior changes in that state
The same profile says that after falling asleep he becomes sharp-minded, “as if he were a different person.” The Japanese wording is 「極度の恐怖に陥ると眠りに落ち、別人のように頭の切れる性格へと変わる。」 The English rendering here is a translation, not an official English quotation.

SEGA’s game character entry connects Zenitsu’s fear-and-sleep response with his ability to unleash Thunder Breathing. This is how the game profile presents the character; it is not a separate medical or psychological explanation.
-
His self-doubt is part of his characterization
The official Japanese profile says Zenitsu lacks confidence and often makes self-deprecating remarks. His fear is not the only defining detail: the profile also makes his harsh view of himself explicit.

-
He joins the Entertainment District mission
The official English Entertainment District Arc story page names Zenitsu among the companions on the mission with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Inosuke. This places him in that arc’s group setup; it does not make the academy role below part of the same storyline.

Where to read more
For the main story, VIZ’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba catalog lists the manga and companion titles, including Corps Records, an anime art book, and an official coloring book. These are optional ways to explore the series; their presence in the catalog does not independently establish the character details above.
