To stream a bhajan playlist from OBS to YouTube, get the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, enter them in OBS, and use a stable encoder baseline: RTMPS, H.264, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and a bitrate matched to your resolution and upload capacity. A stream key connects OBS to YouTube; it does not keep a computer, network, or broadcast running by itself. For 24/7 operation, plan for power, connection, rights, monitoring, and YouTube’s archive limits.
Get the YouTube stream URL and key

Sign in to YouTube Studio, open Go Live, then use the Live Control Room’s Stream tab to create a stream or select an existing one.

In the stream settings, find the stream URL and stream key. YouTube describes keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send an encoder feed to the associated stream. You can create a custom key for reuse; if it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace the saved key in OBS. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.

In OBS, open Settings and select the Stream section. Choose YouTube or YouTube RTMPS as the service if available, then connect your account or enter the stream URL and key from YouTube. If OBS presents separate server and key fields, put the URL in the server field and the key in the key field. Exact labels can differ by OBS version and operating system; use the OBS Knowledge Base for current help.

Apply the settings, then start streaming from OBS. Wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Verify that it is the intended stream, check its visibility and other stream settings, and only then make it public or treat it as live. YouTube’s encoder workflow is described at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Do not share screenshots that reveal the key, publish it in a tutorial, or put it in a public document. If the feed stops connecting after a reset, update the key stored in OBS.

Set a conservative OBS encoder baseline
These settings are a starting point, not a guarantee of picture quality or continuous uptime. YouTube’s recommendations vary with resolution, frame rate, and codec; consult its current encoder settings and bitrate table for the exact output you plan to use.

A static image may need less visual detail than fast-moving footage, but do not assume a lower bitrate is a YouTube-approved threshold. Choose a supported resolution and bitrate that your connection can sustain, then assess the actual feed.

Prepare a 24/7 broadcast for real-world interruptions
Check upload capacity and test the actual feed
YouTube advises that total streaming bitrate should not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. That is a recommendation, not a continuity guarantee. Measure the upload capacity you can actually sustain, account for other devices sharing the connection, and test at the planned bitrate. YouTube warns that network disruptions can break a stream; a wired connection may help where Wi-Fi varies, but Ethernet is optional, not a YouTube requirement. Read YouTube’s streaming tips.
Before launch, run a representative test using the intended audio, visual, and encoder settings. Check the incoming preview, confirm the watch page is accessible, and monitor Stream Health and its messages. YouTube’s encoder guidance also recommends checking the stream on channel or watch pages and mobile devices.

Plan around computer, network, and encoder failures
OBS can send the feed only while the computer, OBS, power, and network remain available. A stream key does not prevent a sleeping or rebooting computer, a dropped home connection, encoder failure, or a YouTube-side interruption. If the broadcast must stay available unattended, decide who will check it and how it will be restarted after a failure. YouTube provides auto-start and auto-stop controls in stream settings; when enabled, they allow starting or stopping from the encoder. Confirm their behavior on your specific stream before relying on them. They do not provide power, network, or rights continuity.
Set replay expectations before a stream exceeds 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a continuous broadcast longer than 12 hours will become one complete replay. If preserving the full program matters, consider shorter sessions or a separately validated local recording, and establish a process to check and retain those files. Splitting a schedule into shorter sessions is an operational choice based on YouTube’s archive statement, not a platform requirement.

Confirm channel eligibility and bhajan rights
YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Its getting-started guidance sets a minimum age of 16 to livestream. Check eligibility before treating a denied broadcast as an OBS configuration fault; see YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
For a bhajan channel, check the rights for the actual sound recording, performance, composition or arrangement where relevant, and every visual asset. Confirm that each permission covers livestreaming and any replay or archive use you intend. A devotional subject or public-domain composition does not by itself establish that a particular recording or image is cleared. YouTube’s general requirement not to infringe others’ rights does not determine the licensing status of your selected tracks.
Troubleshoot common OBS-to-YouTube problems
