Univision and UniMás were temporarily removed from YouTube TV in October 2025, but they were not permanently lost. After the previous carriage agreement expired on September 30, 2025, YouTube TV and TelevisaUnivision announced a multiyear agreement on November 26 that restored Univision, UniMás, TUDN and Galavisión. As of the latest verified status on August 18, 2026, subscribers should first check their local lineup and custom guide before considering another service.
What happened to Univision and UniMás?
YouTube TV’s carriage agreement with TelevisaUnivision expired on September 30, 2025. Beginning around October 1, subscribers reported that Univision, UniMás and related networks had disappeared from their guides.

The dispute involved both carriage fees and packaging. YouTube TV argued that TelevisaUnivision’s demands did not match the networks’ performance on the service and sought to protect the value and price of its package. TelevisaUnivision said Google wanted to move Univision and UniMás out of YouTube TV’s core offering and make viewers pay more through a Spanish-language add-on. That characterization came from TelevisaUnivision and should not be treated as an independently established finding.
The blackout reflected a broader live-TV streaming conflict: networks seek higher distribution fees and control over packaging, while distributors try to limit price increases and avoid forcing customers into more expensive bundles. Viewers ultimately face the risk of blackouts, missing recordings and changing channel lineups.

When did the channels return?
On November 26, 2025, the companies announced a new multiyear agreement, ending an almost two-month blackout. The reported deal restored Univision, UniMás, TUDN and Galavisión to YouTube TV’s Base Plan and Spanish Plan. Restoration of individual networks and local stations could occur at different times in different markets.
That means the headline “YouTube TV loses Univision” is accurate only as a description of the temporary 2025 dispute. It is misleading if read as a permanent change. The agreement was described as multiyear, but it does not guarantee that future carriage negotiations can never cause another interruption.

Which TelevisaUnivision channels were affected?
- Univision
- UniMás
- TUDN
- Galavisión
- Local Univision- and UniMás-affiliated stations carried by YouTube TV
- Other reported networks, including FOROtv, De Película, De Película Clásico, Bandamax, Telehit, Telehit Música and tlnovelas
The November agreement specifically identified Univision, UniMás, TUDN and Galavisión as returning to the Base Plan and Spanish Plan. Do not assume every related network returned on the same date, under the same plan or in every market. YouTube TV’s official channel checker remains the better authority for a particular ZIP code.

Are Univision and UniMás in the YouTube TV Base Plan?
The reported terms placed Univision and UniMás, along with TUDN and Galavisión, in YouTube TV’s Base Plan and Spanish Plan rather than requiring customers to buy only a separate higher-priced Spanish package. However, local affiliate availability varies by market. A national restoration does not mean every subscriber receives the same local station.
Check YouTube TV’s channel availability page with your ZIP code. Also search for both the network name and the local station’s call sign.
What to do if the channels are still missing
- Verify your ZIP code. Confirm that YouTube TV lists Univision or the relevant local affiliate as available in your market.
- Search the live guide. Try “Univision,” “UniMás,” and the local station call sign. A station may not appear under the national network name.
- Review your custom guide. If you hid the channels during the blackout, they may not automatically reappear in a guide you customized.
- Refresh the account. Close and reopen the app, then sign out and back in. This can clear stale guide data, but it does not change market eligibility.
- Check your plan. Confirm that you have not canceled or changed plans since the blackout.
- Contact YouTube TV support. Do this if the official ZIP-code checker says the channel should be available but it is absent from your account.
Recordings and Library content are a separate issue. During the blackout, YouTube TV community guidance indicated that live channels and associated Library recordings could be removed. Do not assume that recordings deleted during the dispute will automatically return.
What about the $6 credit?
During the 2025 blackout, YouTube TV reportedly offered eligible affected subscribers a $6 credit or refund when the programming remained unavailable for an extended period. That was a historical, eligibility-based remedy—not a standing discount in 2026. A subscriber who currently cannot find a local station should contact support rather than assume the credit is still available.

ViX
ViX is the most natural alternative for viewers primarily seeking TelevisaUnivision novelas, films, originals, on-demand programming and selected sports. It is not a complete replacement for YouTube TV’s general live-TV lineup, local affiliates, cloud DVR or every linear network.

ViX’s U.S. pricing page listed ViX Premium with Ads at $5.99 per month for new subscribers beginning May 20, 2025. Streaming prices can change, so confirm the current checkout price before subscribing.
DIRECTV MiEspañol
DIRECTV’s MiEspañol package is a broader live Spanish-language option. Its page advertised more than 60 Spanish-language channels, including Univision and Telemundo, and showed a promotional price of $32.99 per month for the first two months followed by a stated regular price of $37.99 at the time reviewed. Promotions, taxes, eligibility and package contents may change.
Sling with ViX Premium
Sling’s ViX page advertised ViX Premium at $10.99 per month through Sling at the time reviewed. This provides access to ViX; it does not establish that Sling carries the complete live Univision and UniMás broadcast lineup.
An antenna
An antenna may supplement a streaming service if your local Univision or UniMás affiliate broadcasts over the air. Reception is highly market-dependent, and an antenna will not provide national cable networks such as TUDN or Galavisión. Check your local station and antenna-availability tools before buying equipment.
Which option makes sense?
| Option | Best for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube TV | Existing subscribers who want restored Univision and UniMás alongside broad live-TV coverage | May be more service than Spanish-only viewers need; local availability varies |
| ViX | TelevisaUnivision on-demand programming and selected live content | Not a full replacement for all live channels or local affiliates |
| DIRECTV MiEspañol | A large Spanish-language live-TV package | Promotional pricing expires and ongoing costs may be higher |
| Sling + ViX | Viewers who specifically want ViX through Sling | Does not confirm access to every Univision or UniMás linear channel |
Bottom line
Univision and UniMás were removed from YouTube TV after a contract expired on September 30, 2025, but the blackout ended with a multiyear agreement announced on November 26. As of August 18, 2026, the principal networks were restored. Before canceling YouTube TV, check your ZIP-code lineup, custom guide, plan and local affiliate. If you mainly want novelas and on-demand TelevisaUnivision content, ViX may be a more economical choice than a full live-TV package.
