Disney+ has published new US list prices effective September 23, 2026, for new subscriptions. Subscribers who signed up before that date are told they will see the change in a billing cycle on or after October 21, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, that means the change has not yet been scheduled to reach most existing accounts. If your charge already went up, check your billing route and plan in your account before assuming the schedule explains it, because the official page does not give your exact charge date.
When the new price reaches your account
The official Disney+ pricing page, dated September 23, 2026, states: “If you signed up for a Disney+ subscription prior to this date, you will see a price change in your billing cycle on or after October 21, 2026.” That sentence sets the earliest window for existing subscribers, not a fixed charge date. Three points matter when you read it:

- Your billing cycle sets the date. The change appears on the first renewal in your cycle that falls on or after October 21, 2026. Your renewal date in Account settings is the figure to check.
- Your billing channel may set a different price. The page warns that third-party billing prices may vary, so a subscriber billed through a partner may see a different amount or a different timeline.
- The cited sources do not give the previous prices. Nothing in the official pages establishes how large this increase is compared with the earlier price, so this article does not calculate a percentage or a dollar difference.
The new US prices
The figures below come from the official Disney+ plans and prices page for the US. They are listed prices for new subscriptions as of September 23, 2026. Your account may show a different amount, so verify the plan and price shown there.

Two details in the table change how you read it. First, the annual price is listed only for the standalone Premium plan on the cited page, so an annual comparison for any bundle requires your own account or partner statement. Second, the legacy bundle is not a plan a subscriber can move into; switching out of it generally means you cannot return to it.

Confirm which plan you are actually paying for
Before you change anything, open your account and confirm five things. The answers determine whether the new list prices apply to you at all.
- Plan name: standalone, bundle, or legacy bundle, and whether it includes ads.
- Billing frequency: monthly or annual. The annual Premium price is $214.99 on the cited page, which is a different charge cycle from the monthly $21.49.
- Renewal date: the date your next charge will occur.
- Billing route: direct to Disney, or through a partner. The Disney+ guide to viewing subscription information covers where these details appear.
- Promotions or price holds: any offer that keeps your price fixed. Changing your plan can end these, so note them before you act.
Bundles: when they make sense and when they do not
A bundle is only cheaper if it replaces services you would otherwise pay for separately. Work through these questions with your household’s actual viewing:

- Which services would you keep anyway? Add the cost of each service you would buy alone and compare that total with the bundle price, not with the Disney+ price alone.
- Do you accept ads? The with-ads bundles are priced lower than their no-ads versions. Ads can still appear on Premium plans in select live and linear programming.
- Is the bundle available through your billing route? The HBO Max bundles are listed as direct-billing only in the US, so a partner-billed subscriber should not assume they can switch to one.
- Do you need Hulu-specific content? Hulu availability and features can differ from Disney+, so check that the titles you watch are included before paying for a bundle that contains Hulu.
How to change your plan
Disney’s official plan-management guide describes the steps below. Partner-billed customers may be sent to their billing partner, and the options shown can vary.
- Open DisneyPlus.com in a web browser. Plan changes are not described on the official page for the app.
- Select Profile, then Account.
- Select Your Plans & Billing.
- Select the subscription you want to change.
- Select Change, choose the new plan or billing frequency, and review the final price and effective date before you confirm.
The effective date depends on the type of change:

Cancelling or pausing
Disney’s official sign-up guidance states that cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, so you keep access until then. The plan-management page says subscribers can “update your payment method, pause your subscription, or cancel Disney+ at any time.” If the only goal is a lower bill, a downgrade to a cheaper plan may be a better fit than cancelling, because it keeps the service and reduces the next charge.

What to do this week
- Note your renewal date and billing route in Account settings before October 21, 2026, when the change can first appear for existing subscribers.
- Compare your current plan with the table above, using the bundle questions to decide whether the total cost is justified.
- Check for any promotion or price hold before you change plans.
- If you are on the legacy bundle, decide whether you want to keep it. Changing or cancelling it means you cannot return to it.
