For a 24/7 Malayalam devotional YouTube channel, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, enter its server URL and private stream key in an encoder, and use settings your upload connection can sustain. Check channel eligibility and content rights first
Confirm the channel can livestream
YouTube’s stated requirements include a verified channel, no livestream restriction in the previous 90 days, and a minimum age of 16 to livestream. Check the channel’s current status before preparing a long broadcast; eligibility and access can change. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Clear rights to each part of the broadcast
A devotional purpose does not itself grant permission to stream music. Check rights for the underlying compositions and lyrics as well as the particular sound recordings, performances, and visuals you plan to use. Confirm that permissions cover the intended territories and uses, including livestreaming and any replay or archive. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for necessary rights on the content provider; consult the livestream terms and conditions and keep copies of relevant licenses and permissions.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it detects a match, it may replace the broadcast with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate the stream. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights holder may need to allowlist the channel through Content ID. Check the channel’s status with the rights holder before going live, and see YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Create the YouTube live event
- Open YouTube Studio: choose Create → Go Live. Create a new stream or schedule one in the Live Control Room. Scheduling lets you promote the event and gives viewers the option of setting a reminder. See Manage live stream settings.
- Set the event details: choose a clear title and description, set visibility, and select the appropriate stream type. Tell viewers what the channel is actually broadcasting, such as a continuous programme of Malayalam devotional songs. Use only artwork and other metadata you have permission to use.
- Copy the connection details: in the Live Control Room, locate the current server URL and stream key. Enter both in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send content to your channel. Do not publish it, include it in screenshots, or share it with people who do not need access. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start with the event in preview: connect the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators before you make the broadcast public. Follow YouTube’s current encoder workflow in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Choose stable encoder settings
There is no single safe bitrate for every Malayalam devotional stream. The right value depends on resolution, frame rate, codec, and the upload connection. A higher setting is useful only if the connection can sustain it without instability; for an always-on channel, a consistent stream is more useful than an ambitious setting that repeatedly drops.
- Protocol: use RTMP or RTMPS as supported by your encoder and YouTube’s current setup.
- Rate control: use CBR (constant bitrate), as YouTube recommends for live encoding.
- Keyframes: set a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Audio: use AAC or MP3. Check that the devotional audio is audible, clean, and not clipping.
- Resolution and bitrate: consult YouTube’s current recommendations for your selected codec, resolution, and frame rate, then test at the intended settings. Do not treat a bitrate from a different codec or frame rate as interchangeable.
Use YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution recommendations for the applicable values. The table varies by codec, resolution, and frame rate; recheck it when you change encoder settings.

Test the actual programme, not just the connection
Run a test with representative audio and motion before scheduling the full channel. If the stream uses a still devotional image, verify that the image is correct and remains visible, the audio continues without gaps or clipping, and the public watch page opens as intended. Keep the Live Control Room open during testing and monitor stream health rather than assuming that a successful encoder connection means the viewer experience is sound.
Plan how 24/7 playback will be operated
A software encoder on a computer is a valid option; YouTube does not require a dedicated hardware encoder for a basic stream. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events. The choice depends on whether you already have suitable equipment, how much local control or production complexity you need, and who will respond if the computer, encoder, or network fails. For a locally run stream, the computer, encoder, and network connection must remain available for the broadcast to continue. For a cloud-hosted service, check its terms, supported content, rights requirements, archive behavior, and failure-recovery process before relying on it. In either case, verify the output and have a plan for interruptions.

YouTube’s encoder instructions state that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is not a guarantee that a single event lasting 12 hours or longer, including a 24/7 broadcast, will be automatically archived in full. If viewers need replays, make a separate archive plan and check the current behavior in YouTube Studio before launch. Decide whether the channel needs a separate recording workflow or shorter events, and verify the resulting replay rather than assuming it exists.

Understand monetization and channel policy
Live revenue features are available only to eligible channels. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to livestreams as well as other formats, and reused content is assessed at the channel level. Repetitive or mass-produced programming can put monetization eligibility at risk. A devotional subject, a 24/7 schedule, or permission to use someone else’s recording does not by itself establish eligibility. Make the channel’s own authorship and contribution clear, and review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream problems
- The encoder will not connect: check that the server URL and stream key match the current event in YouTube Studio. If the key was reset or exposed, update the encoder with the new one.
- The stream connects but is unstable: check the Live Control Room’s stream-health indicators and confirm the upload connection can sustain the selected resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate. Reduce settings if necessary and test again.
- Viewers report silence or distorted audio: check that the encoder is sending the intended audio source and that the level is neither muted nor clipping. Listen to the preview using the actual programme material.
- The live stream is interrupted over a music match: review the match and rights for the exact recording and composition. Contact the rights holder about the permission’s scope and whether Content ID allowlisting is needed; do not assume that a license alone prevents an interruption.
- The broadcast ends but no full replay appears: check the event duration and current Studio behavior. YouTube documents automatic archiving only for streams under 12 hours, so maintain a separate archive plan for a continuous event.
- The public page or visibility is wrong: verify the event’s visibility and details in the Live Control Room, then test access from a viewer’s perspective before promoting the stream.
