There is no reliable basis in the cited reporting for calling a $22 million Byron Bay vacation home Zac Efron’s. Reports instead say Efron bought 128 hectares in the Tweed Valley for $2 million, while the separate $22 million Byron Bay-area sale was to Rip Curl co-founder Brian Singer. A later proposed home on Efron’s land was nicknamed Futurecave; the available reports do not establish that it is finished or open to visitors.

What property did Zac Efron reportedly buy?

In 2021, realestate.com.au reported that title settlement records showed Zachary David Alexander Efron bought a 128-hectare block in the Tweed Valley for $2 million. That is the reported land purchase associated with Efron—not a $22 million Byron Bay house. realestate.com.au’s report on the purchase describes the acreage and price.

The land is reported to be around an hour north of Byron Bay, between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. It is regional acreage, not a property in Byron Bay itself. Architectural Digest’s coverage provides historical context on the land and noted at the time that evidence of a build had not emerged.

Who bought the separate $22 million Byron Bay property?

The $22 million figure belongs to a different transaction. The Byron Shire Echo’s 2021 local property coverage identified Rip Curl co-founder Brian Singer as the buyer of a house in the Byron Bay area for that amount. It does not identify Efron as the buyer. The Byron Shire Echo’s report distinguishes that sale from Efron’s Tweed Valley acreage purchase.

What is Futurecave?

Later coverage described a proposed home on Efron’s acreage nicknamed Futurecave. Reports named designer Joost Bakker and architect Frank Burridge as participants. Home Beautiful and realestate.com.au also described hemp and other experimental or recycled materials among the reported design ideas. realestate.com.au’s Futurecave coverage and Home Beautiful’s report discuss the project.

Those accounts describe a plan, not verified final specifications. The cited coverage does not establish that construction is complete, that the home is available to tour, or that every reported material made it into a finished building.

Can you see inside the home?

The available reporting does not support a literal inside look at a completed, accessible vacation home. It supports a profile of the land purchase and a reported design proposal. Treat renderings, descriptions of intended materials, and project details as reporting about plans rather than proof of a finished interior or an invitation to visit private property.
