Buying a beat does not, by itself, prove that you can use it in a YouTube livestream or leave it in the archived replay. The specific agreement for your purchase must grant the relevant rights for the live broadcast and, if you archive it, the on-demand video. Even with permission, YouTube may interrupt a live stream if the rights owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
What a purchased beat license needs to cover
Payment and permission are separate questions. The agreement delivered for your transaction—not the fact that you paid, or a label such as “premium” or “unlimited”—sets out what you may do. BeatStars says producers manage their own prices, license terms and sales, and that marketplace agreements are generated from each seller’s configured terms and transaction details. Terms can therefore differ between producers and purchases. (BeatStars licensing; BeatStars license agreements)
Review the executed agreement, including any amended or customized terms. Check for provisions covering:
- Use in a live video stream or broadcast, rather than only in a finished, uploaded video.
- Archiving the livestream and making the replay available on demand.
- Monetized and non-monetized streams, and any limits on monetization.
- Performance rights, territory and duration of the license.
- Audience, view or usage caps, and other exclusions or conditions.
- Content ID registration, claims, and whether your channel must be allowlisted.
These are review prompts, not terms guaranteed to appear in every agreement. BeatStars describes configurable contract details that can include monetized and non-monetized video streams and for-profit and non-profit performances; that does not establish that a particular license grants those uses. Rights may also involve more than the beat seller’s recording. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to hold the rights needed for the live content, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. A beat agreement may not resolve rights in every composition, recording, sample or contribution used in the track. (YouTube Livestream terms and conditions)
Why a licensed stream can still be interrupted
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may show a placeholder, warn you, interrupt the broadcast or terminate it. YouTube says that licensing alone does not ensure an uninterrupted stream: if you have permission to use third-party content, ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. An interruption is not, by itself, proof that you lack a license. It can reflect a mismatch between the permission you obtained and the rights owner’s Content ID settings. Conversely, having a purchase receipt does not establish that the agreement grants the rights your stream needs.
Live interruption and replay claim are different events
| Stage | What may happen | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| During the livestream | YouTube may warn, interrupt or terminate a stream after detecting third-party content. A licensed channel may still need to be allowlisted by the rights owner. | Read the live notice in YouTube Studio and contact the rights owner about the channel allowlist. |
| After the stream, if it is archived | YouTube says Content ID claims are made after the livestream ends if the stream is archived. | Review the claim and claimant details against the agreement’s coverage of the archived, on-demand video. |
A live detection and a later claim on the recording are not interchangeable. Address the live interruption with the rights owner and allowlisting; assess a replay claim against the actual license and the claim’s stated details. (YouTube Help: copyright issues with live streams)

What to do before you go live
- Find the transaction documents. Save the exact license agreement and receipt. Identify the beat, purchase and version of the agreement that applies.
- Match the planned uses to the written grant. Confirm the agreement covers livestreaming, the intended monetization, and archiving the stream as an on-demand replay. Check all limits and exclusions.
- Ask the rights owner in writing. Ask whether the agreement covers your planned live broadcast and archived replay, and whether the YouTube channel needs to be added to the Content ID allowlist. YouTube specifically advises licensed creators to request allowlisting from the content owner. (YouTube Help: copyright issues with live streams)
- Keep a record. Retain the agreement, receipt, beat title, rights-owner correspondence and the stream or replay URL. These details help when you need to explain your permission or identify a claim.
How to respond to a claim or interruption
If YouTube interrupts the live stream
Check the specific notice in YouTube Studio, then contact the rights owner or administrator with your agreement and channel details. Ask whether the channel should be allowlisted. A license may grant permission while the channel remains absent from the owner’s Content ID allowlist; the owner controls that allowlisting process. (YouTube Help: copyright issues with live streams)
If the archived replay receives a Content ID claim
Review the claimant and claim details, then compare them with the agreement’s terms for the archived video. BeatStars notes that a copyright claim can occur even when the correct license was purchased. Its guidance recommends checking compliance with the agreement, sharing it with a distributor where relevant, and contacting the producer. Those steps do not guarantee that a claim will be released or that every claim is invalid. (BeatStars guidance on copyright claims)

Use YouTube’s dispute process only if you have a good-faith rights basis under your agreement and the relevant rights. A receipt alone may not show what rights were granted. If the agreement or ownership is genuinely disputed and the consequences are significant, consider advice from a qualified lawyer.

If your documentary channel uses uploaded videos in a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo can loop recordings or playlists from the cloud. You upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It does not provide music rights or prevent a copyright claim, so confirm your beat license and any allowlisting separately.
