“Your 6 can be my 9” means that the same thing can look different from different points of view. It became a meme after Galgotias University’s robot-dog presentation at the India AI Impact Summit/Expo in February 2026, when Professor Neha Singh used the line to describe how her remarks had been interpreted. The joke drew on a dispute over the robot’s origins: news coverage identified it as a commercially available Unitree Go2, while Singh later said the university had acquired it for student learning rather than made it.
What does “Your 6 Can Be My 9” mean?
In Singh’s explanation, the line is a metaphor for perspective: one person’s “six” can appear to someone else as a “nine,” depending on how it is viewed. Hindustan Times quoted her saying, “You’re maintaining your six, somebody else’s nine — that’s what happened.” She was describing the disagreement over her remarks, not making an official university statement. The same report quoted her reflection: “I could have been more eloquent. I could have been more articulate.” Hindustan Times
Online, the phrase also worked as an ironic punchline. Users applied the language of differing perspectives to a controversy in which the initial presentation and the later explanation seemed at odds. That context—not an established proverb or a universal saying—is what gave the line its meme appeal.
Where did the “your 6 can be my 9” meme come from?
The phrase entered wider circulation after a video from Galgotias University’s stall at the India AI Impact Summit/Expo in New Delhi in February 2026. Singh introduced the robot dog as “Orion” and described it as developed by the university’s Centre of Excellence. That wording prompted questions about whether Galgotias had built the machine. As the row developed, Singh used the six-and-nine comparison to explain how her comments had been understood. ThePrint documented social-media jokes about the university, its students and the remark, including riffs on famous scientists. Those examples show how the phrase was used, but they do not establish the first post or capture every platform’s activity. ThePrint
Was the robot dog made by Galgotias University?
News reports identified the machine shown in the video as a Unitree Go2, a quadruped robot sold by Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics. Singh later said the university had acquired it as a hands-on learning platform for students and acknowledged that her initial wording had not made that clear. The distinction matters: the initial presentation prompted questions about development; the later explanation was that the university had bought the robot for educational use, not manufactured it. Is “Your 6 Can Be My 9” from Aakhree Raasta?
Moneycontrol reported that some social-media users linked the line to dialogue from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1986 film Aakhree Raasta. That is a reported audience comparison, not evidence that the film originated Singh’s wording or that the meme began there. Moneycontrol
