Run Jio’s MyJio diagnostics, compare playback on another internet connection, and—if possible—test the affected device over Ethernet. The timing makes the update worth reporting to Jio, but the official support guidance reviewed does not confirm that a particular Jio firmware update causes this problem or provide a model-specific fix.
Start by recording what is happening
Before changing settings, note the details that will help separate an app or device problem from a Wi-Fi, router, or service problem:
- The playback device: TV, streaming device, phone, tablet, or computer.
- Whether it uses Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- The exact YouTube message, such as “Connection to server lost.” or “Playback error. Tap to retry.”
- Whether other apps or services disconnect at the same time.
- Whether other devices on the JioFiber connection are affected.
- The Jio router model and firmware version, if visible in MyJio or the router interface, and approximately when the update occurred.
The error wording alone does not identify the cause. Keep these details for Jio support if the diagnostics do not resolve the issue.
Run Jio’s connection diagnostics
- Open MyJio and link or select your JioFiber account.
- Open Home, then JioCare.
- Choose Run Diagnostics and follow the actions shown for the result.
Jio says its check reviews connection health, router status, device configuration, and Wi-Fi strength. It can flag issues such as slow speed, weak signal, an offline router, a configuration error, or device overload, then suggest actions or support options. If the problem remains after following the app’s guidance, raise a service request through MyJio.

Restart once if the app recommends it
Jio’s general router guidance says restarting refreshes the network connection and may resolve minor speed or connectivity issues. It recommends restarting once a month as routine maintenance. That advice is not evidence that repeated restarts fix a firmware fault; follow the diagnostic result rather than repeatedly power-cycling the router.
Isolate YouTube, the device, and the connection
Change one variable at a time and replay the same stream where practical. These comparisons narrow down where to investigate; none alone proves a firmware defect.

- Try another internet connection. Connect the affected device to a different connection, such as a phone hotspot if available, and test the same YouTube stream. If it works there but not on JioFiber, investigate the JioFiber connection or its Wi-Fi path. If it still fails, focus first on the YouTube app or playback device.
- Check another service and another device. If several services or devices drop, the issue is less likely to be limited to one YouTube app. Use MyJio’s results to investigate signal, router status, configuration, or network load. If only one device’s YouTube app is affected, start with that app and device.
- For a TV or streaming device, reopen and update the app. Quit and reopen YouTube, restart the TV or streaming device, check for device software and app updates, and test another supported device or playback method.
- For a phone or tablet, clear the YouTube app cache. Then reopen the app and test again, including on another connection if possible.
- Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if the device supports it. Temporarily connect the device to the router by cable and replay the stream. A wired connection avoids the Wi-Fi link for this comparison; it does not establish that a cable will fix the underlying problem.
Check speed, Wi-Fi signal, and competing use
YouTube Help lists these approximate recommended sustained speeds for video playback. They are recommendations, not guarantees against interruptions:

YouTube’s separate TV troubleshooting guidance recommends at least 7 Mbps for HD streaming. Treat that as TV-specific guidance, not as another row in the resolution table or a guarantee of continuous playback. Check the connection near the TV, where distance from the router and interference can affect Wi-Fi.

Try a lower playback quality as a diagnostic
Temporarily choose a lower video quality. If reconnections lessen, available throughput or Wi-Fi conditions may be contributing; this does not confirm the router update as the cause. Also consider the device’s distance from the router, walls or metal obstructions, and how many other devices are using the connection. If the signal is weak in the playback area, use MyJio’s diagnostic result to decide whether coverage needs attention.

- Router model and firmware version, if available, plus the approximate update date.
- The exact YouTube error and the affected device.
- Whether other devices or services are also interrupted.
- Whether the affected device fails on Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or another internet connection.
- The MyJio diagnostic result and actions already tried.
The Jio and YouTube support guidance reviewed does not document a supported rollback procedure for a specific Jio router firmware version. Do not install unofficial firmware or factory-reset the router as a routine troubleshooting step; ask Jio to advise on the model and version involved.
Consider extra coverage only if weak Wi-Fi is the finding
Jio describes its Jio Extender as an option for wider coverage in larger homes. It is relevant when coverage is the problem identified, not as a demonstrated fix for a post-update reconnection issue.
