If YouTube says live streaming access is “limited,” first check the exact feature and status in YouTube Studio; the label alone does not prove your channel is banned from live streaming. YouTube’s stated baseline is a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. Mobile streaming has additional requirements, including at least 50 subscribers, and first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
Check the exact feature and its status
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Find the relevant feature row and check whether it is enabled, limited, or awaiting an action. YouTube notes that some features have separate eligibility requirements or are managed outside this tab, so check any linked instructions as well. YouTube’s feature-access guidance explains the access levels.
- Look for a notice in YouTube Studio and in the email associated with the channel. If YouTube has restricted live streaming, the notice is the place to find the reason and any appeal instructions.
YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance states: “To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.” See Get started with live streaming.
Identify which situation fits
You are trying to stream from the YouTube mobile app
Mobile live streaming has additional requirements: the channel must have at least 50 subscribers, be verified, have live streaming turned on, and have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. If this is the channel’s first mobile stream, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours after you enable it. Check YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements before treating the delay as a ban.
You are streaming from a computer for the first time
Verify the channel, enable live streaming if prompted, then allow for the first-time activation period if YouTube displays one. Do not apply the mobile app’s 50-subscriber threshold automatically to a computer stream: YouTube’s general live-streaming instructions cover several methods, including webcam and encoder, while mobile has its own stated subscriber requirement. Check the eligibility row and prompt for the method you plan to use.

The feature is available, but a daily limit has been reached
YouTube distinguishes standard, intermediate, and advanced feature access, and some features have daily-use limits. The feature-access page describes computer live streaming as available with phone verification at a limited daily limit, with higher daily limits for advanced access. If an advanced-access creator reaches a daily feature limit, YouTube says to wait 24 hours before using that feature again. “Limited” in a feature row can therefore describe access level or usage limits rather than a policy restriction.
You see a policy, copyright, or account restriction
YouTube may temporarily or permanently disable live access for policy, copyright, age, or other account-related reasons. Its general live-streaming guidance says a strike prevents live streaming for 14 days. Follow the reason and instructions in the account notice; appeal if YouTube offers that option and you believe the decision is wrong. Do not try to evade a restriction by streaming through another channel: YouTube treats that as circumvention, which may lead to account termination. See YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions guidance.

Complete the right eligibility steps
Phone verification and advanced access are not the same thing
YouTube says phone verification grants intermediate features. Advanced access requires phone verification plus sufficient channel history or identity verification by ID or video, where available. Positive channel history and policy compliance also matter to maintaining advanced access. These steps are not proof that every creator must obtain advanced access to live stream: YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance gives the baseline as verification and no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. Use the specific feature row and account notice to determine whether advanced access is actually required for your case. Details are in YouTube’s feature-access guidance and its identity-verification information.
Check age and channel history
YouTube’s current general live-streaming help page says creators must be at least 16 to live stream. Older answers that state a different threshold may be out of date. If YouTube identifies an age or policy issue in your account, follow the account-specific notice rather than relying on forum posts.

Why changing equipment will not unlock access
A webcam, microphone, capture card, encoder, or faster computer can help produce a stream after the channel has access. None changes the account’s Feature eligibility state or clears an account-level restriction. YouTube supports several streaming methods, but eligibility must be resolved in the channel itself.
Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you see | Likely distinction to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile app says live streaming is unavailable | Mobile-specific subscriber, verification, enablement, or restriction requirement | Check the mobile requirements, verify the channel, confirm live streaming is enabled, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| Feature eligibility shows “limited” | Feature access tier or daily-use limit; not necessarily a live-stream ban | Open the exact feature row and any linked instructions. If a daily limit was reached, follow YouTube’s wait period shown for that feature. |
| Studio or email names a strike or copyright issue | Account-level restriction | Read the notice, follow its timeframe and instructions, and use the appeal option if YouTube provides one. |
| Encoder or webcam cannot start a broadcast | Production method cannot override channel eligibility | Resolve the account status and method-specific requirements in Studio before changing hardware or software. |
| You have checked the page but still cannot tell why access is limited | The label alone does not expose the individual channel’s enforcement reason | Review all Studio notices and associated email; use the appeal or support route offered in the account notice. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the channel is eligible and your goal is to keep uploaded video looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo runs it from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays your uploaded video, not a camera feed. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo cannot unlock YouTube eligibility or remove an account restriction. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free day.
