PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor YouTube Live ultra-low latency in OBS, use a supported codec and ingest protocol, set rate control to CBR, choose a bitrate that matches your codec, resolution and frame rate, and set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. Then select ultra-low latency separately in YouTube’s broadcast settings. OBS encoder settings alone do not turn on YouTube’s ultra-low-latency mode.
Set the OBS encoder settings
- Choose YouTube as the service. In OBS, configure the stream for YouTube and use a protocol supported by your stream setup. For RTMP-based streaming, YouTube recommends RTMPS. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 as video codec options, and supports frame rates up to 60 fps. Available OBS options depend on its version and your computer’s hardware. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
- Set rate control to CBR. In OBS’s output or streaming encoder controls, find the rate-control field and select CBR (constant bitrate).
- Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Choose a bitrate for your actual output. Match it to the codec, resolution and frame rate you intend to send. For H.264, YouTube’s recommendations include these examples:
| H.264 output | YouTube-recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube recommendations for the specified H.264 outputs, not guarantees of picture quality or end-to-end delay. Use YouTube’s encoder guide for a different codec or output combination rather than assuming these H.264 figures apply.
Choose settings your connection can sustain
A nominally higher-quality output is not useful if your upload connection cannot deliver it reliably. Choose a bitrate and output your connection can sustain, and test with audio and movement similar to the planned broadcast. OBS encoder labels and available choices can differ by version and hardware; YouTube’s guidance does not require a particular NVIDIA, AMD, Apple or x264 preset.
Enable ultra-low latency in YouTube
Latency is a YouTube broadcast setting, distinct from OBS’s codec, bitrate and keyframe controls. Set the broadcast’s latency option to ultra-low in YouTube’s broadcast configuration; changing an OBS encoder option does not select that platform mode. YouTube’s Live Streaming API states that ultra-low latency does not support closed captions or resolutions above 1080p: YouTube Live Streaming API: LiveBroadcasts.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
There is also a specific 4K limitation in YouTube Help: 2160p streams cannot use the “improve for low-latency” option and are set to normal latency. If 4K matters more than the latency mode, plan for normal latency rather than ultra-low latency. YouTube’s guidance is in its encoder settings and latency help page.
Test before the event and monitor the stream
- Run a test stream with the intended resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate.
- Include representative movement and audio, not just a static title card.
- Check YouTube’s stream health and messages during the test and broadcast.
- If the stream is unstable, reduce the output or bitrate to a level your upload connection can reliably sustain, then test again.
YouTube specifically advises testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream. These checks can reveal practical delivery problems; they do not guarantee a particular viewer-facing delay.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- OBS is configured, but YouTube is not in ultra-low latency: The encoder settings do not select YouTube’s latency mode. Change the latency option in the YouTube broadcast configuration.
- The stream drops frames or appears unstable: The chosen output may exceed what the upload connection can sustain. Test a lower bitrate or output setting and check YouTube’s stream-health messages.
- Ultra-low latency is unavailable for a 4K stream: YouTube says 2160p cannot use the improve-for-low-latency option and is set to normal latency. Use an output at or below 1080p if ultra-low latency is required.
- Closed captions are required: YouTube’s Live Streaming API lists captions as unsupported in ultra-low-latency mode. Choose a different latency mode if captions are essential.
- The OBS encoder menu does not match a guide: Available controls vary by OBS version and hardware encoder. Locate the rate-control, video-bitrate and keyframe-interval settings by function, then apply the values above.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube stream of uploaded video rather than a live camera or event, StreamNeo is a different approach: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. YouTube ultra-low latency is a separate broadcast setting; StreamNeo’s stated use is keeping uploaded-video streams running, not broadcasting a live camera.
- Any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required.
